The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of father's value of children and cultural orientation on the father's parenting involvement. Data were collected from 286 fathers on FPI, VOC, and COR, which then were analyzed using correlation and multiple regression. The major findings of this study were as follows: First, emotional value of children was positively related to the father's parenting involvement, but instrumental value of children was negatively related to the father's parenting involvement. Second, collectivism had a stronger relationships with the father's parenting involvement than individualism. Third, father's education level was positively related to the father's parenting involvement. The above findings imply that father's value of children is an important variables of parenting involvement and cultural orientation is also a good predictor of parenting involvement.
Objectives: This study aims to investigate the effect of marital relationship on parenting stress among dual- and single-earner families. In particular, this study focuses on the interaction effect of marital relationship and father's child-rearing involvement on the parenting stress. To access factors associated with parenting stress, we included marital satisfaction and marital conflict as the dimensions of marital relationship in this study. Method: We employed data from the 5th wave of the Panel Study of Korean Children(PSKC) data. Our analysis sample consisted of 1,515 parents having at least one child aged under 4 years. Also, this study conducted descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis. Results: First of all, marital satisfaction and marital conflict were significantly related to parenting stress for both mother and father in dual-earner families. While both indicators were significantly related to parenting stress for father, marital conflict only was a significant predictor for mother in single-earner families. Second, father involvement was a significant predictor for parenting stress for father in both dual- and single-earner families. Third, interaction effects were found between father involvement and marital conflict in the dual-earner families and between father involvement and marital satisfaction in the single-earner families. Conclusions: Based on the results, we recommended programs designed to enhance father's child-rearing involvement such as parenting education and community-based campaign. In addition, we recommended that policy and practice need to identify marital relationship dynamics to promote father's involvement and to reduce marital conflict in both dual- and single-earner families accordingly.

Why has the father's role been forgotten for such a long time\ulcorner Why is the father's role being rediscovered in recent years\ulcorner Does the father have significant impact on child's development\ulcorner This proper reviews these issues in terms of sociocultural background, trends, and future implications of the studies. A comparison and determinants analysis regarding the extent of father-child interaction, of the lather's behavior, and its effects on the child in the U.S and Japan is provided.

There was a mean difference in self-perceived competence by grade and father/mother attachment. While both 3rd graders and 5th graders showed high levels of father/mother attachment and self-perceived competence, 5th graders showed higher self-perceived competence than 3rd graders. There was a mean difference in friendship quality by grade, sex and father/mother attachment : 5th graders showed higher friendship quality than the 3rd graders, and girls showed higher friendship quality then boys. This study investigated the prediction of fathering and child's attachment to father based on socio-emotional competence and father-child relationship. Fifty-five toddlers and their parents were assessed by the Generative Fathering Questionnaire (Yee et al., 1999) and the Attachment Security Q Set (Waters, 1987) when the children were 2 years old. After 12 months, the child's socio-emotional competence and father-child relationship were assessed by questionnaire. The child's socio-emotional competence was predicted by father's sense of responsibility for child rearing but not by father's involvement in child rearing. Attachment security partly predicted child's socio-emotional competence and father-child relationship. Among the sub-categories of father-child relationship, warmth and closeness of the relationship was related to child's socio-emotional competence.
The purposes of this study are to investigate (1) the father's child-rearing behavior perceived by children in relation to children's sex, family type and mother's job, (2) children's prosocial moral judgement as related to children's sex, family type, and mother's job, and (3) the effect of father's child-rearing behavior on children's prosocial moral judgement. Purpose: This study aims to provide foundational data for preparing for educational programs on the role of a father that are designed to help primiparous spouses carry out the paternal role successfully. Methods: This study was conducted in two OB/GYN clinics and a study sample of 277 primiparous spouses who satisfied the selection criteria was selected. Results: Of the correlation among the childhood experiences, paternal attachment and role of a father of the subjects, the childhood experiences had a positive correlation with the paternal-infant attachment and the role of a father. The paternal-infant attachment and the role of a father also had a positive correlation. Conclusion: An infant is influenced primarily by his or her parents, who will have immense influences on the child's growth and development. Since the paternal-infant attachment is closely related to the role of a father, the development of positive paternal-infant attachment must be preceded in order for a primiparous spouse to carry out the role of a father successfully. Therefore, the development of nursing intervention programs is needed to foster the proper understanding of the role of a father, accommodate the practical needs of primiparous spouses and nurture the paternal-infant attachment for the promotion of realistic, successful role of a father.
This study aims to explore the men's perceived meanings attached to the father role and to investigate the relationship between the father role meanings and men's psychological well-being. Using two waves of data from the National Survey of Families and Households (NSFH) across 5 years, this study estimated the influences of the father role meanings at T1 on psychological well-being of fathers at T2 with hierarchical Ordinary Least Square (OLS) regression models. Findings showed that the majority of fathers felt the father roles interesting, appreciated, sociable, and well-done. However, stepfathers reported significantly more negative meanings of the father role than fathers having biological children. Positive role meanings attached to the father role in terms of interesting and well-done were Significantly associated with men's psychological well-being. Although this study has some limitations by using the secondary survey data (NSFH), this study has an advantage in exploring the association between fatherhood experiences and men's psychological well-being from men's own perspectives. Also, this study has strength in a sense that long-term effects of the father role meanings were investigated and empirically provide findings in consistent with role identity.
