An Empirical Study on the Determinants of Trust in Internet Shopping Mall : A Comparison of Korean and Chinese Users (인터넷 쇼핑몰의 신뢰 결정요인에 관한 실증연구 : 한국.중국 이용자 비교 분석)

  • The objectives of this study are to investigate factors influencing trust on internet shopping mall and to examine whether these factors on trust have differences between Korean and Chinese users. Based on the literature reviews, this study employs six factors in two groups of influencing factors, web-site characteristics and individual characteristics as key determinants of trust in internet shopping mall. Analysis of 470 responses(Korean: 320 users, Chinese: 150 users) of survey questionnaire indicates the following: In terms of the relationship between web-site characteristics factors and the trust, the results showed significant differences between Korean and Chinese samples. For the Korean samples, transaction security and interactivity were the only significant influencing factors. For the Chinese samples, perceived reputation and perceived size were the only significant factors. In terms of individual characteristics factors, the influencing factors were found identical for the samples. Both propensity to trust and familarity were significant factors in both Korean and Chinese samples. Based on the findings, managerial implications are discussed in building user trust in internet shopping mall in Korean and Chinese market.

  • Scientific texts are some of major sources for scientific understanding. Therefore, reading scientific texts should be considered as an important learning activity. However, there is little research about reading scientific text in Korea. In this study, as a starting point for research about reading scientific text, lists of scientific text constituents and scientific text functions are suggested based on a comprehensive literature review. The study also reviewed how scientific text structure, familarity of scientific text and analogy involved in scientific text can affect students' scientific understanding through reading scientific text. Finally, further study plans, such as analysis of actual science textbooks using the lists suggested in this study as well as the investigation of actual students' thinking processes when reading scientific text, were described.

Building Customer Loyalty with Trust and Familarity in the Internet-based Shopping-mall (인터넷쇼핑몰에서 신뢰와 친밀감이 고객충성도에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • In the Internet-based B2C e-commerce, trust has been recognized as a critical factor to reduce uncertainties, through interacting with a well-known specific shopping mall. In this study, we view customer trust as not a unitary concept but multidimensional one consisted of the trustworthiness of trustee, familiarity with the specific shopping-mall, disposition to trust, and institution-based trust. In this study, first, we considered the trustworthiness of trustee consisted of capability, benevolence, and integrity as one of the major factors to build customer trust on the specific Internet shopping-mall. In the context of the Internet e-commerce, the role of institutional structures is very important to assure the customer trust from the various opportunistic behaviors because of the characteristics of internet-based commerce such as impersonality, the lack of information on the other party, and the transactions with a number of anonymous people. Second, we examined the effect of the institution-based trust built by institutional structures on customer trust. Third, we examined the effect of customer trust and familiarity on retaining customer loyalty. Our findings showed that customer trust and familiarity played a major role in retaining customer loyalty with the specific shopping-mall. In conclusions, we discussed the strategies to build the customer loyalty for maintaining the customer. We suggest customer trust and familiarity for the factors to bind the customer with the specific shopping-mall based on these results.

Study on the Importance of Rural Hanok and Rural Landscaping - Focused on Experts Opinion Analysis- (농촌경관에 있어서 한옥의 가치에 관한 연구 -전문가 의견분석을 중심으로-)

  • This study uses expert analysis as a method of research to identify the value of hanok in rural landscapes. To do so, the study conducted the Delphi method and the AHP survey twice. First, the Delphi method was used on experts who have either studied rural landscape, regional development, hanok or have adequate knowledge in such areas, concerning the definiton of sustainable rural landscapes, the role of hanok in rural landscapes, the problems rural hanoks face, and the preservation and utilzation of rural hanok. Based on this, the AHP survey was conducted. The survey results showed that sustainable rural landscapes are 'landscapes in which the transformation proces coexists from traditonal to modern times.' The role of the rural hanok was shown to be 'the forming of landscapes that expres the historical flow of the vilage.' In the subsequent survey of rural landscapes, the order of import limitationance of hanok was regionality, historicity, harmoniousnes, eco-friendlines and familarity. However, a may be that this study is based on expert opinion which may not be regarded as universal. Therefore, future research on the basis of this study wil have to be conducted in a way to identify the value of hanok in rural landscapes from the perspective of various groups.

A Study on Motives Behind Food Choices of Foreigners Living in Korea (국내 거주 외국인의 음식 선택 동기에 관한 연구)

  • A number of factors are thought to influence people's food choices, and there has recently been an increasing emphasis on understanding the consumer's motives behind choice of food types. For one thing, an individual's personal food-related tastes are thought to certainly influence personal food choice. This study aimed to discover the new motives for food, and what motives determine the food choice of foreigners living in Korea. Subjects (N=210) completed a Food Choice Questionnaire (65 questions) measuring specific motives and sociodemographic conditions (9 questions). Factor analysis and ANOVA were used to ascertain the food choice motives. Fourteen factors emerged, which were labeled health, mood, convenience, sensory appeal, natural content, price, weight control, familarity, political value, ecological protection. and religion. We also found that motives for new food choices include national image and information, ethnic food, and sanitation. Items were analysed to determine differences according to nationality, religion, occupation, and length of residence in Korea. All subjects thought sanitation is the most important motive in choice of food, and health, natural content, and ethnic food were also important.

Simple Frame Marker: Implementation of In-Marker Image and Character Recognition and Tracking Method (심플 프레임 마커: 마커 내부 이미지 및 문자 패턴의 인식 및 추적 기법 구현)

  • In this paper, we propose Simple Frame Marker(SFMarker) to support recognition of characters and images included in a marker in augmented reality. If characters are inserted inside of marker and are recognised using Optical Character Recognition(OCR), it doesn't need marker learning process before an execution. It also reduces visual disturbance compared to 2D barcode marker due to familarity of characters. Therefore, proposed SFMarker distinguishes Square SFMarker that embeds images from Rectangle SFMarker with characters according to ratio of marker and applies different recognition algorithms. Also, in order to reduce preprocessing of character recognition, SFMarker inserts direction information in border of marker and extracts it to execute character recognition fast and correctly. Finally, since the character recognition for every frame slows down tracking speed, we increase the speed of recognition process using the result of character recognition in previous frame when frame difference is low.

The Influence of Brand Origin and Ethnocentrism on Sponsorship Attitude of Global Brand (브랜드 원산지 및 자국민 중심주의적 관계가 글로벌 브랜드의 스폰서쉽에 미치는 영향)

  • When the marketer wants to execute the sport sponsorship, he(she) has to consider the numerous intervening variables for the effective results. This study illuminates the relationship between these kind of intervening variables of brand origin, familarity, and consume's ethnocentric delinquencies to the sponsorship attitude. The result shows according to the country origin of brand, the consumer's perception of the attitude to the sponsor brand is changed. That is the more positive of the consumer perceive to the brand origin, the more positive to the sponsoring brand attitude. That means the consumer can judge the pro or con of that kind of sponsorship through the mental accounting. But the consumer believes the global sponsorship helps the sport team. The second result shows that the familiarity toward COO(country of brand origin) affects to the sport sponsorship positively. The subjects respond that when the sponsor COO is not so familiar to them, they can discount the sponsor effect of sponsorship. The third result is that there is litter influence of ethnocentrism of sport sponsorship.

  • This study is to identify the factors and explore the moderating effects of gender in influencing customer behavioral intention to adopt mobile commerce in Shanghai and Guangzhou in China. An extended study based on TRA, TPB and TAM, UTAUT, technology adoption model is applied for designing on this study model of behavioral intention to adopt mobile commerce focused on emotional variables and cross-gender differences. The results of analysis reveal that the effects of perceived risk, personal innovativeness, individual familarity and social influence on behavioral intentions to adopt mobile commerce as well as to differ across gender. Differences cross gender is specially the perceived risk and social influence. Findings imply that mobile commerce operators need to be communicated to female consumers, the risk-free quality including security, payment and certification system along with the social influence of using mobile commerce. When targeting female consumers in China, the word of mouth marketing strategic approach and improvement of communications of mobile commerce should be focused.

  • The military is facing an era in which it must take advantage of technologies related with the 4th Industrial Revolution. The representative of the final application of the 4th Industrial Revolution technology is the unmanned system. Many unmanned systems have not yet been harnessed to the army, and it is assumed based on literature studies that improving familiarity with unmanned systems will have a positive effect on force strength in the future. To verify these assumptions, the structural equation model(SEM) was used for quantitative analysis. The results suggest that the increase in familiarity with unmanned systems induces the increase in availability of unmanned systems in each field, which eventually raises the expectation that overall ground force strength will increase. These results imply that the military should reinforce the curriculum that enhances the familiarity of the unmanned system in military education system.

  • Final regulatory steps for commercialization of transgenic crops are risk assessment and variety registration. The risk assessment of transgenic crops requires broad network of scientists, high cost and long term. Developers of transgenic crops, therefore, face to additional challenges to consider theoretical and strategic aspects on risk assessment. The general concept for risk assessment of genetically modified organisms was derived from chemical risk assessment. Due to the complexity of organisms, however, comparative approaches that are substantial equivalence and familarity have been developed. In practical view, the integration of risk assessment is more difficult than the evaluation of each risk factors involving gene flow, toxicity and allergenicity. Variety registration of transgenic crops requires the results of risk assessment compared with non-GM crops and agronomic data analyzed with standard varieties. For economic and fast commercialization, risk assessment process should combined with condition of cultivation test for variety registration.
