The purpose of this study was to explore ways to help reduce adolescents' academic stress by exploring the influences of parental learning involvement and family strengths on academic stress. The research participants were 445 middle school students living in Gwangju. Data were collected from self-reported questionnaires and analyzed with SPSS 23.0 program. The major findings were as follows: First, the parental learning involvement(provision of learning option, democratic rules, encouragement of academic progress) and academic stress showed significant differences according to gender. There was a significant difference in academic stress depending on school year, but there was no significant difference in parental learning involvement. The family strengths did not show significant difference according to gender or school year. The parental learning involvement(provision of learning option, democratic rules, pursuit of adequate performance, academic information, total), family strengths, and academic stress showed significant differences according to economic status. Second, the adolescents' academic stress was influenced by parental learning involvement(encouragement of academic progress, democratic rules, pursuit of adequate performance) and family strengths. Approximately 30 percent of the adolescents' academic stress was explained by these variables.
This study aimed to investigate the effects a strengths-based group counselling program had on self-esteem and career maturity of adolescents under probation. The subjects of the study were female adolescents under probation in Gwangju and were categorized into two groups: experiment group and control group consisting of 15 respectively. As a result, it was discovered that the strengths-based group counselling program had positive effects on enhancement of general and social self-esteem in the subjects while it did not have statistically significant effects on enhancement of family self-esteem. It indicates that positive relationship with parents and recovery of family functions should be encouraged to enhance the family self-esteem. Also, the strengths-based group counselling program had positive effects on planning, self-understanding, career knowledge and career preparation areas relating to career maturity while it did not have statistically significant effects on independence. It shows that to encourage the subjects to be independently prepared for career, family and society should provide more specific support for career guidance. Based on the results above, it was suggested that the strengths-based group counselling program had significant effects on self-esteem and career maturity of the subjects under probation. In conclusion, to encourage adolescents under probation to respect themselves and others, specifically plan their career and grow to be reliable and mature adults, further research on the strengths-based group counselling program is needed and diverse strategies including specific support through mentor service of college students should be developed.

The purpose of this study was to identify determinants for the perception of traditional food and the probability of belonging to the succession group of traditional food. This study also analyzed foods for seasonal custom and strengths as well as direction concerning improvement of traditional foods, while taking the housewives' hometowns into account. Data were collected from 304 housewives living on Baengnyeong island. Regression analysis showed that family income, age, type, years of residence on Baengnyeong island and hometown were significantly related to the perception of traditional food. Among the significant variables, hometown was the most important factor in explaining perceptional differences. Logit analysis indicated that the probability of belonging to the succession group of traditional food was high with low educational level, high perceptional degree, and North Korea as a native country. The results of chi-square analysis proved that foods associated with seasonal custom, strengths and the improvement of traditional food were different between housewives having South Korea and North Korea as a native country. In this article, similarities and differences in the foods associated with seasonal customs, strengths and the direction concerning improvement of traditional foods are discussed, and implications for both nutritionists and food marketers are provided.
