Analysis for cancer-related studies using Puffer fish poison (복어독의 종양 관련 기존연구 논문에 대한 분석)

  • Objective: The aim of this study is to analyze the previously published research articles related to puffer fish toxin focusing on tumor. Method: Literatures were searched in PubMed database, published since 2000, using the keyword; Puffer fish, Fugu and tetrodotoxin (TTX) with cancer or tumor. Research papers were classified by year, country, study model, used material, kind of tumor and study subject. Finally, a total of 41 studies were analyzed in this study. Results: From 2000 to 2018, the most abundant papers were published in 2009 (6 studies) and almost half of the papers were studied in United Kingdom (20 studies). The 39 studies used TTX purified from puffer fish while 2 studies used crude extract of skin and gonad of puffer fish. The most used target cell line was prostate cancer (15 studies), and the next was breast cancer (14 studies). The study methods were classified into 4 clinical studies, 2 animal studies and 35 cell-based studies. Conclusions: Our results show that the overview of cancer-related studies using puffer fish poison. This information would be helpful for the puffer fish-derived drug researches in the future.

A Study of Detecting The Fish Robot Position Using The Object Boundary Algorithm (물체 형상인식 알고리즘을 이용한 물고기 로봇 위치 검출에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we have researched about how to detect the fish robot objects in aquarium. We had used designed fish robots DOMI ver1.0, which had researched and developed for aquarium underwater robot. The model of the robot fish is analysis to maximize the momentum of the robot fish and the body of the robot is designed through the analysis of the biological fish swimming. We are planned to non-external equipment to find the position and manipulated the position using creating boundary to fish robot to detect the fish robot objects. Also, we focused the detecting fish robot in aquarium by using boundary algorithm. In order to the find the object boundary, it is filtering the video frame to picture frames and changing the RGB to gray. Then, applied the boundary algorithm stand of equations which operates the boundary for objects. We called these procedures is kind of image processing that can distinguish the objects and background in the captured video frames. It was confirmed that excellent performance in the field test such as filtering image, object detecting and boundary algorithm.

  • In this paper, the designed fish robot is researched and developed for aquarium underwater robot. This paper is a study on how the outside technology merely to find the location of fish robots without specific sensor or internal devices for these fish robot. The model of the fish is designed to detect the position of the optical flow of the Robotic Fish in the Simulink through Matlab. This paper intends to recognize the shape of the tank via a video device such as a camera or camcorder using an image processing technique to identify the location of the robotic fish. Here, we are applied to the image comparing algorithm by using the average color weight algorithm method. In this, position coordinate system is used to find the position coordinates of the fish to identify the position of the Robotic fish. It was verified by the performance test of design robot.

  • In nutrition studies of fish, determining the optimum dietary protein level for growth of fish is generally a primary consideration because protein is not only the major constituent of fish body, but also it has critical functions as enzymes and hormones.   • Single cell of an indigenous phototrophic bacterium, Rhodovulum sulfidophilum, was incorporated in commercial fish feed for Oreochromis niloticus. The bacterial cell was analyzed for nutritional value and tested for toxicity and acceptability as an aquaculture feed supplement. The results showed higher survival rate and significantly higher growth rate (p<0.001) in O. niloticus fed with the bacteria incorporated fish feed. It is suggested that R sulfidophilum can be utilized as an aquaculture feed supplement.

  • Detecting of the object in image processing is substantial but it depends on the object itself and the environment. An object can be detected either by its shape or color. Color is an essential for pattern recognition and computer vision. It is an attractive feature because of its simplicity and its robustness to scale changes and to detect the positions of the object. Generally, color of an object depends on its characteristics of the perceiving eye and brain. Physically, objects can be said to have color because of the light leaving their surfaces. Here, we conducted experiment in the aquarium fish tank. Different color of fish robots are mimic the natural swim of fish. Unfortunately, in the underwater medium, the colors are modified by attenuation and difficult to identify the color for moving objects. We consider the fish motion as a moving object and coordinates are found at every instinct of the aquarium to detect the position of the fish robot using OpenCV color detection. In this paper, we proposed to identify the position of the fish robot by their color and use the position data to control the fish robot gathering in one point in the fish tank through serial communication using RF module. It was verified by the performance test of detecting the position of the fish robot.

  • Polymeric immunoglobulin receptor (pIgR) mediates the transfer of polymeric immunoglobulin to protect organisms and is one of the most important mucosal effectors. In this study, the developmental stage- and tissue-specific expression of pIgR were observed before virus inoculation in olive flounder. pIgR was gradually expressed until the formation of immune tissue, exhibiting high expression in the late juvenile period; thereafter, pIgR expression gradually decreased and exhibited high expression in the spleen and skin. Moreover, pIgR expression after viral hemorrhagic septicemia virus infection was high in the kidney and spleen tissues at high density and low at low density. The results of this study can provide a basis for future studies on breeding density, virus expression, and immune system studies in fish.

  • Because of their unique properties, nano-sized metallic nanomaterials (NMs) have been used in extensive applications of biomedicine, electronics, optics, engineering, and personal care products. Accordingly, with the increasing release of NMs into the environment, numerous studies of nanoecotoxicity have been conducted. Fish embryo toxicity test (FET) has many benefits in evaluating toxicity of NMs as an alternative to a whole-body test in fish. In this study, we collected and analyzed the toxicity studies of metallic NMs on freshwater fish embryos. Most studies have demonstrated that metallic NMs are highly toxic during the early development of fish embryos. However, it should be noted that the results for the same NMs on the same test species show variation due to differences in the size or surface properties of the test NMs and exposure conditions. For the safe use of metallic NMs, we need to analyze their effects based on their properties, test species, environmental media, and diverse conditions.

  • This paper researches a way of detecting fish robots moving in an aquarium. The fish robot was designed and developed for interactions with humans in aquariums. It was studied merely to detect a moving object in an aquarium because we need to find the positions of moving fish robots. The intention is to recognize the location of robotic fish using an image processing technique and a video camera. This method is used to obtain the velocity for each pixel in an image, and assumes a constant velocity in each video frame to obtain positions of fish robots by comparing sequential video frames. By using this positional data, we compute the distance between fish robots using a mathematical expression, and determine which fish robot is leading and which one is lagging. Then, the lead robot will wait for the lagging robot until it reaches the lead robot. The process runs continuously. This system is exhibited in the Busan Science Museum, satisfying a performance test of this algorithm.

Microbiological studies on the preservation of fish-paste products (생선묵의 보장성에 관한 세균학적 연구)

  • This study is concerned to the microbial population and its effects in the fish paste products. Experimental results were summarized as following orders ; 1) The number of bacteria in accordance with raw materials and coocking site waas known to as ; Wheat flor - $7.0{\times}10^8$/gram , Brayed fish meat - $2.0{\times}10^7$/gram, Cooking table - $6.1{\times}10^6$/$1.54cm^2$Chopped fish meat -$4.1{\times}10^6$/gram, Wooden plate - $5.5{\times}10^5$/218.32cm, Sodium chloride - $8.8{\times}10^4$/gram, Wheat starch - $4.5{\times}10^4$/gram, Fish meat - $2.3{\times}10^4$/gram. However, there were a few bacterial numbers less than 300 per gram of raw materials, such as monosodium glutamate, tap water, sugar, saccharine and eggs. 2) Bacterial population in the raw materials might be changed according to the conditions of preservation. 3) When the heat tratment is used for the preservation, the thermal effects were rarely found at the interior part of fish paste products. Conduction of heat into the interior part dose not rise about $84^{\circ}C$ and the survival of bacteria could be possible under the condition. Therefore, cooking being used requires further studies. 4) Number of bacteria in the fish paste products sold in the market was higher on April and May than those on June. Especially on June, the number of bacteriz in the interior part were found higher than those in the exterior part of the products.
