Bond stress between cast-in-place ductile fiber reinforced cementitious composites and CFRP plank were experimentally analyzed. As failure shape, the mixture of failure between CFRP plank and epoxy, and failure between concrete and epoxy was shown. In case of RFCON from the suggested simple bond slip relationship, the maximum average bond stress was 5.39MPa, the initial slope was 104.09MPa/mm, and the total slip length was 0.19mm. PPCON showed the maximum average bond stress of 4.31MPa, the initial slope of 126.67MPa/mm, and the total slip length of 0.26mm, while RFCON+ appeared to have 8.71MPa, 137.69MPa/mm, 0.16mm. PPCON+ had 6.19MPa maximum average bond stress, 121.56MPa/mm initial slope, and 0.34mm total slip length. To comprehend the behavior of composite structure of FRP and concrete, local bond slip relation is necessary, and thus a simple relation is suggested to be easily applied on hybrid composite system.

Purpose of this research is a development for the curve fitted equations that can improve practical calculation and work application when seismic performance has been evaluated and this work has been made a study of the dynamic response under various boundary conditions of buried pipelines to compare the dynamic behavior of concrete pipe and steel pipe, FRP pipe. This research have been developed curve fitted equations that can be improving efficiency and practicality. Using a nonlinear least square method, and after testing several different exponential equations, Proposed the curve fitted equations to give the best result and constant value by the propagation velocities. With these results, dynamic response analysis and seismic performance evaluation have been achieved on concrete pipe, steel pipe and FRP pipe that have a various boundary conditions. Degree of a polynomial expression and coefficient value by propagation velocity have been calculated when using the curve fitting equations.
Seismic upgrading of existing structures is a technical and social issue aimed at risk reduction. Sustainable design is one of the most important challenges in any structural project. Nowadays, many retrofit strategies are feasible and several traditional and innovative options are available to engineers. Basically, the design strategy can lead to increase structural ductility, strength, or both of them, but also stiffness regulation and supplemental damping are possible strategies to reduce seismic vulnerability. Each design solution has different technical and economical performances. In this paper, four different design solutions are presented for the retrofit of an existing RC frame with poor concrete quality and inadequate reinforcement detailing. The considered solutions are based on FRP wrapping of the existing structural elements or alternatively on new RC shear walls introduction. This paper shows the comparison among the considered design strategies in order to select the suitable solution, which reaches the compromise between the obtained safety level and costs during the life-cycle of the building. Each solution is worked out by considering three different levels of seismic demand. The structural capacity of the considered retrofit solutions is assessed with nonlinear static analysis and the seismic performance is evaluated with the capacity spectrum method.

In the framework of the SPEAR (Seismic PErformance Assessment and Rehabilitation) research Project, an under-designed three storey RC frame structure, designed to sustain only gravity loads, was subjected, in three different configurations 'as-built', Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) retrofitted and rehabilitated by reinforced concrete (RC) jacketing, to a series of bi-directional pseudodynamic (PsD) tests under different values of peak ground acceleration (PGA) (from a minimum of 0.20g to a maximum of 0.30g). The seismic deficiencies exhibited by the 'as-built' structure after the test at PGA level of 0.20g were confirmed by a post - test assessment of the structural seismic capacity performed by a nonlinear static pushover analysis implemented on the structure lumped plasticity model. To improve the seismic performance of the 'as-built' structure', two rehabilitation interventions by using either FRP laminates or RC jacketing were designed. Assumptions for the analytical modeling, design criteria and calculation procedures along with local and global intervention measures and their installation details are herein presented and discussed. Nonlinear static pushover analyses for the assessment of the theoretical seismic capacity of the structure in each retrofitted configuration were performed and compared with the experimental outcomes.

This study is to examine the feasibility of carbon fiber sheet(CFS), a kind of fiber reinforced plastic(FRP), for a repair and reinforcement of R/C beams. The flexural strength of R/C beams, that were preloaded and then the cracks were repaired, maintains that of the uncracked R/C beams. The flexural strength of R/C beams increases with the reinforcement of CFS. In order to practically apply the repair and reinforcement method, further research is needed for the distribution, amount, and bond of CFS. In this study, an experiment was conducted for R/C beams reinforced with CFS, for various wrapping method and amounts of CFS. Experimental results showed the wrapping method increasing the bond area and amount of CFS layer caused the increase in the strength of the beams. It is found that the strength of CFS should be used as 70% of the maximum strength in retrofitting reinforced concrete beams in evaluating flexural capacity on the basis of ultimate strength design method.

The surge in FRP(Fiber Reinforced Plastic) research signifies the industry's pursuit to counteract the longstanding issue of rebar corrosion. Notably, Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic(CFRP) emerges as a commendable alternative, given its superior resistance to both corrosion and chemical interactions, thus positing itself as a potential replacement for traditional steel rebars. However, the layered composition of fibers and resin in CFRP flags a notable susceptibility to elevated temperatures. Despite its promise, comprehensive studies elucidating the full spectrum of CFRP properties remain ongoing. In this investigative study, we meticulously assessed the bond strength of CFRP post-exposure to high thermal conditions. Our findings underscored a parity in bond strength amongst silica sand-coated CFRP, rib-type CFRP, and Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastic(GFRP).
Long-gauge carbon fiber line (CFL) sensors have received considerable attention in the past decade. However, there is still a need for an in-depth investigation of their measuring accuracy. This study investigates the accuracy of carbon fiber line sensors to monitor and differentiate the flexural behavior of two beams, one reinforced with steel bars alone and the other reinforced with steel and basalt fiber-reinforced polymer bars. A distributed set of long-gauge carbon fiber line, Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG), and traditional strain gauge sensors was mounted on the tensile concrete surface of the studied beams to compare the results and assess the accuracies of the proposed sensors. The test beams were loaded monotonically under four-point bending loading until failure. Results indicated the importance of using long-gauge sensors in providing useful, accurate, and reliable information regarding global structural behavior, while point sensors are affected by local damage and strain concentrations. Furthermore, long-gauge carbon fiber line sensors demonstrated good agreement with the corresponding Fiber Bragg Grating sensors with acceptable accuracy, thereby exhibiting potential for application in monitoring the health of large-scale structures.
This paper presents a discussion of the Finite Element Analysis (FEA) when applied for the analysis of concrete elements reinforced with glass fibre reinforced polymer (GFRP) bars. The purpose of such nonlinear FEA model development is to create a tool that can be used for numerical parametric studies which can be used to extend the existing (and limited) experiment database. The presented research focuses on the numerical analyses of concrete beams reinforced with GFRP longitudinal and shear reinforcements. FEA of concrete members reinforced with linear elastic brittle reinforcements (like GFRP) presents unique challenges when compared to the analysis of members reinforced with plastic (steel) reinforcements, which are discussed in the paper. Specifically, the behaviour and failure of GFRP reinforced members are strongly influenced by the compressive response of concrete and thus modelling of concrete behaviour is essential for proper analysis. FEA was performed using the commercial software ABAQUS. A damaged-plasticity model was utilized to simulate the concrete behaviour. The influence of tension, compression, dilatancy, mesh, and reinforcement modelling was studied to replicate experimental test data of beams previously tested at the University of Waterloo, Canada. Recommendations for the finite element modelling of beams reinforced with GFRP longitudinal and shear reinforcements are offered. The knowledge gained from this research allows for the development of a rational methodology for modelling GFRP reinforced concrete beams, which subsequently can be used for extensive parametric studies and the formation of informed recommendations to design standards.

This study is to examine bond strength of beam reinforced with GFRP rebar under 4-point fatigue bending test by adopting BRITISH STANDARD. The variables were made to have bonding length of 5times(5db), and 15times(15db) of the nominal diameter of GFRP rebar and were done to analyze the relationship between the bonding strength and the slip. In the result of the test, pull-out failure was dominant in the 5db specimen, patterns of the pull-out failure and concrete shear failure appeared in the 15db specimen showed only concrete shear failure at the end of bonding length. Therefore, The strain development consist of three different stage : A rapid increases form 0 to about 10% of total fatigue life. A uniform increases form 10% to about 70%~90%. Then a rapid increases until failure, if failure takes place. It seems that stress level has not influence on the secant modules of elasticity. And also according to the outcome the existing strengthening method came out to be the most superiority in S-N graphs.

This paper discusses the failure mode of reinforced concrete beams strengthened with composite materials based on six experimental set-ups to determine the FRP-to-concrete bond strength. Interfacial bond behavior between concrete and CFRP plates was discussed. Shear test were performed with different concrete compressive strengths (21 MPa and 28 MPa) and different bonding length (100 mm, 150 mm, 200 mm, and 250 mm). Shear test results indicate that the effective bond length (the bond length beyond which the ultimate load does not increase) was estimated as $196{\sim}204\;mm$ through linear regression analysis. Failure mode of specimens occurred due to debonding between concrete and CFRP plates. Maximum bond stress is calculated as about $3.0{\sim}3.3\;MPa$ from the relationships between bond stress and slip. Finally, the interfacial bond-slip model between CFRP plates and concrete, which is governed debonding failure, has been estimated from shear tests. Average bond stress was about $1.86{\sim}2.04\;MPa$, the volume of slip between CFRP plate and concrete was about $1.45{\sim}1.72\;mm$, and the fracture energy was found to be about $1.35{\sim}1.71\;N/mm$.
