  • There is no doubt that adaptive optics (AO) is the most promising method to compensate wavefront disturbance in free space optics communication (FSO). In order to improve the performance of the AO system described by discrete-time linear system model with time-delay and implicit phase turbulent model, new controllers based on a Kalman filter and its extensions are proposed. Based on the standard Kalman filter, we propose a fading memory filter to deal with the ruleless strong interference; sequential and U-D filters are applied to reduce implementation complexity for the embedded controllers. Theoretical analysis and the numerical simulations show that the proposed fading memory filter can upgrade the performance for AO systems in consideration of the unforeseen strong pulse interference, and the sequential and U-D filters perform well compared with a Kalman filter.

  • This paper proposes single logarithmic amplification (single-LA) and deep learning (DL)-based fixed-threshold on-off keying (OOK) detection for free-space optical (FSO) communication. Multilevel LAs (MLAs) can be used to mitigate intensity fluctuations in the received OOK signal by their nonlinear gain characteristics; however, it is ineffective in the case of high scintillation, owing to degradation of the OOK signal's extinction ratio. Therefore, a DL technique is applied to realize effective scintillation compensation in single-LA applications. Fully connected (FC) networks and fully connected neural networks (FCNN), which have nonlinear modeling characteristics, are deployed in this work. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated through simulations under various scintillation effects. Simulation results show that the proposed method outperforms the conventional adaptive-threshold-decision, single-LA-based, MLA-based, FC-based, and FCNN-based OOK detection techniques.

  • In this paper, a x/y-axis accelerometer is fabricated, using the SBM process on a <111> SOI wafer. This fabrication method solves the problem of the footing phenomenon in the conventional SOI process for improved manufacturability and performance. The roughened lower parts as well as the loose silicon fragments due to the footing phenomenon are removed by the alkaline lateral etching step of the SBM process. The fabricated accelerometer has a demodulated signal-to-noise ratio of 92 dB, when 40Hz, 5 g input acceleration is applied. The noise equivalent input acceleration resolution and bandwidth are $125.59\;{\mu}g$ and over 100 Hz, respectively. The acceleration random walk is $12.5\;{\mu}g/\sqrt{Hz}$. The output linearity is measured to be 1.2 % FSO(Full Scale Output) at 40 Hz, and the input range is over ${\pm}\;10g$.

  • This paper describes the low noise and low power IC using the opamp sharing technique for the capacitive micro-sensor sensing platform. The proposed IC reduces noise using correlated double sampling (CDS) and reduces power consumption using the opamp sharing technique. The IC is designed to be fully programmable, and can be digitally controlled by serial peripheral interface (SPI). The power consumption and the integrated input referred noise are 1.02 mW from a 3.3 V supply voltage and $0.164aF_{RMS}$ with a bandwidth of 400 Hz. The capacitive sensitivity, the input-output linearity and the figure of merits (FoM) are 2.5 mV/fF, 2.46 %FSO, and 8.4, respectively.

  • In this paper, the gain of the observer is properly set up using the fuzzy control and Fuzzy-Sliding observer(FSQ) that have a superior transient characteristic and is easy to implement compared to the existing method is designed. It estimate the differentiation of the armature current directly using the armature current measured in the AC motor. It estimate the speed of the rotor using the differentiation. It is proposed speed sensorless control method using the estimated speed. Optimal gain of speed observer(Luenberger observer) was set up using the fuzzy control and adapted speed control of AC servo motor. To verify the performance of designed Fuzzy-Sliding observer, simulation compared with fixed speed observer gain of G.B Wang and S.S Peng's sliding observer is performed. Also, it was proved the excellence and feasibility of the proposed observer from the comparison test with a speed sensor and without a speed sensor which used a highly efficient drive and 400W AC servo motor starting system.

  • The deployment of mobile femtocellular networks can enhance the service quality for the users inside the vehicles. The deployment of mobile femtocells generates a lot of handover calls. Also, numbers of group handover scenarios are found in mobile femtocellular network deployment. The ability to seamlessly switch between the femtocells and the macrocell networks is a key concern for femtocell network deployment. However, until now there is no effective and complete handover scheme for the mobile femtocell network deployment. Also handover between the backhaul networks is a major concern for the mobile femtocellular network deployment. In this paper, we propose handover control between the access networks for the individual handover cases. Call flows for the handover between the backhaul networks of the macrocell-to-macrocell case are proposed in this paper. We also propose the link switching for the FSO based backhaul networks. The proposed resource allocation scheme ensures the negligible handover call dropping probability as well as higher bandwidth utilization.

  • Strain gauge type load cell is used widely as weight sensor. However, it has problems such as noise, power consumption, high cost and big size. Semiconductor type piezoresistive pressure sensor is practically used in recent for low hysteresis, good linearity, small size, light weight and strong on vibration. In this paper, we have fabricated the piezoresistive pressure sensor and packaged the miniature weight sensor. We packaged the miniature weight sensor by flip-chip bonding between die and PCB for durability, because the weight sensor is directly contacted on a physical solid distinct from air and oil pressure. We measured the characteristics of the weight sensor, which had the output of $10{\sim}80$ mV on the weight range of $0{\sim}2$ kg. In the result, we could fabricate the weight sensor with an accuracy of 3 %FSO linearity.

  • The$^{13}C$ NMR shifts of a series of para-substituted 9-aryl-tricyclo$[3.3.1.0^{2,8}]$non-9-yl and 8-aryl-tetracyclo$[3.2.1.0^{2,7}.0^{4,6}]$-oct-8-yl cations were measured in $FSO_3H/SO_2ClF \;at\; -90^{\circ}C\; or\; -70^{\circ}C$ in order to examine whether the ${\rho}^{c+}$ values can be used to explain the mechanism for the stabilization of the geometrically rigid cyclopropylcarbinyl cations. Plots of the ${\Delta}{\delta}^{c+}$ shifts against ${\sigma}^{c+}$ reveal excellent linear correlation. The tricyclononyl systems yield a ${\rho}^{c+}$ value of -4.95 with a correlation coefficient r = 0.9948. The tetracyclo-octanyl systems give a ${\rho}^{c+}$ value of -6.39 with r = 0.9943. A fair parallelism exists between the results of $^{19}F$ nmr studies and the change of ${\rho}^{c+}$ values in these cations. Accordingly, the present study established that the ${\rho}^{c+}$ value can be used as a mearsure of the geometric influence for the charge delocalization in cyclopropylcarbinyl cations.
