Using wool fibers as the raw material; the knitting machine used a Bird's eye Jacquard technique-10GG. The results of this research and design work were as follows. First, the knitted clothing design using Yao clothing elements has significance for the development and flexible use of ethnic elements in contemporary creative design. Second, the straight cut design using hand-knitted and jacquard-knit fabrics can minimize waste materials and provide more possibilities for sustainable design development. • The purpose of this study is to examine the sociocultural meanings of flapper look in American society during the 1920s. Using the ProQuest database, I searched articles from The New York Times published between 1920 and 1929 for opinions and discussions on the flapper look. Keywords included "clothing," "dress," "fashion," and "flapper," and advertisements and articles on menswear, leisurewear, and bathing suits were excluded. In the resulting articles, I extracted the following sociocultural meanings: autonomy, activeness, practicality, attractiveness, and extravagance. Meanings were analyzed from the opinions and discussions focusing on skirt length, dresses that directly and indirectly exposed the body, heavy make-up, non-constricting underwear, the H-line dress, bobbed hair, hygiene, comfort, and consumption. In sum, the 1920s flapper look represented progressive characteristics such as autonomous and active womanhood and practicality, which matched the technological development of the time. However, the flapper look was commercialized and exploited to make women look attractive and extravagant. Even though American women had access to higher education, more economic power, and suffrage in the 1920s, they were limited in their ability to overcome social conventions and the power of consumerism. Understanding the double-sidedness of flapper look within the social context of the time would enhance the comprehension of the relationship between women's lifestyles and changing fashion.

  • Modern fashion manifests in forms that mirror the diverse lifestyles and personalities of consumers. It transcends mere aesthetic designs and embodyies practicality. There is a preference for comfortable, highly functional attire, leaning towards easy wear. Casual wear, in particular, embraces a sense of freedom not found in standard business attire. It seeks a comfortable, natural silhouette through tactile fabrics rather than sportswear. Loose, drop shoulder sleeves enhance comfort and mobility and often become key elements in casual wear designs. Given that clothing must balance aesthetics with functionality, especially across various activities, it is natural to prioritize functional design. Research on patterns suited for dynamic conditions is imperative. The rise of drop shoulder styles necessitates the development of corresponding sleeve patterns. It is crucial to differentiate pattern drafting methods due to the resulting silhouette variations. This study aims to categorize drop shoulder pattern drafting techniques based on shoulder extension and angle dimensions. Each method will be examined, and drop shoulder sleeve patterns and wear forms will be studied using a 3D virtual system. This research holds significance in providing valuable insights and foundational data for designing diverse drop shoulder sleeve patterns, contributing to their practical development and advancement.

From 310 questionnaires that were distributed, 310 with usable data were coded for further statistical analysis including descriptive statistics(frequency and chi-square test), by using SPSSWIN 10.0. The results were as follows: The results show that since the surveyed women's purchasing patterns were varied according to their ages it is necessary to develop new items and designs tailored for particular needs and wants of each age group. For those in their 20's, it is suggested that the innerwear design may consider reflecting the trend of the young women nowadays as characterized by a major fashion-led group who regard fashion as a way of expressing themselves and are not hesitant to wear clothing designed to be exposed their body. The innerwear products for women in their 30's and 40's should emphasize on the aspects of customizing and satisfying these women's different lifestyles. The study also reveal that for age groups of the 50's and 60's women these products should be developed in a way to intensify functions of thermal property and absorbency coupled with a classic design rather than daring styles. In conjunction with material developments it is necessary to establish a sizing system for the knitted innerwear products which reflect the specific characteristics of women's body type in their middle-and later years.

  • This study is about the development of hybrid bag designs using folk paintings and the paintings of Pieter Brueghel. For the development of design, the study examined the periodical, ideological background, aesthetic characteristics, composition and themes of folk paintings, and Brueghel's paintings. Through a literature review, many similarities were found between folk paintings and Brueghel's paintings, such as symbolism and humor, which are aesthetic characteristics of folk paintings, and the use of stories, myths, folktales, or satire with a background of nature. In addition, hybrid fashions made by mixing conflicting elements, such as East and West, men and women, and rich and poor are attracting attention. However, the development of hybrid fashion designs of Korean folk paintings and Western paintings are rare. So, folktale characters were produced on Korean folktales. The deer expressed in the Bible Agatha, the tiger in from a Korean folktale, magpies are symbols of longevity. The folk painting characters described above, and the folk paintings of Peter Bruegel were fused and reconstructed. The bag designs were developed based on this fused and reconstructed work. The significance of this study is to expand folk paintings that reflect Korea's representative thoughts and lifestyles through the fusion of various motifs and Western paintings, and to present folk paintings as a medium that can inherit Korean beauty and inform the world.

  • This study looks at the patterns of married women's lifestyles and verifies whether there are differences in their preferences, the will to continue shopping, and the importance of healthy foods. The paper analyzes the relative influence of each lifestyle pattern on the level of satisfaction with healthy foods. The results of the analysis of this study are as follows. To find patterns in the lifestyles of married women ages 20s to 50s, the factors were analyzed and five lifestyle patterns were extracted: health managing type, fashion pursuing type, self-expressing type, family-oriented type, and eco-friendly type. If we examine the purchasing of healthy foods for each lifestyle, women with a self-expressing lifestyle gain more information from news articles, books, and salespeople than from other information sources. Women of the health managing, family-oriented, and eco-friendly types had high purchasing frequencies and amounts. A cluster analysis was carried out to categorize the different groups being investigated into lifestyle types. They were categorized into the four clusters: active multiple-oriented type; fashion, self-expressing compromising type; passive well-being oriented type; and family and health managing type. It has been verified that there are differences among the clusters in terms of the level of importance of products, contributions to health, as well as distribution and management of healthy foods. To be more specific, the level of importance of the products as well as their distribution and management manifested as being higher among the active multiple-oriented type and the family-oriented and health managing types. The level of importance of contributions to health scored high among all groups, except the passive well-being oriented type. The active multiple-oriented type and the family-oriented and health managing types showed a high level of preference and will to continue purchasing healthy foods, while the fashion and self-expressing compromising types and passive well-being oriented type showed a low level of preference and will. In order to find patterns in the level of satisfaction with healthy foods, three factors were analyzed: credibility of labels, contributions to health, and satisfaction with the store. The factors that had the greatest influence on the total level of satisfaction was the credibility of labels for the family-oriented lifestyle; a product's contribution to health for the health managing lifestyle; and the store for the fashion pursuing lifestyle.
