In this paper, we propose a method about reducing facial blemishes using Morphological Operation. First, we detect skin region using pixel data of RGB's each channel image. we create histogram of skin region R, G, B channel and save 3 pixel values that are high frequency pixel value in each channel. After than, we find facial blemishes using Black-hat operation. The pixel value of facial blemishes changes average of its pixel value, 8-neighborhood pixel value and high frequency pixel values. And the facial blemishes pixel is blurred with median filter. The result of this test with facial pictures that have facial blemishes, we prove that this system that correct the face skin using reduction facial Blemishes is more efficient method than correct the face skin just using lighting up.
This paper presents a highly fast and accurate facial region extraction method by using the skin-color-reference map and motion information. First, we construct the robust skin-color-reference map and eliminate the background in image by this map. Additionally, we use the motion information for accurate and fast detection of facial region in image sequences. Then we further apply region growing in the remaining areas with the aid of proposed criteria. The simulation results show the improvement in execution time and accurate detection.
In this paper, we propose a registration method of 3d facial scan data and CBCT data using voxelization and distance map. First, two data sets are initially aligned by exploiting the voxelization of 3D facial scan data and the information of the center of mass. Second, a skin surface is extracted from 3D CBCT data by segmenting air and skin regions. Third, the positional and rotational differences between two images are accurately aligned by performing the rigid registration for the distance minimization of two skin surfaces. Experimental results showed that proposed registration method correctly aligned 3D facial scan data and CBCT data for ten patients. Our registration method might give useful clinical information for the oral surgery planning and the diagnosis of the treatment effects after an oral surgery.

Recently, as people's interest in facial skin beauty has increased, research on skin disease recognition for facial skin beauty is being conducted by using deep learning. These studies recognized a variety of skin diseases, including acne. Existing studies can recognize only the single skin diseases, but skin diseases that occur on the face can enact in a more diverse and complex manner. Therefore, in this paper, complex skin diseases such as acne, blackheads, freckles, age spots, normal skin, and whiteheads are identified using the Inception-ResNet V2 deep learning mode with multi-label classification. The accuracy was 98.8%, hamming loss was 0.003, and precision, recall, F1-Score achieved 96.6% or more for each single class.

Background: Surgery for reconstruction of defects after surgery should be performed selectively and the many points must be considered. The authors conducted this study to compare the local flap and skin graft by facial location in the reconstruction after resection of facial skin cancer. Methods: The authors performed the study in patients that had received treatment in Department of Plastic Surgery, Gyeongsang National University. The cases were analyzed according to the reconstruction methods for the defects after surgery, sex, age, tumor site, and tumor size. Additionally, the authors compared differences of aesthetic satisfaction (out of 5 points) of patients in the local flap and skin graft by facial location after resection of facial skin cancer by dividing the face into eight areas. Results: A total of 153 cases were confirmed. The most common facial skin cancer was basal cell carcinoma (56.8%, 87 cases), followed by squamous cell carcinoma (37.2%, 57 cases) and bowen's disease (5.8%, 9 cases). The most common reconstruction method was local flap 119 cases (77.7%), followed by skin graft 34 cases (22.3%). 86 patients answered the questionnaire and mean satisfaction of the local flap and skin graft were 4.3 and 3.5 (p=0.04), respectively, indicating that satisfaction of local flap was significantly high. Conclusion: When comparing satisfaction of patients according to results, local flap shows excellent effects in functional and cosmetic aspects would be able to provide excellent results rather than using a skin graft with poor touch and tone compared to the surrounding normal skin.
Purpose: The mass of facial muscles can be increased through exercise, as is also the case for muscles in the extremities. This systematic review was conducted to investigate the effect of facial exercises on facial muscle strengthening and facial rejuvenation, focusing on recent studies. Methods: A literature search was performed using the PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Web of Science databases. The quality of the trials was evaluated according to the PEDro scale. In total, 11 studies were included in this review: four studies on facial exercise for facial rejuvenation and seven studies on strengthening the muscles of the face. Results: Facial exercises for facial rejuvenation increased the mechanical properties and elasticity of the skin of the face and neck, the thickness and cross-sectional area of the facial muscles, and the fullness of the upper and lower cheeks. Conclusion: A study aimed at strengthening facial muscles showed improvements in labial closure strength and tongue elevation strength. Despite the positive results for facial rejuvenation and muscle strengthening, the level of evidence was low. Therefore, in future research, it will be necessary to investigate the effects of facial exercise in a thoroughly controlled experiment with a sufficient sample size to increase the level of evidence.

Background: When a skin defect occurs, clinicians must work to restore the original skin quality as soon as possible. Accordingly, an artificial dermis can be used to supplement the wound and prevent severe scar contracture formation. The Terudermis is an artificial dermis that is simple and easy to use. We investigated the effectiveness of the Terudermis in the treatment of facial skin defects by analyzing previous relevant cases treated in our institution. Methods: We retrospectively examined 143 patients who were treated with the Terudermis graft in facial skin defect at Dong Kang General Hospital in 2015 and 2016. The patients' age, sex and location, wound size, complications were analyzed. In addition, the patients were asked to complete a self-satisfaction questionnaire after 18 months from the completion of treatment. The results were compared with that of autologous full-thickness skin graft (FTSG) and split-thickness skin graft (STSG) patients in same period. Results: The mean self-satisfaction scores evaluated by patients were $4.1{\pm}1.0$, $4.0{\pm}1.3$ and $3.5{\pm}1.8$ for the Terudermis graft, FTSG and STSG patients, respectively. With respect to complications, there were fewer incidences of hematoma, partial skin loss and complete skin loss in the Terudermis graft patients. Conclusion: In the present study, the Terudermis, when used to treat post-traumatic facial skin defects, is a good alternative option to obtain satisfactory aesthetic outcomes. Also, the Terudermis grafting is a simple and easy treatment method to perform.
Understanding of human emotion has a high importance in interaction between human and machine communications systems. The most expressive and valuable way to extract and recognize the human's emotion is by facial expression analysis. This paper presents and implements an automatic extraction and recognition scheme of facial expression and emotion through still image. This method has three main steps to recognize the facial emotion: (1) Detection of facial areas with skin-color method and feature maps, (2) Creation of the Bezier curve on eyemap and mouthmap, and (3) Classification and distinguish the emotion of characteristic with Hausdorff distance. To estimate the performance of the implemented system, we evaluate a success-ratio with emotional face image database, which is commonly used in the field of facial analysis. The experimental result shows average 76.1% of success to classify and distinguish the facial expression and emotion.
Objectives Benign essential blepharospasm is a progressive neurological disorder characterized by involuntary muscle contractions and spasms of the eyelid muscles. The aim of this study is to provide evidence of differences between facial skin temperaure of the paralyzed side and normal side in Essential Blepharospasm patients. Methods The author studied 13 patients with Essential Blepharospasm. We measured skin temperature of the forehead, zygoma area of the paralyzed side and those of the normal side with The Digital Infrared thermal image. Results There were no significant facial skin temperature differences between the paralyzed side and normal side. Conclusions Thermography is a useful diagnostic tool. But we expect that it is essential to diagnose a disease correctly at an early stage and to find a prompt treatment by introducing and utilizing a simple nonivading diagnofic method other than Thermography.

The incidence of the tuberculosis infection has decreased worldwide, but it is still easy to find the patients in some areas or some races. And it is very difficult to diagnose and treat the patients who are infected by the atypical tuberculosis. Facial skin infection by atypical tuberculosis has not been reported. We report the case of a 62-year-old woman who developed facial skin and soft tissue necrosis caused by Mycobacterium abscessus after receiving liquid silicone injections and face lift operation. We cultured the pathogenic organism and treated the wound with radical curettage, debridement, skin graft and tuberculosis medication.
