A family of continuous probability distribution has been characterized through the difference of two conditional expectations, conditioned on a non-adjacent record statistic. Also, a result based on the unconditional expectation and a conditional expectation is used to characterize a family of distributions. Further, some of its deductions are also discussed.

The family Lyctocoridae was taxonomically reviewed on the Korean peninsula with the finding of a new record, Lyctocoris ichikawai Yamada & Yasunaga, 2012. Morphological information such as a description of genitalia and a diagnosis as well as a key to the Korean species of the family is provided.

Erlang-truncated exponential distribution is widely used in the field of queuing system and stochastic processes. This family of distribution include exponential distribution. In this paper we establish some exact expression and recurrence relations satisfied by the quotient moments and conditional quotient moments of the upper record values from the Erlang-truncated exponential distribution. Further a characterization of this distribution based on recurrence relations of quotient moments of record values is presented.

Generalized Pareto distributions play an important role in re-liability, extreme value theory, and other branches of applied probability and statistics. This family of distribution includes exponential distribution, Pareto distribution, and Power distribution. In this paper we establish some recurrences relations satisfied by the quotient moments of the upper record values from the generalized Pareto distribution. Further a char-acterization of this distribution based on recurrence relations of quotient moments of record values is presented.

As multicultural family gradually increased, our society is changing towards multicultural society. This study tried to identify the factors related with social distance of adolescent of multicultural family. The participants were 568 middle school students living in S city, D and H county in Chungnam province. Data for the study were analyzed by frequency, mean comparison, correlation and regression analysis. The study results were summarized as follows. First, there were significant differences in social distance according to gender, school record, and place of residence. Second, there were significant differences in social distance according to degree of intimacy between general adolescents. Third, as a result of correlation analysis, the lower self-esteem was, the lower value orientation was, the lower cultural diversity was; the higher social distance is. Accordingly, social distance for adolescents had negative correlations with self-esteem, value orientation, and cultural diversity. Fourth, variables affecting social distance were gender, school record, family composition, place of residence, friend from multicultural family, intention to be a friend, experience of overseas travel, self-esteem, value orientation, cultural diversity. Among them, intention to be a friend was a main predictor.

Blasticotoma filiceti pacifica Malaise, 1931, os recognized from Korea based on a female specimen collected at Mt. Odae-san, Kangwon-do, This is the first record of the family Blasticotomidae from Korea.

A newly recorded species, Aora pseudotypica Hirayama, 1984, belonging to the family Aoridae Stebbing, 1899 was collected from Geomundo and Jejudo Islands in South Korea. This species is characterized by having large triangular process on basis of male gnathopod 1. It is morphologically similar to A. typica Krøyer, 1845, but distinguishable by the lack of a large rounded process on the anterior margins of basis and ischium on male gnathopod 1 and having small distal segment on outer ramus of uropod 3. To date, only two genera, Aoroides Walker, 1898 and Grandidierella Coutière, 1904, of the family Aoridae have been recorded in Korea, so this is the first record of the genus Aora from Korea.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify influences of child-rearing attitude and parent-school age communication on self-efficacy of 5th and 6th graders. Methods: Data were collected using questionnaires from 460 5th and 6th graders in S city. The data were analyzed using SPSS WIN program. Results: There were significant differences in child-rearing attitude according to gender, mother's level of education, perceived atmosphere and religion. Self-efficacy was significantly correlated with school record, family income, mother's level of education, father's level of education, and perceived atmosphere. There were significant differences in communication with father according to father's level of education, and perceived atmosphere. Communication with mother was significantly correlated with father's level of education, mother's level of education and perceived atmosphere. The relative influence toward the children's self-efficacy shown in the order of importance was as follows; child-rearing attitude, school record, communication with mother, communication with father, father's level of education, family income. Conclusion: From the study, self-efficacy appears to be influenced by multiple factors such as child-rearing attitude, school record, communication with mother, communication with father, father's level of education, and family income.

Leptocephali of the genus Saurenchelys in the family Nettastomatidae were collected from the coastal area of Pohang, Korea and described as the first record from Korean waters. S. stylura and S. lateromaculatus are characterized by two intestinal swellings, the pattern of pigments in the notochord, and by smaller pectoral fins than those of other genus. They are very similar to each other but they are distinguished by the pattern of pigments in the notochord and the intestinal swellings.
