This study examined the clothing behavior in terms of creativity, individuality and conformity. The subjects were 317 boys(mean age: 18) and 312 girls(mean age: 18) in third grade of high school, in which were situated at north and south part of Han-River in Seoul. They were administered with the following questionnaires to measure the attitudinal and behavioral conformity, creativity, individuality, clothing conformity, clothing nonconformity, clothing confidence, aesthetic sense, clothing importance, fashionability. Results indicated that (1) high school students who have high creativity showed higher scores in clothing nonconformity, clothing confidence, aesthetic sense, clothing importance than those who have low creativity. But there were no significant differences between two groups in clothing conformity and fashionability(p<0.001). (2) High school students who have high individuality showed higher scores in clothing conformity clothing, nonconformity, clothing confidence, aesthetic sense, clothing importance and fashionability than those who have low individuality(p<0.001). (3) Students who have low attitudinal conformity showed higher scores in clothing nonconformity, clothing confidence and aesthetic sense(p<0.001) and lower score in information and norm specific clothing confirmity(p<0.05) than those who have high attitudinal conformity. And those who have high behavioral conformity showed higher score in clothing confirmity than those who have low behavioral confirmity(p<0.05). From these findings, we could find that the importance of creativity and individuality was greater than that of conformity in clothing behavior. These results were discussed and following studies were suggested.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the difference in self-esteem, body satisfaction, body image and clothing attitude according to gender and somatotype. Also the paths for the clothing attitude affected by these variables were analyzed. The data for this research were collected from questionnaires of 210 male and 180 female college students. Body image is categorized as three factors, 'interest in appearance', 'concern about weight', and 'satisfaction in appearance'. And clothing attitude is categorized as five factors, 'fashionability', 'status symbolism', 'modesty', 'conformity', and 'manageability'. Male students were more satisfied with their body satisfaction than female students. Female students showed higher interest in appearance and concern about weight than male students. Thin somatotype showed high self-esteem interest in appearance, and fashionability. Fashionability was indirectly affected by gender, somatotype, self-esteem and body satisfaction, and was directly affected in the cases of high interest and satisfaction in appearance. Status symbolism was significantly affected in the cases of female students and high interest in appearance. Modesty was significantly affected in the cases of female students and low satisfaction in appearance. Conformity was significantly affected in the cases of high interest in appearance. Manageability was indirectly affected by gender, somatotype and self-esteem, and was directly affected in the cases of low interest in appearance.
Because adolescents are much inflicted with the sense of obsession in endless competition with their feers the costume of the pop singers relieving this agony and anxiety is becoming the object of immitation more than that of any oother entertainer. In this perspective it was thought that it was very necessary to attempt to investigate what relationship sense of mental anxiety the costume singers recently have worn had with adolescents sense of anxiety. The anxiety questionnaire used by Chu Young-sook and Kim Jung-hui and the questionnaire drawn up as the result- of the pilot-test and the pre-test were used and the questionnaires drawn up by a total of 228 middle schoolgirls in seoul were used a sfinal data of annalysis. Of them the anxiety questionnaire was made up of 8 sub-scales such as classic·social·morbid·learning examination·school record·poverty·war and other to anxieties. in order to survey the overall content concerning the costume of the singers preferred by teenagers the other questionnaire presented three vaiables such as musicality fashionability and dance as the distinct characteristics of singers and hiphop style tidy style and sexy style of clothing as the style of clothing preferred of singers' clothing. The importance fashionability and imitability of clothing were investigated as variables in relation to singers' clothing behavior. The SPSS PC+ program was used as the analytic method of data which were tested by the frequency analysis Duncan's multiple anaylsis of variance t-test and so on. As a result of investigation middle schoolgirls having a high level of learning and examinatior anxieties preferred the singers excellent in musicality while middle schoolgirls having a lower level of classic anxiety preferred the singers excellent in fashionability and dance wearing the hiphop style of clothing. And it was shown that middle schoolgirls having a lower level of classic anxiety preferred the singers wearing the clothing of sexy style. In the light of these results it was shown that there was the correlation between anxiety and clothing preference. Accordingly it is thought that the purpose of this study was achieved to some exent.
This study explored the product attributes Vietnamese mothers consider for the purchase of children's wear, the differences of product attributes between groups with different levels of conspicuous consumption, and the extent to which the Korean wave affects the purchasing behavior of children's wear brands. The results are as follows. First, the product attribute that Vietnamese mothers consider most when purchasing children's clothes is the comfort in physical activities. Fabric type and quality, sizing and fit, durability, color, child suitability, design, cutting and construction, price, fashionability, and maintenance and laundering are the other attributes (respectively) that influence the purchase of children's wear. Second, the high conspicuous consumption group considers brand, maintenance and laundering, durability, the reactions of others, and fashionability significantly more than the low conspicuous consumption group. Third, the purchase intention of Korean children's wear brands is affected by the perception of the Korean wave than the influence of the reference group or the tendency of conspicuous consumption. The results show that low prices and practicality were important considerations for children's clothing purchases by Vietnamese mothers; however, brand name and fashionability were more powerful predictors for the high conspicuous consumption group. Those with a high perception of the Korean wave also had a higher intention of Korean children's wear brand, which is indicative of the halo effect of the Korean wave. Thus, Korean children's wear brands that plan to enter the Vietnamese market should make active use of the Korean wave.
This study examines underwear purchase behaviors and the attitude of male consumers based on the degree of interest in appearance. Data research was conducted on 296 males in their 20s and 30s located in Seoul & Gyeonggi province. The SPSS 17.0 software program was used to conduct data analyses such as descriptive statistics, frequency analysis, factor analysis, cluster analysis, t-test, and $\chi^2$-test. The results of this study are as follows: The degree of interest in appearance was identified with four factors; outfit management, confidence of figure, interest in clothing, weight control, and disinterest in appearance. Customers were segmented into two subdivisions: high and low interest in appearance. The factors derived from the factor analysis of underwear purchase motive included aesthetic, impulsiveness, and practicality. The purchase behavior of the group with high interest in appearance was highly motivated by aesthetics and impulsiveness. The factors derived from the factor analysis of underwear attitude included fashionability, comfortableness, and quality. Customers were segmented into the following three subdivisions: pursuit of comfortableness, pursuit of diversity, and normal. The type of high interest in appearance regarded fashionability and quality highly. Finally, the degree of interest in appearance showed significant relevance in purchase motive and underwear attitude for underwear.
This research presents a fashion adoption process model based on collective selection theory and examines the differences in the consumer adoption process of merchandising types at each stage of the fashion cycle. A questionnaire survey of 472 adult women was conducted for the purpose of empirical analysis of the fashion adoption process. The results show that fashionability and popularity (the primary attributes of fashion goods) have direct effects on resistance and adoption as well as indirectly through social compatibility and personal compatibility in the evaluation stage. In conclusion, on the theoretical side, this study verified the fashion process model according to consumer participation in the adoption process of fashion goods existing at different stage of the fashion cycle, internally through negotiating with individual tastes, and externally through interacting with others. On the practical side, this study presented an empirical result that can apply to merchandizing strategy centered on merchandizing type by connecting consumer adoption for the fashion goods released by actual companies.
Interpreting the phenomenon of Fast fashion that is prevalent these days, this research is meaningful in that it prepares the frame which suggests the vision to read the trend of 2000s and analyzes the property of phenomenon of Fast Fashion in the connection with society and culture. The so[io-cultural property can be largely characterized by consumption orientation, change orientation, efficiency, moment and multiculturism. Analyzing the phenomenon of fast fashion that emerged after 2000 on the basis of such sociocultural background, it is largely classified into imitation, fashionability, disposability, portability, transformation and convergence. Due to the hi-polarization of consumption, people tend to select imitated goods, and people accustomed to speed get interested in the fashionability of all Phenomena. Further, society that is transient and changing rapidly makes the habit of purchasing in disposability. The property of nomad society encourages to keep the habit of portability. Such change-oriented society and rapidly changing life pattern make them adapt in diverse transformation modes of Fast Fashion. Further, multi-cultural world integrates enterprises through combination of all cultures and the convergence of all factors.
The purpose of this study was to develop service quality dimensions for fashion retail stores and to identify significant service quality dimensions influencing customers satisfaction for each fashion retail store. 687 young adults completed written questionnaires consisting of items related to service quality. For analysis of data, confirmatory factor analysis, one-way ANOVA, scheffe test, and stepwise regression analysis were applied. The results were as follows: 1. The service quality dimensions of fashion retail stores were tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy, fashionability and variety, price, convenience, merchandise quality and credit card usability. Among those 10 main dimensions of service quality were grouped as experience attributes and search attributes. 2. In examination of the highest valuable service quality dimension based on the types of stores, imported fashion stores were evaluated the highest in terms of all factors except price, tangibles and credit card usability. 3. To predict consumer satisfaction, service quality dimensions such as reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy, fashionability/variety, price, convenience, merchandise quality and credit card usability should be considered.
The purposes of this study were to classify respondents by their fashion lifestyle and to investigate the differences in cognition, attitude and purchasing experience of SPA brands among fashion lifestyle groups. The convenience sample was drawn from females between the ages of 20 and 39 who lived in Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions from November $1^{st}$ and $15^{th}$ 2012. Descriptive statistics, cluster analysis, ANOVA, Tukey test, and ${\chi}^2$ test were applied to analyze data from 255 respondents. Four clusters (fashion-oriented group, fashion indifferent group, conservative individuality-oriented group, conservative practicality-oriented group) were developed by 16 fashion lifestyle items. The attitude toward SPA brand was classified by six factors(fashionability/variety, good location, good quality, diverse promotions, low price, limited number of merchandise, sales person's information). There were significant differences in cognition, five attitude factors (fashionability/variety, good location, good quality, low price, limited number of merchandise) and purchasing experience of SPA brands among types of fashion lifestyle. While the fashion-oriented group had the highest scores of cognition, attitude and purchasing experience of SPA brands, the fashion indifferent group or the conservative practicality-oriented group had the lowest scores. There were significant differences in age and marital status among the four groups while there were no significant differences in marital status, family monthly income, and job.
The purposes of this study were to examine the conceptual structure of shopping value, evaluative criteria of golf wear and store choice behavior, and to investigate the effect of shopping value and evaluative criteria of golf wear on store choice behavior. Data were obtained from 415 men and women aged 20-60 who had purchased golf wears living in Busan. The results of the study were as follows: Shopping value were composed of Hedonic shopping value and Utilitarian shopping value, and evaluative criteria of golf wear were consisted of Size/design.quality, Fitness/appropriateness of use, and Fashionability/brand. Stores choice behavior were composed of Atmosphere/salesperson, Diversity of product/service, Display/assortment, and convenience of location. Hedonic consumers tended to consider the price and display/assortment when they chose golf wear stores, and they were more likely to consider display/assortment mediated by fashionability/brand. But utilitarian consumers perceived less important diversity of product/service when they chose golf wear stores. Consumers who chose golf wear depending on fittness/design and quality patronaged stores offering diverse product/service.
