  • This paper describes a spread-spectrum clock generation method by utilizing a ${\Delta}{\Sigma}$ digital PLL (DPLL) which is solely based on binary phase detection and does not require a linear time-to-digital converter (TDC) or other linear digital-to-time converter (DTC) circuitry. A 1-bit high-order ${\Delta}{\Sigma}$ modulator and a hybrid finite-impulse response (FIR) filter are employed to mitigate the phase-folding problem caused by the nonlinearity of the bang-bang phase detector (BBPD). The ${\Delta}{\Sigma}$ DPLL employs a two-point modulation technique to further enhance linearity at the turning point of a triangular modulation profile. We also show that the two-point modulation is useful for the BBPLL to improve the spread-spectrum performance by suppressing the frequency deviation at the input of the BBPD, thus reducing the peak phase deviation. Based on the proposed architecture, a 3.2 GHz spread-spectrum clock generator (SSCG) is implemented in 65 nm CMOS. Experimental results show that the proposed SSCG achieves peak power reductions of 18.5 dB and 11 dB with 10 kHz and 100 kHz resolution bandwidths respectively, consuming 6.34 mW from a 1 V supply.

  • The Radon transform has been widely used in various techniques of digital image processing such as the computerized topography, lineament analysis in a remotely sensed image, slant-stack processing of seismic data, and so on. Compared to the Fourier transform, the utility of two-dimensional convolutional or correlational properties of the Radon transform, however, has been underestimated. We show that the two-dimensional convolution and correlation is respectively reduced to be one-dimensional convolution and correlation with respect to ρ in the Radon space. Therefore, one can achieve a two dimensional filtering by applying a simple one-dimensional convolution in the Radon space followed by an inverse Radon transform. Tests of the approach using FIR filters are carried out specifically for enhancing the ship wake in a RADARSAT SAR image. The test results demonstrate that the two-dimensional filtering through the Radon transform effectively enhance the ship wake features as well as reducing sea speckle in the image. Although two-dimensional convolution and correlation through the Radon transform are not so much useful as those through the courier transform in views of efficiency and effectiveness, it can be utilized to improve the quality of a digitally processed output when the process should be accompanied by the Radon transform such as topography and lineament analysis of SAR image.

  • Digital fetal monitoring system based on the personal computer combined with the digital signal processing board was implemented. The DSP board acquires and digitally processes ultrasound fetal Doppler signal for digital rectification, FIR filtering, autocorrelation function calculation, its peak detection and MEDIAN filtering. The personal computer interfaced with the DSP board is in charge of graphic display, hardcopy, data transmission and on-line analysis of fetal heart rate change including and variability. I used a recursive technique for autocorrelation function computation method and MEDIAN filter which can greatly reduce the amount of calculation and accuracy. I also implemented analysis algorithm of fetal heart rate change based on normal fetal sample data in order to exact diagnosis.

  • The Resolver usually used in industry is the absolute angle analog sensor that must be in order to driving BLDC (brushless DC) motor, and it needs RDC(Resolver-to-Digital converter) for changing the output signal to digital to be applied to the SVPWM(Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation) algorithm. Commonly used S/W RDC needs trigonometric function. What it takes a lot of calculation time of processor is gotten at weak point. In this paper, S/W RDC is realized except trigonometric functions as a result of feedback resolver outputs after filtering using FIR filter. thus, processing time is reduced. So, One-chip DSP Controller operating the Vector Control, RDC, and SVPWM can be designed.

  • In this study, the novel digital filtering algorithms are implemented to suppress the noisy characteristics embedded in ambulatory electrocardiogram signals by an android smartphone platform. With this aim, Graphical User Interface (GUI) is designed and implemented by utilizing multithread-Java programming to realize Finite Impulse Response and Infinite Impulse Response filter. With simulating our implemented digital filters built in an android smartphone, we can find the fact that we can efficiently suppresses the noisy characteristics due to baseline wandering and 60 Hz powerline source fluctuations especially in electrocardiograms.

  • It is essential to know exactly what the response of the seismograph is inclusive of characteristic of the seismic sensors before using it for detailed seismic study. This is because the recorded earthquake data can be more or less affected by the overall system and need to be corrected properly to the analysis`s best to obtain the right results. In this respect, two basic earthquake data processing techniques are introduced and applied, for validation purpose, to real data from KEPRI seismic monitoring system which were established for determining the site-specific characteristics of the earthquakes around the Nuclear Power Plants. One is conventional instrumental correction technique for velocity data and the other is for removing acausal ringing originate from using linear phase FIR filter. These techniques are all implemented in the time domain using digital filtering process and shows the desired results when applied to real earthquake data.

  • This paper presents two algorithms based on the concept of the frequency domain adaptive filter(FDAF). First the frequency domain recursive least squares(FRLS) algorithm with the overlap-save filtering technique is introduced. This minimizes the sum of exponentially weighted square errors in the frequency domain. To eliminate discrepancies between the linear convolution and the circular convolution, the overlap-save method is utilized. Second, the sliding method of data blocks is studied Co overcome processing delays and complexity roads of the FRLS algorithm. The size of the extended data block is twice as long as the filter tap length. It is possible to slide the data block variously by the adjustable hopping index. By selecting the hopping index appropriately, we can take a trade-off between the convergence rate and the computational complexity. When the input signal is highly correlated and the length of the target FIR filter is huge, the FRLS algorithm based on the block processing technique has good performances in the convergence rate and the computational complexity.

  • In this paper, an efficient and fast algorithm to reduce calculation amount of FIR(Finite Impulse Responses) filtering is proposed. Proposed algorithm enables arbitrary size of parallel processing, and their structures are also easily derived. Furthermore, it is shown that the number of multiplication/sample is reduced, and number of instructions using MAC(Multiplication and Accumulation) processor are also reduced. For theoretical improvement, numbers of sub filters are compared with those of conventional algorithm. In addition to the theoretical improvement, it is shown that number of element for hardwired implementation are reduced comparison to those of the conventional algorithm.

  • A purpose of developing a sound source tracking system in this paper is to reduce the noise efficiently from the received signal by microphone array and measure the signal's time delay between the microphones. I have applied the wavelet analysis algorithm to the system and calculated the sound source's relative position For the performance evaluation, I have compared with the results of utilizing the digital filtering methods based on the FIR LPF using Kaiser window function and the inverse Chebyshev IIR LPF. As a result, I have confirmed the fact that 'time-scale' filter using inverse discrete wavelet transform was suitable for this system.

  • Accurate observation results of dynamic displacements are essential to the protection of civil structures. In this study, we evaluated the optimal methods of the RTK/GPS Accelerometer integration through comparison and analysis of several experiments results. Two methods will be used to calculate the dynamic displacements from the results of the acceleration data as well as two integration methods for measuring the dynamic, static, and quasi-static displacements by incorporating the displacement results from the RTK-GPS and Accelerometer. By using a Cantilever Beam and LVDT measurement, we were able to ensure that the different displacement comparisons would be reliable and accurate. As a results from experiments, the accelerometer processing method applied by use of accelerometers data was filtering with the double integral using FIR band-pass filter which is most optimal for assessing the dynamic displacements. Also, the integrated method using extracting substitution displacements is suitable for measuring synthetically the dynamic static and quasi-static displacements of civil structures with RTK-GPS and accelerometer.
