One of the major fashion trends is the naturalism and ecology-conscious trend. The natural looks required in the trend require somewhat random distribution of yarn linear density, which results in irregular appearance along the yarn. This is a technically challenging work of producing yarns that look natural far from being artificial yet maintaining the intricately aesthetic randomness without causing process disturbances. This study focused on the characteristics of fabrics made of natural cellulosic fibers including hemp, ramie, flax, and polyester fabrics. Image analysis of the fabric samples included area measurement of yarn specimen, FFT and inverse FFT. Measurements of bending resistance, thickness, air permeability, and weight were also implemented to interpret the structural differences.
The purpose of this study was first, to examine the causes for the recent acceleration in the increase of textile/apparel waste and the current practices for reducing waste in the global textile and apparel industry; and second, to explore the influence of sustainability and social responsibility on fashion trends. Extensive literature on sustainable apparel and sustainable and socially responsible practices by global textile and apparel firms was reviewed in conducting this research. First, an accelerated fashion diffosion speed due to fast fashion was focused on as a cause for the increase in textile/apparel waste whereas mass customization was focused on as a potential solution for reducing waste. Then, the influence of the social trend toward sustainability and social responsibility on fashion trends was discussed, particularly the trends toward green products and recycled fashion, the trend against using real for or leather, and minimum-fabric-waste fashion in design and product development. This study furthers consumers' understanding of sustainability and social responsibility related to fashion trends and hopefully increases their consciousness in becoming socially responsible consumers. This study will also contribute to better decision-making in apparel and textile firms to produce sustainable fashion products.
The purpose of this study is to provide basic data to assist students and industrial designers in fashion by examining the trend of designing women's wear with the SCAMPER method. In the research, the seven types of SCAMPER methods for fashion design were classified based on the previous studies. From 2010 S/S to 2020 S/S, data from 5,149 photographs were collected through overlapping checks and classified by SCAMPER method type. Data analysis was performed using SPSS 25.0 for frequency analysis. As a result, in the SCAMPER "combine" method, more than two items were combined, or structural details were combined with items. In the most applied "adapt" method was involved imitating similar images, or natural forms, or other objects. The "modify" method was applied by changing the shape of some details in basic fashion items. The "magnify" method was applied by enlarging, elongating, or elevating some details of fashion items. The "minify" method was applied by minimizing, shortening, or lowering some details of basic fashion. The method of "put to other use" was expressed throughout the clothing by using non-fabric or trimmings such as metal, beads, and strings. The "rearrange" method was applied by repositioning the top and bottom, front and back, or outside and inside in fashion items and in details. The "reverse" method was applied by reversing the style of fashion, mix-and-match fabric, or switching the gender of the fashion items.
This study deals with formlessness designs that indicate a variety of related shapes between the human body and clothes depending on the 2D shape of fabric rather than a cubic and clear shape of fabric proportional to the human body. There have been formlessness fashion designs since the 1980s; however, there has been no attempts to define the concept of formlessness fashion designs. This study focuses on how formlessness clothing was named for clothes with no specific shape due to recognizing the body as a flat surface as referred in various prior studies and how a formlessness design is expressed. This study reviews formlessness designs from the viewpoint of eastern concepts as well as from the viewpoint of ancient Greek clothes to understand how eastern and western designers approached formlessness designs. We also simultaneously utilize a literature research and a case study of actual work. The scope of the research focuses on the case of female clothing starting from the 1980s when the formlessness trend first appeared.
The purpose of this study was to suggest effective teaching method of fashion illustration based on the results of examing the use of fashion illustration required by fashion designers and the ways of teaching used by professors teaching fashion illustration. The methods of this research were based on questionnaires. Questionnaire I was responded by 73 fashion designers working for fashion industry. Questionnaire II was answered by 52 professors teaching fashion illustration in colleges and universities. The results were as follows 1. In the examination of fashion illustration used by fashion designers in fashion industry, the flat was found to be most frequently used for market research, design sketch, presentation and specification. The illustration of wearers' form for making trend maps. So the flat was found to be the method that is most used by fashion designers. As for the coloring materials, markers were most frequently used that are of easy use, and the texture was mostly expressed by attaching fabric swatches. Two or three body poses are used for each style of clothing. 2. The effective teaching methods of fashion illustration that fashion designers and professors teaching fashion illustration consider are first, to teach the flat more precisely, second, to increase use of markers as coloring material, third, to teach various types of model poses. And fourth, the texture needs to be a little bit less expressed by focusing only on the effects because fabric swatch is used.
This study was carried out to examine the actual using condition of Yogawear and consumer's preference of Yogawear with traditional pattern. Yogawear can be developed as a cultural fashion item, because Yoga is getting universal interest with "Wellbeing Trend". A survey with 34 questionnaires was made by 305 consumers who had ever experienced Yoga from July to August, 2006. The results are as follows: 1. Most of objects were female(94%). Those who are in their twenties accounted for 50%, and those who take Yoga practice time less than 1 year accounted 63%, and those who take Yoga practice time less than 1 hour in a week accounted 46%. 2. Respondents who have Yogawear accounted 32% and they bought it in a online-shopping mall(48%), department store(16%) and discount store(11%). 3. Only 31% of respondents were satisfied of their Yogawear but they weren't satisfied about Yogawear Design, fabric and color. 4. Most preferred Yogawear style was pastel colored 'shirt & Pants' style with long sleeve using cotton fabric. 5. They liked much more modern Yogawear having korean image than completely korean style Yogawear or modern style Yogawear. 6.The benefits of Yogawear were 3 dimension: appearance, easy management, physical properties.
The purpose of this study, which is related with local women's jacket Manufacturing companies in Seoul and Kyeong-Ki areas, is for the research of general problems, badness in those companies, noticing products' quality level, and full solutions of luxurious sewing technology and high quality products. The results of this study are as follows. 1. Most women's jacket manufacturing companies are poor and producing system is on a changing trend to the pair system. 2. A wage level of inspectors are low compared with working experiences and working period is short compared with working experiences. So, the separation rate was high. 3. The inspection form is full style, but some companies are just inspecting samples or frequent check. 4. Insperation method is highly at the rate of self-inspection and head office inspection. There are inspects in their factories and companies, but some companies don't. 5. There are lots of badness styles such as shrinking of fabric, contaminating of product, dying of fabric, pressing. 6. A work standard, workers' technical education, and giving purposes to workers are demanded for avoiding of products badness.
The recent trend of Sports Wear is seeking functionality and fashion at the same time, where the spread of sportism becomes caual style leading street fashion. Sports Wear is classified into active Sports Wear and Sports casual Wear, in which active Sports Wear is expanded to a mixture with Sports casual wear. The purpose of this study is to research the trend of materials used in active Sports Wear and Sports casual wear. Materials used for jacket/jumper, pants and t-shirts of active Sports Wear and Sports casual wear, and high-tech functional materials used for active Sports Wear have been analyzed. The results of the study are the following: a) Most of the materials used for Sports Wear are polyester, nylon, cotton, and a mixture of cotton and polyester. Active Sports Wear uses functional materials and texture such as Dri-Fit, which absorbs and dries fast, whereas Sports casual wear satin, cire and denim has been used to keep up with the trend rather than focusing in functionality: b) companies such as Nike and Adidas have used many high-tech materials to emphasize the functionality of Sports Wear, while Puma stresses on fashion rather than function, however uses spandex in order for the consumer to feel comfortable during physical activities; c) active Sports Wear in jacket/jumper, pants and t-shirts uses functional material and texture, however Sports casual wear uses satin and cire to keep up with the fashion trend rather than functionality; d) and Nike uses high-tech funtional materials for its Sports Wear in therma-fit, Clima-fit, Dri-fit and storm-fit, whereas Adidas uses Clirna-lite, Clirna-proof, Clima-warm, and Clirna-cool in their active Sports Wear.
The purpose of the study is to get some pieces of prior information to eventually develop competitive swimming suit designs with Korean traditional images. The study has been accomplished in following steps. First, as theoretical research, the history of swimming suit design and the requirements in designing competitive swimming suits were studied. Second, as practical research, at first, the trend of the competitive swimming suit designs in the national swimming suit market was examined. And then. the questionnaire surveys of both professional and amateur swimmers about their design preferences with purchasing and fabric-related tendencies were conducted for understanding professionals' characters more exactly. This data were analyzed through cross-analysis and multi-response analysis and x 2 was used. The results of this study can be summarized as follows : First, athletes' preferential design tendency for the swimming suit designs were examined in the aspects of style, color, pattern, logo, and accessary. In style, female athletes preferred an athletic one-piece style and male ones preferred a brief style. In color. neutral, mostly black was preferred most and cold color group like dark blue and navy blue next, regardless of sex. In addition, they preferred similar color coordination. In pattern, though solid fabrics were mostly preferred in both sexes, especially Taeguk motive were considered the most appropriate pattern to show Korean image. Besides, logo was considered importantly, and swimming caps and goggles of accessaries were generally used. Second, athletes' swimming suit purchasing tendency was as a following. the number of swimming suits possessed was more than 4 pieces. the durable period was less than 3 months. and the most important point considered in purchasing was an easy fitting for men and a design with an easy fitting for women. And most of swimming athletes preferred foreign products than domestic ones, which was attributed to excellent quality, easy fitting, and good design. and so on. Third, in fabric-related tendency, food touch, easy fitting. and opaqueness were considered importantly. and durability to chlorine, elasticity, color fastness, easy draining, lightness, and so on were demanded forward.

So this study compares and analyzes the merchandising process of textile clothing also it of fur clothing by merchandising steps. Fur clothing has so many change factors at time of purchase by scarcity of raw material, price fluctuation, exchange rate and others. Therefore it is primarily about securing of raw material. As soon as plan of product is finished, the purchase of fur raw material has to be started while progress of design products for commercializing the fur clothing. The design of fur clothing is consist of material design, color design and shape design. And It makes a new trend & market as we are developing new & various treatments. The some of imported materials are transferred to the factory for being treated first dressing, fabric treatments and dyeing processing according to the design. The first treated materials are transferred to the sewing factory again for secondary treatments and finally inspected and shipped. During secondary treatments the fur has gone through various manufacturing process for using like fabric materials and it takes long time because almost work is running manually.
