  • This study investigates the antecedents and mechanisms influencing trust and behavioral intentions formation towards new AI chatbots, such as ChatGPT, as travel information searching services. Analyzing the roles of variables such as familiarity, novelty, personal innovativeness, information quality and perceived anthropomorphism, the research elucidates the impact of these factors on users' cognitive and affective trust, ultimately affecting their intention to adopt information and sustain the use of the AI chatbot. Results indicate that perceived familiarity and information quality positively influence both cognitive and affective trust, whereas perceived novelty contributes positively only to cognitive trust. Additionally, the personal innovativeness of new AI chatbot users was found to weaken the effect of familiarity on perceived trust, while the perceived level of anthropomorphism of the chatbot amplified the effects of novelty and familiarity on cognitive trust. These findings underscore the importance of considering factors such as familiarity, personal innovativeness, information quality and anthropomorphism in the design and implementation of AI chatbots, affecting trust and behavioral intention.

Based on the familiarity of the brand, the complexity of the message, and the novelty of the advertisement, this research is discovered with preferred images of automobile companies as well as the connectivity by analyzing architectural buildings emerging with various background images of automobile advertisements. After analyzing all three elements for the advertising communication, the conclusions through case investigations of nine automobile companies are the below. Firstly, the familiarity of the brand from nine automobile companies was high ranked satisfaction scores after questionnaire surveys. Secondly, all the aspects for the space, formative, material, height, and utilization related to the complexity of the message are not only matched the preferred images which automobile companies persue but the same preferred design elements after reviewing the most preferred and next most preferred images from the companies. Lastly, the methods for emphasizing the automobile itself which is related to the novelty of the advertisement simplify background images along with preferred artificial structures.

  • This study aims to examine if a consumer's evaluations of and purchase intentions towards textiles and apparel-related cultural products are influenced by their culture, as indicated by their nationalities. Additionally, several psychological variables, such as novelty-seeking tendency, world-mindedness, and familiarity with Northeast Asian culture were included in the analyses to compare the relative importance of cultural influences with the importance of individual characteristics. To conduct a quantitative analysis, we collected data from 400 female consumers in two countries: 200 from the USA and 200 from China. Key findings showed that, nationality and novelty-seeking were found to have a strong influence on purchase intention when product evaluation variables were not included. Evaluation of appearance and Northeast Asian design emerged highly significant predictors of purchase intention for Korean cultural products, regardless of the product type. Cross cultural comparative research on cultural product evaluations is extremely rare. This study focused on groups of consumers residing in the US and China and asked them to evaluate a series of textiles and apparel-related cultural products produced in Korea.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the perceptions of novelty space among pre-service elementary and secondary earth science teachers. We conducted a survey to explore the perceptions of 38 pre-service elementary school teachers at the National University of Education and 31 pre-service secondary earth science teachers at the Department of Earth Science Education at B University. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 12 participants, including three pre-service elementary teachers and nine pre-service secondary science teachers. In addition to the elements of novelty space, prior knowledge (cognition), prior outdoor learning experience (psychology), familiarity (geography) with outdoor field learning, and social and technical elements were added. When classified based on elementary and secondary levels, there were statistically significant differences in cognitive, psychological, geographic, and social areas for the elements of novelty space. Statistical differences indicated that the experience or capital related to outdoor learning may have resulted from more pre-service secondary earth science teachers than pre-service elementary teachers. In additional interviews, both elementary and secondary pre-service teachers reported that competencies in the technical domain would be emphasized in the future owing to the necessity and the technical development of virtual-reality-based outdoor field learning programs. This study emphasizes the academic significance of novelty space that should be considered to conduct geological field learning for elementary and secondary earth science pre-service teachers while considering the current post-pandemic educational context.

The group of people who watched a TV commercial including both product & non-product related elements showed higher mean attitude towards the ad. Second, the ad with both product & non-product elements led more favorable attitude towards the ad when brand familiarity is high. Finally, the group of male participants showed more favorable attitude towards the ad with both product & non-product related elements when brand familiarity is low. Findings from this study will be able to provide a valuable contribution to the strategic decision-making process as ad agencies look for the basis for consideration of creative strategy in TV advertising.
