A Study on Application Strategies of Korea-ASEAN FTA for Export Companies in Korea -Taking successful cases involve companies of different sizes of application of FTA as Example- (수출기업의 대아세안 FTA 활용 전략에 관한 연구 -기업 규모별 FTA 활용 성공전략 사례분석을 통해서-)

  • The performance of FTA has a close relationship with the application of FTA by exporting companies. However, most existing literatures focus on the study of policies and economic results of FTA. Moreover, these researches based on a presupposition that exporting companies could make good use of FTA. Actually, these assumptions are clearly contrary to the reality of FTA application of exporting companies in Korea and the results are significantly differ from the performance of FTA. Based on the investigation of utilization of FTA, applied by export companies in Korea, this study tries to find out the most efficient strategies of the application of FTA. And the objective of this study is to propose some practical suggestions for export companies based on the case an alysis which will help them to improve performances of Korea-ASEAN FTA application. As the prior investigation of CEO's characters, application of FTA, and the implement of FTA, we got the fact that among lots of marketing strategies, Korea-ASEAN FTA is used extensively by large export companies. However, most of small and medium-sized export enterprises would like to choose conventional tariff, such as Lower tariffs and zero tariff as the main marketing strategies. In other words, because of lacking of human resources and infrastructure, the application of Korea-ASEAN FTA strategy is hard to achieve.

  • This study wished to construct and propose correct Korea-USA FTA business model in Food Industry for FTA practical use maximization. First, the application item of Wholly Obtained Criterion may have to construct Wholly Obtained Criterion FTA practical use strategy. This strategy is to export to FTA country concerned after process domestically made main material. Second, the application item of Change in Tariff Heading may have to construct Change in Tariff Heading FTA practical use strategy. This strategy exports to FTA country concerned after that process that receives tariff cut(Cost reduction) benefit, and satisfies Change in Tariff Heading importing main material from third country (The FTA conclusion country).

  • The study analyzes the optimum Korea-China FTA negotiations by utilizing the Putnam's two- level game theoretic approach. According to the Putnam's theory, the size of the win-set depends on the strategies of the Level 1 negotiators. The size of the win-set depends also on the level 2 political institutions and the distribution of power, preferences, and possible conditions among Level 2 constituents. The basic principles for the successful future Korea-China FTA negotiations should be based on comprehensiveness, substantial liberalization and gradual liberalization with consideration of sensitive sectors. This study concludes that mid-level FTA strategy with comprehensive but low tariff reduction would be of best strategy for Korea. This study also suggests the utilization of the EHP(Early Harvest Program) for the successful Korea-China FTA negotiations.

  • This paper aims at examining the Korean export competitiveness of clean robot industry and presenting the strategy to improve capability of clean robot industry under Korea-US FTA. For this purpose, the current status and environment of Korea-US clean robot industry and the core points of Korea-US FTA are analyzed. In addition, using SWOT analysis of Korean clean robot field, we analyzed the characteristics of Korean cleaning robot industry and proposed the strategy for export expansion and strength of export competitiveness. Through above analyzation and strategies, we found out that Korean clean robot industry have some advantage to go into the US market and get the opportunity to improve the export capability though Korea-US FTA. In conclusion, to improve current status and to get the competitiveness, government and companies should recognize and utilize Korea-US FTA effect significantly.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the status of FTA origin verification for exported goods in Korea and analyze the cases of major origin verification to seek origin management strategies that enables exporters to actively satisfy origin verification requirements. The case analysis demonstrates that it is important to meet not only the substantive, but also formal and procedural requirements of origin verification. We identified origin management strategies including: develop internal origin management experts and origin management system, utilize external expertise and related support institutions, strengthen networking with supplier companies, consider origin management at the contract stage and continue origin management after export.

  • FTA 시대를 살고 있는 대한민국의 농업인은 무한경쟁시대를 살고 있다. 본 논문에서는 농촌에 살고 있는 농업인은 부유하게 살수 없는 것인가? 라는 주제로 정보활용능력이 탁월한 전문가들이 운영하는 기존의 쇼핑몰 위주의 전자상거래 방법론과는 다르게 농촌에 살고 있는 농업인들이 활용하여 성공한 전자상거래 사례 형태를 분석한 논문이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 전자상거래를 활용하고 있는 농업인의 사례연구를 통하여 전자상거래의 현황과 문제점을 파악하고 농업인 전자상거래의 활성화 방안과 전략적 운영방안을 제시하고자 한다.

Legal Issues and Policy Implications of Electronic Commerce Chapters of the Korea·China FTA (한·중 FTA 전자상거래 협정의 주요쟁점과 활용과제)

  • China is the largest e-commerce market in the world. The Chinese online retail market is almost 40% larger than the US, and together these markets account for more than 55% of worldwide e-commerce. The Korea China FTA is likely to facilitate e-commerce activity between the two countries, as well as trade in the goods and services that enable e-commerce. Korean consumer goods can enjoy the benefits of the FTA because it has a competitive advantage in the Chinese market in terms of technology and quality. The purpose of this study is to examine legal issues of e-commerce chapters of the Korea China FTA and policy implications. Results of the study show that several implications based on the export vitalization of cross-border e-commerce of Korean products are offered. The Korean government needs to do the following: prepare for the subsequent negotiation of the e-commerce agreement, prepare for the classification issue of electronic transmissions, require mutual recognition of electronic authentication and electronic signatures, prepare for e-commerce dispute settlement mechanism and establish of strategies for the export vitalization of e-commerce.

  • 의약품 산업은 소득 수준의 향상에 따라 건강에 대한 관심이 고조되고, 과학 기술의 발달에 따라 난치병 치료제가 개발되면서 세계 의약품 시장이 지속적으로 성장하고 있어, 21세기의 가장 주목 받는 차세대 성장 동력 산업 중 하나로 분류 된다. 이러한 의약품 산업은 정밀 화학이나 생명 공학 기술의 첨단 산업 분야로서 고도의 두뇌 인력을 필요로 하는 고부가가치 산업이기 때문에, 부존자원이 빈약하고 인적자원이 풍부한 우리나라의 경우 차세대 성장 동력 산업으로 육성하여야 하는 산업이다. 본 논문은 2007년 4월 2일 한${\bullet}$미 FTA 의약품 분야 체결이 한국 의약품 유통에 미치는 영향올 분석 및 검토한 후, 국내 제약사의 위기 상황을 극복하기 위한 대응 방안으로서 새로운 사업 모델인 셀프 메디케이션의 활용 방안에 대해 연구하였으며, 전략적 관점에서 선택과 집중의 이슈를 유형별로 나눈 후 국내 제약사의 강점인 일반 의약품, 대체 의약품 시장의 효율성과 기능을 강화할 수 있는 방안에 대해 연구하였다. 이를 위해 의약품의 특정과 경로 별 유통구조의 특정 그리고 우리나라와 선진국의 사례를 비교 분석한 결과 유럽 제약회사의 경우처럼 R&D 등 기술 혁신에 필요한 투자가 부족하면 세계의약품 시장의 경쟁에서 뒤떨어지고, 반대로 쥴릭 파마 코리아의 경우처럼 선진 다국적 물류회사의 국내 의약품 도매시장 석권이라는 현상도 알 수 있었다. 또한 미국과 FTA를 체결한 국가들의 많은 부작용 사례와 한${\bullet}$미 FTA 의약품 분야의 이슈를 비교 검토한 결과 많은 부정적 영향이 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 따라서 국내 제약사의 위기 상황을 극복하기 위해 셀프 메디케이션을 전략적 관점에서 선택과 집중의 이슈에 대해 국내 제약사의 유형별로 대웅 방안을 제시하였다.

  • This paper examines the extent of China's market liberalization in the construction market seen through the point of view of WTO agreements and Korea-China FTA. Since the environment set by these agreements form the institutional background that Korean firms must work with to successfully access the market, the Korean government must work to reduce Chinese barriers as much as possible through international negotiations on these agreements. The paper sets out three goals for negotiations and the appropriate agreements and fora the government can use to advance these goals.
