Pattern Design and Structural Test for the Involute Construction (인볼루트 구조물의 적층패턴설계 및 구조시험)

  • In order to fabricate a involute construction structure, the pattern design for prepreg stacking was developed. For obtaining the demanded strength in the circumferencial and axial direction of the involute construction and tile proper processablity of prepreg stacking, the shaped pattern method was established which has a calculated length suitable for stacking. We can obtain the involute construction with clean interface between laminated plies and suitable dimension by using pattern design method developed in this study. Test specimens with varied arc angle were designed to test the structural properties of involute construction. Tensile and compressive strength decreased with the increase of arc angle. Tensile modulus and compressive failure strain were calculated under the conditon of transformation of material properties successfully.

  • We diagnosed the defect using the data obtained from the nuclear power plant simulator. In this paper, we diagnosed faults in the nuclear power plant system for discovery instead of the traditional single-component or device unit. We created the six fault scenarios and used a fault simulator to obtain the fault data. It was extracted pattern from acquired failure data. Neural network model was trained and simple pattern matching algorithm was applied. We presented a simulation result and confirmed that the applied algorithm works correctly.

  • The cross sectional image of thin oxide failure of MOS device could be observed by Emission Microscope and Focused Ion Beam at the weak point. The oxide failures in low electric field was associated with the presence of a particle or abnormal pattern. The failures occuring at medium field are related to a pit of Si substrate. The pits could be originated from the microdefects of Cz Si wafer.

  • Yield enhancement in semiconductor fabrication is important. Even though DRAM yield loss may be attributed to many problems, the existence of defects on the wafer is one of the main causes. When the defects on the wafer form patterns, it is usually an indication for the identification of equipment problems or process variations. In this paper describes the techniques to automatically classify a failure pattern using a fail bit map.

  • Difficulties are encountered when the behavior of complex systems (i.e., fuel failure probability) that have unreliable deterministic models is predicted. For more realistic prediction of the behavior of complex systems with limited observational data, the present study was undertaken to devise an approach of combining predictions from the deterministic model and actual observational data. Predictions by this method of combining are inferred to be of higher reliability than separate predictions made by either model taken independently. A systematic method of hierarchical pattern discovery based on the method developed in the SPEAR was used for systematic search of weighting factors and pattern boundaries for the present method. A sample calculation was performed for prediction of CANDU fuel failures that had occurred due to power ramp during refuelling process. It was demonstrated by this sample calculation that there exists a region of feature space in which fuel failure probability from the PROFIT model nearly agree with that from observational data.

  • In this paper, we designed an algorithm that can control the state of PM by learning the chain failure pattern of PHM based air conditioning facility. It is an inevitable spread of PM due to the downtime caused by the failure of the air conditioning facility. The algorithm developed by us is to establish a PM management system through PHM, and it is an algorithm that maintains a constant stabilization state through learning the stop/operation pattern of the air conditioner and manages PM based on this. As a result of the simulating at a subway station for the performance qualification of the algorithm, it was verified that the concentration of PM reduces by 30% on average. In the case of stations with many passengers using the subway, the concentration of PM exceeded the Ministry of Environment Standards(100 ㎍/m3), but it was verified that the concentration of PM was improved at all stations where the simulation was conducted. In the future research is to expand the system to comprehensively manage not only PM but also pollutants such as CO2, CO, and NO2 in subway stations.

  • The size and distribution of welding residual stress and welding deformation in welding structures have an effect on various sorts of damage like brittle failure, fatigue failure and stress corrosion cracking. So, research for this problem is necessary continuously. In this study, non-destructive technique using laser electronic speckle pattern interferometry, plate of welding specimen according to the external load on the entire behavior of residual stress are presented measurement techniques. Once, welding specimen force tensile loading, using electronic speckle pattern interferometry is measured. welding specimen of base metal and weld zone measure strain from measured result, this using measure elastic modulus. In this study, electronic speckle pattern interferometry use weld zone and base metal parts of the strain differences using were presented in residual stress calculated value, This residual stress value were calculated by numerical calculation. Consequently, weld zone of modulus high approximately 3.7 fold beside base metal and this measured approximately 8.46 MPa.

  • In a strengthened bridge deck which received increased service loads, failure patterns of bridge deck vary depending on deck thickness, compressive strength of concrete, yielding strength of reinforcement, reinforcement ratio and additional strengthening ratio. General failure pattern that is most commonly reported as punching shear failure after the main rebar yields, followed by yielding of distributing rebar. In this paper, by Proposing a limit to the amount of strengthening material, a brittle failure can be prevented and a ductile failure mode similar to that developed in unstrengthened deck is derived.   • This paper presents the results of an investigation on the failure mechanism of geosynthetic-reinforced segmental retaining walls in tiered arrangement using reduced-scale model tests. In this laboratory model tests, a reduced scale model of the full-scale geosynthetic-reinforced wall which was constructed in Geotechnical Experimental Site at Sungkyunkwan University was used to perform a study on the failure mechanism. In order to a high degree of realism, the geometry of the wall and the material properties were selected applying Similitude Laws was used to perform laboratory model tests. And contrary to the previous failure tests with various surcharge pressures, the failure by the tired wall weight was observed. Primary variables considered in the model tests include the different offset distance between the tiers and the different reinforcement length in the lower tier and as a result of the parametric study, a different failure pattern was observed.

The effect of chlorhexidine varnish application on the shear bond strength of orthodontic brackets (클로르헥시딘 바니쉬의 적용이 교정용 브라켓의 전단접착강도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to determine whether the application of chlorhexidine varnish affects the shear bond strength and failure pattern of orthodontic brackets or not. The experimental group consisted of 22 human premolars which extracted after chlorhexidine varnish application (4 times for 1 week interval) in vivo, and the control group consisted of 22 human premolars which extracted without any pre-treatment. After all teeth were etched with $37\%$ phosphoric acid gel, metal orthodontic brackets (Q-3002, RMO, USA) were bonded to each tooth using auto-polymerizing orthodontic resin (Ortho-One, Bisco, USA) with the same bonding procedure. The shear bond strength was measured with Instron universal testing machine (model 4466, Instron Ltd., England), and the failure pattern of each bracket was examined with Scanning Electron Microscope (SM 840A, JEOL, Japan). The data were analysed statistically with t-test. The results were as follows : 1. Application of chlorhexidine varnish had no significant effect on the shear bond strength of the orthodontic bracket. 2. There was no significant difference in the failure pattern of orthodontic bracket between the experimental group and the control group.
