A New Method to Detect Inner/Outer Race Bearing Fault Using Discrete Wavelet Transform in Frequency-Domain

  • Induction motors' faults detection is almost a popular topic among researchers. Monitoring the output of motors is a key factor in detecting these faults. (Short-time) Fourier, (continuous, discrete) wavelet, and extended Park vector transformations are among the methods for fault detection. One major deficiency of these methods is not being able to detect the severity of faults that carry low energy information, e.g. in ball bearing system failure, there is absolutely no way to detect the severity of fault using Fourier or wavelet transformations. In this paper, the authors have applied the Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) frequency-domain analysis to detect bearing faults in an induction motor. In other words, in discrete transform which the output signal is decomposed in several steps and frequency resolution increases considerably, the frequency-band analysis is performed and it will be verified that first of all, fault sidebands become more recognizable for detection in higher levels of decomposition, and secondly, the inner race bearing faults turn out easier in these levels; and all these matter because of eliminating the not-required high energy components in lower levels of decomposing.

  • The DC electrolytic capacitor for DC-link of power converter is widely used in various power electronic circuits and system application. Its functions include, DC Bus voltage stabilization, conduction of ripple current due to switching events, voltage smoothing, etc. Unfortunately, DC electrolytic capacitors are some of the weakest components in power electronics converters. Many papers have proposed different algorithms or diagnosis method to determinate the ESR and tan ${\delta}$ capacitance C for fault alarm system of the electrolytic capacitor. However, both ESR vary with frequency and temperature. Accurate knowledge of both parameters at the capacitors operating conditions is essential to achieve the best reference data of fault alarm. According to parameter analysis, the capacitance increases with temperature and the initial ESR decreases. Higher frequencies make the reference ESR with the initial ESRo value to decrease. Analysis results show that the proposed DC Bus electrolytic capacitor reference ESR model setting technique can be applied to advanced reference signal of capacitor diagnosis systems successfully.

A Physical Combined Attack and its Countermeasure on BNP Exponentiation Algorithm (BNP 멱승 알고리듬에 대한 물리적인 조합 공격 및 대응책)

  • Recently, the combined attack which is a combination of side channel analysis and fault attack has been developed to extract the secret key during the cryptographic processes using a security device. Unfortunately, an attacker can find the private key of RSA cryptosystem through one time fault injection and power signal analysis. In this paper, we diagnosed SPA/FA resistant BNP(Boscher, Naciri, and Prouff) exponentiation algorithm as having threats to a similar combined attack. And we proposed a simple countermeasure to resist against this combined attack by randomizing the private key using error infective method.

  • In this paper a neural network-based fault tolerant control system for aircraft sensor and actuator failures is considered. By exploiting flight dynamic relations a set of neural networks is constructed to detect sensor failure and give alternative signal for the faulty sensor. For actuator failures another set of neural networks is designed to perform fault detection, identification, and accomodation which returns the aircraft to a new stable trim. Integrated system is simulated to show the performance of the system with sensor and control surface failures.

  • This paper proposes an enhanced scheme adding a sign detector at the front of the correlator in STDR (sequence time domain reflectometry) system. We have executed simulations to show the improvement of detection performance in two fault types and various fault locations. Consequently, it can be shown that the proposed scheme improves the detection performance of the location of far-fault without increasing the computational complexity.

  • Coupling capacitor voltage transformers (CCVT) are widely used in high voltage power systems to obtain standard low voltage signal for protective relaying and measuring instruments. To obtain high accuracy, capacitances and inductances are tuned to the power system frequency, making a parallel resonant circuit. When no fault occurs, no distortion of the secondary voltage is generated. However, when a fault occurs, harmonics generated break the resonance between capacitances and inductance, which generates the distortion of the secondary voltage. This paper proposes an algorithm for compensating the secondary voltage of the CCVT. With the values of the secondary voltage of the CCVT, the secondary currents, the primary currents and the voltages across the capacitors and inductor are calculated. Test results indicate that the proposed algorithm can compensate the distorted secondary voltage of the CCVT, and is irrespective of the fault distance, the fault inception angle and the burden.

A System IC for Controlling the Fire Prevention (화재방지제어 시스템 IC)

  • In this study, we have developed one chip system IC for preventing the overload, detecting an abnormal conditions, and controlling the fire prevention in the intelligent home appliances. For the purpose, a circuit detectable an electric leak for preventing an electric shock, and a circuit detectable arc that has effect directly on the fire are designed. The circuits designed on every block are verified by comparing simulation with bread-boarding using a standard transistors. The system IC is fabricated by using 34 V 2 metal $1.5{\mu}m$ bipolar transistor process from evaluation results. The electrical performances of IC application circuits and the system IC equipped on PCB board are evaluated. It is confirmed that the system IC is well operated for arc and ground fault(GF) signal.

  • In recent years, MEMS sensors show huge attraction in machine condition monitoring, which have advantages in power, size, cost, mobility and flexibility. They can integrate with smart sensors and MEMS sensors are batch product. So the prices are cheap. And the suitability of it for condition monitoring is researched by experimental study. This paper presents a comparative study and performance test of classification of MEMS sensors in target machine fault classification by 3 intelligent classifiers. We attempt to signal validation of MEMS sensor accuracy and reliability and performance comparisons of classifiers are conducted. MEMS accelerometer and MEMS current sensors are employed for experiment test. In addition, a simple feature extraction and cross validation methods were applied to make sure MEMS sensors availabilities. The result of application is good for using fault classification.

  • This paper proposes an dffcient method for test pattern generation.Current test pattern genration systems generate a test vester for fault $F_{i+l}$ independently of the computation previously done for faults F1,F2...,Fi The proposed algorithm generates a test vector for fault $F_{i+l}$ by inheriting the test vector for fault Fi. A new test vector is grnerated from inherited values by gradually changing the inhderited values .The inherited values may partially activate a fauog and propagate the fault signal,Normally,this reduses the number of decision steps and backtracks in the second search.Experimental results for well-Known benchmark circuts show that the proposed algorithm is very efficient with small backtrack kimit;in combination eith other algorithms,it is very efficient for arbitrary backtrack limits.

  • In this paper, we present the development of an intelligent diagnosis system for detecting faults of the transmission line. Based on the TFDR (Time-Frequency Domain Reflectometry), the fault detecting performs to measure the location of fault line. We analyze the reflected signal which is sent from the wire detecting system and classify the fault type of the wires by using intelligent diagnosis system. In order to analyze effectively, we construct the intelligent diagnosis system which is based on the fuzzy-bayesian algorithm. Finally, we provide the simulation results which are performed at transmission line to evaluate the feasibility and generality of the proposed method in this paper.
