Detection of flexural damage stages for RC beams using Piezoelectric sensors (PZT)

  • Structural health monitoring along with damage detection and assessment of its severity level in non-accessible reinforced concrete members using piezoelectric materials becomes essential since engineers often face the problem of detecting hidden damage. In this study, the potential of the detection of flexural damage state in the lower part of the mid-span area of a simply supported reinforced concrete beam using piezoelectric sensors is analytically investigated. Two common severity levels of flexural damage are examined: (i) cracking of concrete that extends from the external lower fiber of concrete up to the steel reinforcement and (ii) yielding of reinforcing bars that occurs for higher levels of bending moment and after the flexural cracking. The purpose of this investigation is to apply finite element modeling using admittance based signature data to analyze its accuracy and to check the potential use of this technique to monitor structural damage in real-time. It has been indicated that damage detection capability greatly depends on the frequency selection rather than on the level of the harmonic excitation loading. This way, the excitation loading sequence can have a level low enough that the technique may be considered as applicable and effective for real structures. Further, it is concluded that the closest applied piezoelectric sensor to the flexural damage demonstrates higher overall sensitivity to structural damage in the entire frequency band for both damage states with respect to the other used sensors. However, the observed sensitivity of the other sensors becomes comparatively high in the peak values of the root mean square deviation index.

Advanced discretization of rock slope using block theory within the framework of discontinuous deformation analysis

  • Rock is a heterogeneous material, which introduces complexity in the analysis of rock slopes, since both the existing discontinuities within the rock mass and the intact rock contribute to the degradation of strength. Rock failure is often catastrophic due to the brittle nature of the material, involving the sliding along structural planes and the fracturing of rock bridge. This paper proposes an advanced discretization method of rock mass based on block theory. An in-house software, GeoSMA-3D, has been developed to generate the discrete fracture network (DFN) model, considering both measured and artificial joints. Measured joints are obtained from the photogrammetry analysis on the excavation face. Statistical tools then facilitate to derive artificial joints within the rock mass. Key blocks are searched to provide guidance on potential reinforcement measures. The discretized blocky system is subsequently implemented into a discontinuous deformation analysis (DDA) code. Strength reduction technique is employed to analyze the stability of the slope, where the factor of safety can be obtained once excessive deformation of slope profile is observed. The combined analysis approach also provides the failure mode, which can be used to guide the choice of strengthening strategy if needed. Finally, an illustrated example is presented for the analysis of a rock slope of 20 m height inclined at $60^{\circ}$ using combined GeoSMA-3D and DDA calculation.

음성통신을 위한 잡음처리 기술

  • 음성 통신을 할 때 배경 잡음이 존재하게 되면 일반적으로 음질이 저하된다. 이것은 잡음 자체가 듣기 싫다거나 음성을 더 작게 들리게 만들기 때문이기도 하고 음성 코덱이 잡음이 섞이지 않은 깨끗한 음성에 최적화되어 있어서 잡음이 섞인 음성에 대한 코딩 효율이 떨어지기 때문이기도 하다. 이 논문에서는 잡음에 의한 음성 통신의 품질 저하를 막기 위한 방법으로서 음성 향상(speech enhancement) 기술과 음성 강화(speech reinforcement) 기술에 대해 소개한다. 음성 향상 기술이란 전송부의 마이크에서 녹음된 잡음과 음성이 섞인 입력 음성으로부터 깨끗한 음성을 추정하는 기술을 말한다. 음성 향상 기술은 상당히 오랜 기간 동안 연구되어 온 기술이며, 최근에는 각 파라미터의 분포에 의존하는 방법보다 확률 모델에 기반한 방법이 각광을 받고 있으며 인간의 청각 특성을 고려한 음성 향상 방법도 제안되고 있다. 음성 강화 기술이란 수신단에서 주변 잡음에 따라 전송되어 온 음성을 주파수별로 증폭하여 더 잘 들리도록 만드는 기술이다. 음성 향상이 내 주위의 잡음이 상대방에게 들리는 음성에 미치는 영향 혹은 상대방 주변의 잡음이 나에게 들리는 소리에 미치는 영향을 줄여주는 기술이라면 음성 강화는 내 주위의 잡음이 나에게 들리는 음성에 미치는 영향을 상쇄해 주는 기술이다. 이 경우 주변 잡음은 어떤 전자 시스템도 거치지 않고 귀로 직접 들어오기 때문에 잡음 자체를 줄여 주는 것은 힘들고 전송되어 온 음성을 적절히 증폭 혹은 변형함으로써 귀에 들리는 음질 또는 명료성을 개선하게 된다. 이 논문에서는 통계 모델을 기반으로 한 음성 향상 기법과 인간의 청각 특성을 고려한 음성 향상 기법, 그리고 음성 강화 기법에 대해 설명한다.을 시도한 결과 안정적이고 반복 가능한 급성 심부전 모델을 얻을 수 있었다. bench scale실험결과와 같이 AOC는 배수관망에서의 박테리아 증식과 크게 상관관계를 갖고 있는 것으로 밝혀졌다.)', 'have a headache (2.10±0.79)', 'poor memory (2.09±0.83)', 'no appetite (1.99±0.85)', As for the correlation between iron parameter and clinical symptoms related to anemia, the hematocrit rate was negatively correlated with 'get a cold easily', 'pale face', 'feeling blue', 'difficult digestion' (p<0.05). Experimental evaluation of external beam-column joints reinforced by deformed and plain bar

  • In this study, the behavior of external beam-column joints reinforced by plain and deformed bars with non-seismic reinforcement details is investigated and compared. The beam-column joints represented in this study include a benchmark specimen by seismic details in accordance with ACI 318M-11 requirements and four other deficient specimens. The main defects of the non-seismic beam-column joints included use of plain bar, absence of transverse steel hoops, and the anchorage condition of longitudinal reinforcements. The experimental results indicate that using of plain bars in non-seismic beam-column joints has significantly affected the failure modes. The main failure mode of the non-seismic beam-column joints reinforced by deformed bars was the accumulation of shear cracks in the joint region, while the failure mode of the non-seismic beam-column joints reinforced by plain bars was deep cracks at the joint face and intersection of beam and column and there was only miner diagonal shear cracking at the joint region. In the other way, use of plain bars for reinforcing concrete can cause the behavior of the substructure to be controlled by slip of the beam longitudinal bars. The experimental results show that the ductility of non-seismic beam-column joints reinforced by plain bars has not decreased compared to the beam-column joints reinforced by deformed bars due to lack of mechanical interlock between plain bars and concrete. Also it can be seen a little increase in ductility of substructure due to existence of hooks at the end of the development length of the bars.

기혼 중년여성의 갱년기 증상에 영향을 미치는 변인에 관한 연구 - 폐경에 대한 태도와 가족관련 변인을 중심으로 - (The Factors Related to the Menopausal Symptoms of Married Middle-Aged Women: Focus on the Effects of Attitudes toward Menopause and Family Related Variables)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify how attitudes toward menopause and family-related variables (living with a first child, satisfaction with children, and marital satisfaction) were associated with the perceived menopausal symptoms of middle-aged Korean females. Data for the study were based on a community sample of 628 women whose ages ranged from 45 to 60, who were currently married and had at least one child. The respondents reported lower levels of menopausal symptoms, medium levels of marital satisfaction and slightly higher levels of satisfaction with children. Feelings of tiredness, irritability, and nervousness without apparent reason, and aches in the lumbago and joints were common menopausal symptoms reported in this study. Regression analysis was conducted to investigate the effects of monthly income, educational level, employment status, attitudes toward menopause, living with a first child, satisfaction with children, and marital satisfaction on perceived menopausal symptoms. Attitudes toward menopause, living with a first child, satisfaction with children and marital satisfaction were significantly associated with perceived menopausal symptoms. In particular, marital satisfaction had the strongest effect on perceived menopausal symptoms. The results showed that in the face of the developmental challenges experienced during the menopausal transition, family-related variables served as positive reinforcement for married middle-aged women. This finding suggests that in order to improve the menopausal transition, family education programs need to be developed and offered to middle aged females who suffer from severe menopausal symptoms.

  • If slope height was more than 20 meters, we conducted an analysis of stereographic projection and limit equilibrium at this slope. We proposed reduction of slope face angle and reinforcement of rock bolt depending on analysis. Blasting design : Standard pattern based on result of local test blasting was made for blasting design. Vibration criterion was set for less than 3.0mm/s because of outworn buildings and inhabitants opinions. Production blasting and Controlled blasting has been done as Construction standard pattern. After Vibration Monitoring has been done, so that we can control of complement. "Bidding Document" and AASHTO 2001 "A Policy on Geometric Design of Highways and Streets" were so for design criteria of earthwork but they were different actual design criteria and left something to be desired in Afghanistan. Therefore, although "Bidding Document" and "AASHTO 2001" were basic design criteria, domestic design criteria was reflected in this design criteria for complement by discussion with supervisor. Drainage design : For stability ratio, ditch of arch block and stonework was designed by rainfall data for the 13 years and discussion with supervisor. Pavement was designed as flexible pavement. Because these days in Afghanistan postwar repair works, especially urgent repairing of roads and newly making of roads, are very highly in progress, I think that Afghanistan is the region about which our construction technical experts should have great concerns.

터널 시공 중 지반 관련 사고 사례의 원인 분석과 지반 조사 결과의 활용에 관한 검토 (Case Study on the Tunnel Collapses during the Construction and Application of Geotechnical Investigation)

  • 본 고에서는 지반 조건의 불균질성 및 이방성에 기인하는 사전 지반 조사의 한계성, 혹은 충분치 못한 사전 지반 조사에 의해 터널 시공 중 발생되었던 터널 사고 사례들을 검토, 분석하고 지반 조사의 터럴 설계 및 시공에서의 활용에 대하여 고찰하였다. 본문에서는 암석(intact rock) 자체는 양호할지라도 암반 내에 존재하는 불연속 면들의 발달 상태 등 지질공학적 요인에 의하여 암반이 취약해지는 경우, 지반 내에 발달하는 불연속면의 사전 인지와 이에 대한 대책 공법 수립의 필요성, 충분하지 못한 사전 지반 조사에 의해 터널 상부에 존재하는 충적층을 사전에 예측하지 못하여 발생된 사고 사례들과 시공 중 지반 조사(막장 관찰, 갱내 선진시추 조사 등) 결과가 터널의 시공에 적용된 예와 특수한 지반조건에서의 터널 변형 사례등을 검토하였다. 결론적으로 터널 시공에 있어서 대상 지반의 지질공학적 특성을 충분히 파악할 수 있는 적절한 지반 조사를 충실히 이행하면 지반 관련 사고를 미연에 방지할 수 있고 경제적인 시공이 될 수 있을 것으로 판단하였다.

고성토 보강토옹벽의 거동에 관한 사례연구 (A Case Study on Behavior of High-Raised Reinforced Soil Wall)

  • 최대 높이가 29.5m인 고성토 보강토옹벽에 대한 시공 및 계측이 수행되었다. 이와 같이 높은 보강토옹벽에 대한 설계 및 시공 경험이 그다지 많지 않기 때문에, 본 현장에서는 철저한 설계 및 시공관리가 이루어졌다. FHWA 설계기준에 근거하여 본 현장 보강토옹벽의 내적 및 외적안정을 검토하였고, Bishop의 간편법을 이용하여 전반활동에 대한 안정성 해석을 수행하였다. 또한 시공관리 및 안정성 검토를 위한 일련의 현장계측을 수행하였다. 본 논문에서는 높이가 20m 이상이고, 2단으로 시공된 대표단면 2개소에 대한 계측결과를 분석하였다. 계측결과, 벽체 및 보강재의 변형이 매우 작게 측정되었으며, 벽체작용 수평토압 또한 미소한 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 높이가 20m이상으로 매우 높은 옹벽구조물에 있어서, 보강토옹벽공법이 성공적으로 적용될 수 있음을 확인하였고, 또한 시공관리가 잘 이루어질 경우 이같이 높은 보강토옹벽에 대하여 FHWA 설계기준이 매우 보수적인 안전측 결과를 보임을 알 수 있었다.

Effect of rebar spacing on the behavior of concrete slabs under projectile impact

  • In this paper, the effect of different steel bar configurations on the quasi-static punching and impact response of concrete slabs was studied. A total of forty RC square slab specimens were cast in two groups of concrete strengths of 40 and 63 MPa. In each group of twenty specimens, ten specimens were reinforced at the back face (singly reinforced), and the remaining specimens were reinforced on both faces of the slab (doubly reinforced). Two rebar spacing of 25 and 100 mm, with constant reinforcement ratio and effective depth, were used in both singly and doubly reinforced slab specimens. The specimens were tested against the normal impact of cylindrical projectiles of hemispherical nose shape. Slabs were also quasi-statically tested in punching using the same projectile, which was employed for the impact testing. The experimental response illustrates that 25 mm spaced rebars are effective in (i) decreasing the local damage and overall penetration depth, (ii) increasing the absorption of impact energy, and (iii) enhancing the ballistic limit of RC slabs. The ballistic limit was predicted using the quasi-static punching test results of slab specimens showing a strong correlation between the dynamic perforation energy and the energy required for quasi-static perforation of slabs.

  • 매년마다 힘들어지는 취업 관문으로 인해 여러 취업 정보들을 담은 웹 사이트들이 꾸준히 인기를 얻고 있다. 그러나 면접장들과 얼굴을 대면하는 면접에 대해서는 큰 도움을 얻기가 어렵다. 또한 취업 준비를 하면서, 혹은 직장을 다니면서 얻는 스트레스로 우울증을 겪는 사람이 많이 발생하고 있는데 현존하는 취업 사이트들은 이에 대해 전문가를 구성하여 운영하고 있지는 않다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 본 논문에서는 구글 앱 엔진(Google App Engine) 및 구글 웹 툴킷(Google Web Toolkit) 기반으로 하여 방대한 취업 정보를 담을 수 있도록 하고 면접 동영상을 업로드 할 수 있도록 하였다. 그리고 취업 준비생, 직장인들의 스트레스를 덜고자 문의 게시판을 구성하여 상담 전문가들이 도움을 줄 수 있도록 하였다.
