  • This study focused on the increasing fashion industry disputes that have resulted from the development of technology and industry. This study examines the improvement of domestic law, along with U.S. precedents that represents a larger fashion market and more legislative cases than Korea. Analyzing previous studies in Korea and the U.S. for theoretical background, it has uncovered limitations that apply to fashion design-related cases, rather than entire lawsuits involving various fashion industries. This study divided litigation into lawsuits involving products, human resources, and other lawsuits (such as incidents such as breach of contract, and portrait rights). Therefore, most lawsuits are related to products because of false socio-cultural perceptions about design imitation in the fashion industry. Lawsuits related to human resources are expected to arise due to the expansion of the Korean fashion industry and the expansion of overseas markets. Finally, new and unexpected conflicts will arise as the environment and social structure diversify. The importance of this study is that real case analysis can help reduce disputes because it can resolve legal instability due to the ambiguity of the interpretation of current law and suggest implications for dispute resolution.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the word distribution and topic distribution of slow fashion appearing on YouTube in detail and identify the characteristics and aspects related to fashion design through big data analysis and content analysis methods. The specific research results were as follows. First, in the results of the word distribution analysis, "item" appeared the most, 203 times. Also, "one-piece" was a point to pay attention to, as the item had the highest frequency. Second, a total of 5 topics were defined in the topic distribution analysis: topic 1 was "vintage products," topic 2 was "fashion items," topic 3 was "eco-friendly," topic 4 was "life quality emphasis," and topic 5 was "prudent consumption." Third, looking at the relationship between word distribution and topic distribution above, Korean slow fashion on YouTube was actively selecting related design elements that express vintage images in clothing life regardless of trends. In addition, there was a tendency to pursue various basic and high-quality items. Other than those findings, basic items tended to be reinterpreted in various ways through styling methods matched to the vintage image. Lastly, the tendency of slow and small-volume production appeared to emphasize handicrafts and the cultural values of fashion products.

The results found a positive impact of perceived ease of use on usefulness and a positive influence of usefulness on attitude and behavior intention. Attitude had a positive effect on behavior intention. In addition, technology innovativeness was found to have a positive influence on perceived ease of use and enjoyment had a positive influence on usefulness and attitude. • It is recognized that the global apparel market of the twenty-first century is largely profit driven, and that the majority of producers and retailers have sourced products from the lowest cost locations. Purchase tickets of fashion goods available from 'fast' fashion retailers (at least within the UK) refrain from providing the consumer with details of the full circumstances of production. It seems that the majority of major retailers and producers are not willing to engage in levels of self-regulation which could ensure that the products offered to consumers are ethically produced and offer acceptable levels of sustainability. Meanwhile many fashion consumers have the desire to purchase sustainable products, produced ethically by workers paid fair wages in safe working environments. Consumer demand could be a powerful tool to adjust the behaviour of manufacturers and buyers. This paper proposes the introduction of international legislation demanding greater degrees of transparency than exist currently and that the full sourcing and production details of fashion products are stated clearly on the product's purchase ticket within its retail setting. With the introduction of such legislation, consumers could thus be given the opportunity of purchasing goods which they feel accommodate their own views on ethical manufacture and sustainable products. In turn, consumer pressure could ensure indirectly that retail buyers consider all ethical and sustainable aspects of production when negotiating with garment producers/suppliers. Further to this, such a negotiating stance could ensure the improvement of the terms and conditions of employment of the numerous garment workers worldwide.

  • As a plan for establishing Korea's cultural identity and its competitive edge in the world market and for enhancing Korea's cultural status, creative and unique high value-added cultural products need to be developed utilizing our inherent cultural assets. Accordingly, this study focused on the development of the design of fashion cultural products that utilize the convergence of Hangeul our peculiar font style and Korea's cultural heritage, which is registered as part of UNESCO's World Heritage. A design method was devised that converges archetypal images of cultural property with the unique Hangeul font in a way that targets Korea's symbolic architectures. The symbolic architecture includes Korea's world-heritage pagoda architecture, such as Seokgatap pagoda and Dabotap pagoda at Bulguksa temple. It also included the architecture of royal palace, such as Injeongjeon hall at Changdeokgung palace. Finally, it also included the architecture of the fortress wall, such as Paldalmun gate in Hwaseong fortress. Thus, by developing cultural assets made from a convergence between architecture and the Hangeul font as a consumer-product image that has universality, the possibility of cultural products was pursued by applying color planning after an analysis that involved extracting the compositional colors of the flags of the world. This research and approach will lead to opportunities for further progress for Korea's cultural products in the global market as a results of additional recognition for their value, excellence, and universal appeal.

The volume of consumer-driven information has expanded since media and social networking sites have enabled consumers to share information they obtain. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors affecting information searching strategies and information sharing about fashion products. An online survey collected data from 466 respondents, relating to the influence of product price level and consumer SNS commitment level on information search and information sharing. Experimental design of three product price level and two consumer SNS commitment level was used. Analysis of the data identified factors in fashion information searching as ongoing searching, prepurchase web portal information search, and prepurchase marketing information search. For low-price fashion products, prepurchase product-detail influenced intention to share information. For mid-priced products, ongoing search significantly affected intention to share information. Both ongoing search and prepurchase marketing information search showed significant effects for high-price products. Consumers who are more committed to SNS engaged in significantly more searching in all aspects of information search factors. Significant interaction effect was detected for consumer SNS commitment level and product price level. When consumers with low consumer SNS commitment search for information on lower-priced fashion products, they are less likely do a prepurchase web portal information search.

  • This study is designed to present a direction for the development of an up-cycling design applied with Hangeul calligraphy on outdated clothing materials, and recreating them as eco-friendly high value-added cultural products. The results of this study are as follows. First, Hangeul calligraphy enhances creativity and scarcity by expressing an unformatted analog sensibility in the digital era and further emphasizes the differentiated high value-added aspect of the products. Second, the characteristics of the up-cycling design products represent eco-friendliness, handcrafting, non-fabrication, originality, scarcity, storytelling, and customization. Third, the author made 11 up-cycling cultural products using Hangeul calligraphy, applying it to discarded jeans and pieces of cloth. Fourth, the phases of making cultural products are divided into planning and production. In the planning phase, items and materials are decided upon, design sketches are made, and in the production phase the items go through partial dismantlement, separation, reconstruction, collaboration, and the application of calligraphy printing. Along with the beautiful and lyrical sensibility of Hangul, it was shown that up-cycling using Hangeul calligraphy, which has excellent originality and practicality of design, can be expanded to a variety of cultural products.
