Monitoring mean change via penalized estimation (벌점화 추정기법을 이용한 평균에 대한 모니터링)

  • We suggest a monitoring procedure to detect changes in the mean of the stochastic process. The monitoring procedure is based on penalized least squares estimates. Unlike the fluctuation (FL) monitoring, we use the numbers of nonzero estimates not the fluctuations of sequential parameter estimates. We investigate the behavior of the proposed monitoring procedure by means of a simulation study and compare its performance with CUSUM monitoring.

  • Flow-injection analysis (FIA) for on-line monitoring of glucose and acetate are described and employed in E.coli fermentation process. Glucose oxidase (GOD) for the detection of glucose is immobilized on epoxy polymer support, which is packed in a small cartirdge, and applied to a GOD-FIA system. The detection of acetate is based on the inhibition of acetate to the oxidation of sarcosine by sarcosine oxidase (SOD). SOD is also immobilized on epoxy polymer support and used for a SOD-FIA system. GOD-FIA system is characterized as well as SOD-FIA system by the investigation of the effects of pH, temperature and metabolites in samples on the peak height. GOD-FIA and SOD-FIA systems were also applied for on-line On-line measurements buy FIA measurements by FIA were in god agreement with off-line measurements.

  • This paper describes the improvement of power control characteristics of ship's emergency lighting power supply(SELPS), by which electric power is controlled extensively, and power ON-OFF is controlled and system parameter monitored in remote distance by PC serial communication. Proposed system is composed of step-down converter(SDC), emergency power supply circuit(EPSC), half bridge(HB) inverter, fluorescent lamp(FL) starting circuit, microprocessor control and multi communication circuit. Experimental works confirm that relative system stops when over current is detected and speedy and stable emergency power is supplied when main power source cut-off, and controls input power up to 35[$\%$] by adjusting pulse frequency of the HB inverter, and ON-OFF control of multiple SELS, real time transmission and monitor of parameters as to voltage, current, and power values are performed appropriately by PC communication.

  • Identification of species within the toxin-producing genus Alexandrium is vital for biotoxin monitoring and mitigation decisions regarding shellfish industry. In particular, the discrimination of resting cysts of only A. tamarense from that of Alexandrium spp. is considerable important to fundamentally monitor and predict this species before vegetative cells occur in the nature. Fluorescent cTAM-F1 DNA probe was responsible to not only binding the activity of the vegetative cells in A. tamarense, but also to the resting cysts, which was treated with methanol after fixation and stained by primuline on the surface The location of fluorescence in cultured vegetative cells and resting cysts was almost at tile bottom of the nucleus. The optimal incubation temperature and time using in situ hybridization were 50-$54^{\circ}C$ and 40-60 min, respectively, to penetrate the DNA probe into cell.

  • This paper describes a design of several ship's emergency lighting system(SELS) that power factor is improved and power is controlled extensively, and techniques to control and monitor this system in remote distance by PC serial communication. The remote monitoring control system is composed of emergency power supply system (EPSS), half bridge(HB)inverter, fluorescent lamp(FL), microprocessor, multi communication interface. EPSS checks the voltage of the emergency backup battery in real time. In case that the voltage of 13[V] or less has been detected for 5[msec] or longer for 3 times in a row, charger circuit is connected for battery charging. Experimental works using proposed system confirm that speedy and stable power to be supplied when main power source cut-off, compared with conventional analog type, and input power up to 35.0[%] by adjusting of pulse frequency of the HB inverter.

Dietary Risk Assessment for Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Foods (식품중 Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons의 위해성평가)

  • This study was executed to determine the cumulative dietary risk of PAHs exposed by food ingestion. Food samples including barbecued beef, barbecued pork, grilled chicken, ham, bacon and vegetable oil which were collected from food markets. These samples were saponified, extracted and cleaned up to purify PAHs, and then the purified sample solutions were analyzed by HPLC-FL. Generally, the levels of total PAHs in barbecued beef (0.2 ppb), bacon (0.3 ppb), barbecued pork (0.7 ppb), ham (0.8 ppb), and vegetable oil (1.2 ppb) were low, whereas the level of total PAHs in grilled chicken (9.3 ppb) was significantly high. For the exposure assessment of PAHs due to food ingestion, PAHs levels converted into TEQ$_{BaP}$, the average body weight for 20-73 age group and consumed levels of food proposed from report on the National Health and Nutrition Survey were used. The estimated lifetime average daily intake of dietary PAHs was 4.32${\times}$10$^{-4}$ $\mu\textrm{g}$-TEQ$_{BaP}$kg/day as the mean value. The dietary risk adjusted to cancer potency of benzo(a)pyrene as 7.3 (mg/kg/day)$^{-1}$ was 3.44${\times}$10$^{-6}$ based on current data.ata.
