The objective of this study was to find an appropriate method and process for protecting the green color in bamboo leaves and subsequent extraction of the green colorants, chlorophyll. Various inorganic salts including cupric sulfate, ferric sulfate, and zinc chloride were employed as green color protectors. Accordingly, the effects of metal salts and treatment conditions on color protection were investigated to find appropriate protector and conditions. And also, the efficacy of bamboo colorants as a natural green dye was evaluated through dyeing and colorfastness tests. Antimicrobial activity of dyed fabrics was measured by shake flask method in terms of bacterial reduction rate using Staphylococcus aureus(ATCC 6538). On the basis of experimental results for stabilizing bamboo leaves colorants, it was confirmed that Cu was the most appropriate metal type considering dye uptake, photostability and light fastness, and its optimum concentration was 0.025%. After the stabilization, the colorants were extracted efficiently at NaOH aqueous solution of 1.00%. It was concluded that bamboo leave has a high potentiality as new resources to produce a natural green dye with antimicrobial functionality.

Three super hydrophobic red fluorescence dyes were selected to dye high molecular weight polyethylene fiber. Their absorbance and emission spectra were obtained and Stokes' shift was measured. Fluorescence emission strength of the dyes on the fiber was investigated and therefore Fluoro Red 3 was determined as the best one among those three dyes in this experiment. Dyeing properties and fluorescence intensities were investigated using the Fluoro Red 3 on high molecular weight polyethylene fiber at various dyeing conditions. The optimum concentration of a dispersing agent was appeared at 10wt% in aqueous solution. The best dyeing was obtained at $125^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour. The color fastnesses to the washing and rubbing were as high as ratings 4~5, however, the fastness to light was exhibited ratings 2~3.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the dyeability and functional properties of dyed fabric with the extract of Myrica rubra rind. For this purpose, the ultraviolet and visible spectra of the bark extracts were investigated. The dyeing temperature, dyeing time, mordant type, mordanting order, mordant concentration and dyeability were investigated. The color fastness based on washing, dry-cleaning, rubbing and light were evaluated by the types of Myrica rubra rind extract used. In addition, the deodorization and antibacterial activity were measured, and the functionality of the silk fabric dyed with the extract of the Myrica rubra rind was evaluated. The result shows that the color strength of the dye was excellent when the Myrica rubra rind was dyed at $80^{\circ}C$ for 80 minutes. The mordant dye color strength was high in the order of Fe mordant> Cu mordant> Al mordant. The dyeability of Al and Cu mordant was high during pre-mordanting compared to Fe mordant, and the dyeability of Fe mordant was high during post-mordanting than Cu and Al mordant. The deodorant property of the dyed fabric stained with the Myrica rubra rind extract was 92.4% and that of antibacterial property was 99.9% for Staphylococcus aureus and Klebsiella pneumoniae bacteria respectively.

The purpose of this study is to produce cotton fabric having improved dyeability and colorfastness as well as retaining the desirable durable press property. When cotton fabric was treated with additives, nitrogen content was increased as the additive concentration was increased. DP ratings and wrinkle recovery properties of BTCA treated cotton fabrics were greatly increased. But DP rating was lowered slightly by adding additives and wrinkle recovery property was decreased with the increase of additive concentration. Tensile strength was decreased by BTCA treatment but increased as additive concentration was increased. Various BTCA/additive treatments produced great affinity for reactive and acid dyes when dyebaths were adjusted at pH 3. It was showed that dyeability was increased as additive concentration was increased. The most effective additive for improving the dyeing properties of the crosslinked cotton was TEAㆍHCl. In case of reactive dye, there was almost no improvement on the dyeability of finished cotton by adding salt. Color fastness to washing and light of finished and dyed cotton were low except for the washfastness of reactive dye. Dyeing the BTCA/additive treated cotton fabrics with reactive dye had no effect on the physical properties.

The dyeing properties of protein fiber with pine needles colorants were studied through an investigation of the effect of dyeing conditions such as dye concentration, dyeing temperatures and time on dye uptakes, effect of mordants, and color change. In addition, the various colorfastness of dyed silk and wool fabrics were evaluated for practical use. The antimicrobial ability, ultraviolet-cut ability, and deodorant ability were also estimated. The dye uptake increased as the dyeing concentration increased and this enabled the obtainment of the Langmuir absorption isotherm. The dye uptake increased as the dyeing time and temperature increased. Pine needles colorants showed relatively good affinity to protein fiber and produced a yellow color. Post-mordanting was more effective than the pre-mordanting, and the dye uptake of fabrics improved by mordanting. Except for washing, the colorfastness of dyed fabrics showed a low rating. However, the colorfastness to light and the dry cleaning of fabrics mordanted with N.Cu, and the friction fastness of fabrics mordanted with Cu improved. The guide fabrics showed very good antimicrobial abilities of 99.9%; in addition, the ultraviolet-cut ability and deodorant ability improved in fabrics dyed with pine needles extracts.
For development of dyeability, the rayon fabrics were dyed repeatedly with persimmon juice by padding mangle. The merit of padding-based dyeing was easier color reproduction over traditional hand dyeing where various colors and color fastness to light and laundering are hard to obtain. We evaluated the mechanical properties and hand value by Kawabata Evaluation system for dyed rayon fabrics. The results obtained from this study were as follows. With the increase of repeating padding times of dyeing, the linearity load-extension curve and tensile energy per unit length of the rayon fabrics were increased, but the tensile resilience of fabrics were decreased. The value of shear stiffness and shear hysteresis were increased. Also compression resilience and linearity of compression thickness were increased. The rayon fabrics dyed with persimmon juice had shown the thickness and weight increase as the number of padding increase. As repeating times of dyeing with persimmon juice were increased, among the 6 hand values, the item of koshi(stiffness) and Hari(anti-drape stiffness), fukurami(fullness and softness) were increased. while Shinayakasa (flexibility with soft feeling) and Shari(crispness) were greately decreased. The amount of coated persimmon juice on the surface of the fabric was gradually increased as the padding times of dyeing.
Fading of Chlorantine Fast Red 5B (C.I. Direct Red 81) on cotton fabric exposed to carbon are light was examined. It was observed that the dye had anomaly in CF curve slope, while normal in CFG one. Auther considered that the reason for discrepancy of the one with the other curve slope might be appeared from Weber-Fechner law, and derived following equation $F_v=[logC_0-log(C_0-C_0F_t/100)]{\times}100/(logC_0+b)$ where $F_t$; the proportion of dye faded after t hour exposure. $F_v$; the proportion of dye faded after t hour exposure, when a pattern is judged by visual method $C_0$; initial dye concentration. b; constant. also, the reason for increasing lightfastness with dye concentration was discussed on view of the above equation.

To improve poor dye uptake of safflower yellow colorants, cellulose fibers were pretreated with chitosan. The effect of chitosan pretreatment on the dyeability of safflower yellow colorants to cotton, ramie, and rayon was investigated in terms of dye uptake, color, and colorfastness. Irrespective of fiber types, dye uptake increased continuously with increase in chitosan concentration. Chitosan pretreatment improved dye uptake up to 5.6 times for cotton, 7.2 times for ramie, and 3.7 times for rayon. For cotton and ramie, the shade of dyed fabric changed YR color to Y color with increase in chitosan concentration. Dyed rayon fabrics showed Y color irrespective of chitosan concentration. Shades got darker and deeper with increasing chitosan concentration. Shades of chitosan pretreated fabrics were shifted differently depending on dyeing temperature within same fabrics. In common, the color of all dyed fabrics changed to YR at 50 and $70^{\circ}C$ while Y color at 30 and $90^{\circ}C$. V and C value decreased with increase in dyeing temperature and resulted in darker and duller color, in general. Light fastness was fair while washing fastness was poor. It was confirmed that ultrasonic dyeing method enhanced dye uptake more than 30% for cotton and ramie fabrics compared to the conventional automatic machine dyeing method. However, no difference in dye uptake between two dyeing methods was found for rayon.
For the efficiency in extracting gromwell colorant, methanol, ethanol and aceton were used as solvents. Also, to compare the results when dyed in various conditions and on various fabrics, the ratio of water-dye mixture, pH, temperature, and varieties of fabrics -wool, silk, cotton, nylon, ramie- were selected. L, a, b, ΔE, munsell and K/S value of each sample was measured and compared for the practical use. Water-dye mixture of 5:5 ratio showed the optimum dyeability. Not to mention wool and silk, but also cotton showed a satisfying dying result at the acidity of pH4. As the temperature increased, the dyeability of all three fabrics improved greatly. Especially, wool showed the highest improvement in terms of dyeability as the temperature increased. K/S values for wool and nylon showed superior results to the others in the gromwell colorant. The resulting color turned out somewhat different depending on the solvents used and the sort of fabric that was tested on. When the gromwell colorant extracted with methanol or ethanol was applied, the color of fabrics came out as purple or purpleblue. When the colorant extracted with acetone was used, the color of fabrics came out to be redpurple. The colorfastness to light showed low glades regardless to whichever solvents were used. The grades of colorfastness to laundering were recorded low numerical values, and its record became even lower when the gromwell colorant extracted with aceton was applied. The staining grade of the colorfastness to laundering showed a good grade in the range of 4 to 5. All the dyed fabrics showed a excellent drycleaning fastness.
