The goal of this study is to try to grasp the general feature, familism, and social support network of the separated family who came south over the border, on them who are residing inland, as a part of the work to clarify the diverse form and specialty that Korean family have. To summarize the result simply is as follows: 1. The difference is showing, between separated family and non-separated family, in the family preference and the consciousness to respect parents, among the range of familism. That is, in case of the separated family, family preference and the consciousness to respect parents showed higher, in comparison with the non-separated family. 2. Between separated family and non-separated family, the difference showed only in the support network of relative. So, the support network of relative of non-separated family showed higher than that of separated family. Through above conclusion, the situation which is the losing native place and the separated which occurred due to war and the dividing into sections is influencing our family life. But, on the other hand, it can be seen that the influence is becoming void gradually.
Family member network of kings in Chosun dynasty shows scale free network properties as if most social networks do. One of distinct topological properties of the network is relatively high diameter that reflects dataset composed of the one generation continuously falling to next one. When k-core algorithm as a useful tool for obtaining a core network from the complex family member network was employed, it is possible to obtain hidden and valuable information from a complex network. Unfortunately, it is found that k-core algorithm is not useful tool for applying narrow and deep structural network. The family member network is composed of kings, queens, princes, and princesses. It is possible to separate sub-family members and to construct sub-family member networks such as queen-centered, prince-centered, and princess-centered networks. Sub-family member networks provide an useful and hidden information. These results provide new insight that is analyzed by network-based approaches for the family member of the kings in the Chosun dynasty.
The present study investigated the effect of area-specific social networks on urban workers life satisfaction. For this, 356 adults over age 20 were interviewed from June 17th 2013 to June 29th 2013. The findings are as follows: First, the closeness of family network index demonstrates that participants with higher affective support have higher life satisfaction. In addition, stronger extended family network brings more life satisfaction and so does a bigger friendship network. Secondly, the extended family network explains 17.6% of the variance in social networks follows by family network, other network, and friendship network, respectively. The closeness variable of social networks yields statistical significance on all categories of networks. The affective support level in the closeness variable of social networks shows differences as well; family network positively associates with life satisfaction. The purposes of this research are to investigate the actual conditions of urban workers' life satisfaction and the influence of family, extended family, friendship, and other variables on life satisfaction. If social networks have an influence on life satisfaction, to find the domain of social networks that holds the most influences on life satisfaction is an important ground in the process of implementing regional welfare.

The major results were as following. First, the elderly did contact his/her children often, emotional support revealed that highest support expectation of elderly. Second, The family network of elderly could be typified four types ; 'relation estranged type', 'children-grandchildren centered type', 'family dependent type', 'couples centered type' and statistically significant difference showed in life satisfaction according to each type. The result, in the 'couples centered type', the life satisfaction was highest; on the contrary, 'relation estranged type', it was lowest. Third, Influencing factors on life satisfaction of the old person were economic conditions, physical conditions, education level, sex, more frequent contacts with grandchild, emotional support expectation of spouses. The results of this study suggest that social welfare political and institutional efforts are needed to improve the relationship between older persons and their children, grandchildren and spouses and life satisfaction of the elderly.

The purposes of this study are to explore the effect of the network characteristics of Healthy Family Support Center on its performance, and also to investigate the mediating effect of the organizational properties on the performance. We used the data from 148 healthy family support centers in National Survey in Korea. The analytic sample for this study consists of 102 responses.(response rate=68.9%) Multivariate regression model estimated the effects of the network's structural, interactive and functional characteristics and the interaction between the network's characteristics and organizational properties on the performance The findings of this study demonstrate that healthy family support centers with higher closeness centrality and with better functional characteristics reported more performances. Moreover, Centers that are more independent in organizational properties showed higher performances. However, the findings did not show that the interaction between the network's characteristics and organizational properties mediates on the performance.
This study investigated how different relationships the family has with its social networks by social class. Among research families' primary social networks, the wife's relatives are the most, the neighbor the second, the husband's relative the third, and the church (or other religious groups) the fourth. Social class does not make any difference in what social network is the family's primary social network. When the husband or the wife participates in a social network, he or she tends to participate alone without his or her spouse. When the husband's educational level is high, the wife tends to participate in her alumni association alone. When the husband is in a professional or a white-collar occupation, he is likely to socialize with his work associates alone. On the contrary, when the family income gets high, the husband tends to bring his wife to his alumni association. When looking for a job, most husbands and wives do not resort to a social network for help. Lower-class people are more likely to obtain jobs through their social networks compared to higher-class people. That is, the lower one's educational levle, one's occupational status, or the family income is, the more likely one gets help from some social networks in searching jobs.

The objective of this research is to analyze how main social relation network of middle-aged women such as family, friends and neighbors, etc affects the preference for silver town. For this objective, structured questionnaires were distributed to 309 middle-aged women at the age of 40-59 years old living in Seoul and new cities of metropolitan area. Statistics such as ANOVA, Pearson Coefficient and Multiple Regression were adopted for statistical analysis. The main result of this research is as follows: First, housewives showed higher preference for silver town than people involved in other occupations. Second, though the relation of friends and neighbors among the social relation network of middle-aged women affected the preference for silver town, that of family did not affect significantly. The result of this research suggests that it is necessary to adopt policy considering the relation of friends and neighbors among the social relation network of middle-aged women so as to activate silver town.

The data for his study were collected in the winter of 1995 from 417 housewives in Pusam wholse youngest child has graduated from elementary schools. Analyses of these data proved that (1) contrary to the classical "middle-age cristis" theory the average level of the perceived life satisfaction of middle-aged wives is relatively high; (2) there is a strong positive correla ion between the global level of social support and the overall life satisfaction of middle-aged wives; (3) the family of origin network is the most important provider of social support to middle-aged wives; and (4) the effects of social support on the perceived life satisfaction of middle-aged wives differ across types and sources of support. Findings showed that emotional informational and companionship support from the family of origin network have significantly positive effects on the perceived life satisfaction of middle-aged wives.
