The feeding habits of Paralichthys olivaceus in the Uljin marine ranching area, located on the mid-eastern coast of Korea, were studied from January to November 2009. In total, 381 specimens were collected; fish ranged in size from 15.4 to 59.0 cm in total length. P. olivaceus is a carnivore, mainly consuming other fishes and crustaceans. The prey items of P. olivaceus changed ontogenetically. Small individuals fed on decapod crustaceans while large ones fed heavily on other fishes. The diet of P. olivaceus varied seasonally. Fish comprised the main prey items throughout the year. The stomach contents index (SCI) of each size class increased and the dietary breadth index (DBI) of each size class decreased as individuals grew.
Antioxidants are known to affect the feeding habits of termites and a good source is pine bark which contains high levels of antioxidants which can be extracted with neutral solvents. In this study procyanidins (PCs)-rich MeOH-extract and a hot-water extract (HWE) were prepared from Pinus radiata bark. HWE was further separated into crude PCs (CPCs), polymeric PCs (PPCs), and low-molecular-weight PCs (LMWPCs) fractions. The MeOH extract and these fractions were examined for termite (Reticulitermes flavipes Kollar) antifeedant activities using a no-choice test. Catechin was used as a positive control. The LMWPCs was found to be the most effective deterrent to termite feeding. The comparative efficiency of the compounds tested were LMWPCs > PPCs > CPCs > MeOH extract, with the latter being more dependent on molecular weight than on its antioxidant activity.
The larvae of the Korean bullhead, Pseudobagrus fulvidraco were satiated with the food uptake equivalent to 13% of its body weight and required 2.5, 11 and 15 hrs to digest 50, 90 and 100% of the consumed food. The juveniles were satiated with food equivalent to 0.65% of its body weight and required 9 and 19 hrs to digest 50 and 90% of the consumer. Apparently, daily food intake perceptibly decrease with the larvae grew to juvenile stage. Both larvae (8.3-14.0mm TL) and juvenile (41.1-65.7mm TL) tend to feed frequently than to get satiated once a day and appeared to be nocturnal feeders.
Feeding ecology was compared among the three tonguefishes Cynoglossus abbreviatus, C. joyneri and C. robustus, collected from Seto Inland Sea, Japan, from June 2000 to May 2001. They are benthivores, consuming mainly gammarid amphipods, shrimps, crabs, gastropods, bivalves and ophiuroids. C. abbreviatus consumed greater proportions of ophiuroids whereas C. joyneri and C. robustus ate more amphipods and shrimps. While C. abbreviatus consumed mostly ophiuroids in all size classes, the diets of C. joyneri and C. robustus showed ontogenetic changes in feeding habits; smaller individuals of C. joyneri and C. robustus consumed gammarid amphipods, whereas larger C. joyneri ate shrimps and gastropods, and larger C. robustus fed mainly on gastropods, crabs, bivalves and polychaetes. Cluster analysis based on diet similarities emphasized that the three Cynoglossus species could be categorized on a size-related basis into three feeding groups: smaller C. joyneri and C. rubustus (<25 cm TL) could be classified as group A, and the larger of them (>25 cm TL) as group B, whereas C. abbreviatus was categorized as group C. This means that some degree of resource partitioning can occur among the three Cynoglossus species. The seasonal changes in the diets were also significant for the three Cynoglossus species.
Stomach contents of hairtail, Trichiurus lepturus collected in the Nakdong River Estuary were examined quantitatively. T. lepturus was a carnivore which consumed mainly fishes, crustaceans (such as copepods, euphausiids and shrimps) and chaetognaths. Its diets included small quantities of small squids. T. lepturus showed ontogenetic progression of three feeding stages : an initial feeding stage was a planktivorous stage in which copepods were the major food item, followed by a mixed feeding stage in which euphausiids, mysids, shrimps, chaetognaths and fishes were the major food items, and finally a piscivorous stage in which fishes were the major food item. Especially anchovies were heavily selected by large T. lepturus.
Customer satisfaction concerning foodservice quality characteristics were evaluated by using importance performance analysis(IPA) techniques in employee feeding operations. The purpose of this study were to survey employees' health condition and their food habits, to examine employees' perception of the importance and performance concerning foodservice quality charactertics and to analyze attributes for quality improvement in employee feeding operations. A questionaire for survey was developed and mailed to 1,700 employees and the response rate was 60.8%. Statistical data analysis was done using the SAS programs for descriptive analysis, $x^2$-test, F-test and Fisher's LSD. The results of this study were as follows 1. Most of employees responded that their health condition were generally good. 2. 17.8% of surveyed employees responded that they usually skipped their breakfast. 3. Main reasons of using employee feeding facilities identified were convenience and cheap price of meals. 4. Dissatisfied quality attributes identified were taste of food, atmosphere and location d dinning room, and the quality of food served for breakfast and dinner, 5. Satisfied quality attributes identified were nutritionally balanced meal with variety, competitive managerial skills of dietetian, and quality of food served for lunch.
We examined the food habits of larval Acanthogobius flavimanus using 260 specimens collected from February to April 2011 in the Nakdong River estuary, Korea. We found that larval A. flavimanus are carnivorous, feeding mainly on copepods and tintinnids. Their diet also included small quantities of larval polychaetes, macrostomids, larval bivalves, rotifers, barnacles, diatoms and unidentified materials. To assess ontogenetic changes in diet composition, the larvae were separated into three developmental stages: preflexion (<7 mmNL), flexion (7~9 mmNL), and postflexion (>9 mmNL). The preflexion group frequently preyed on tintinnids. But as the larvae of A. flavimanus grew, the consumption of copepods for flexion group, and polychaetes for postflexion group, increased respectively. The larvae of A. flavimanus showed one peak for feeding incidence at dusk, but the mean number of preys per individual was high until midnight.

The feeding habits of the Fat Greenling Hexagrammos otakii were studied using 376 specimens (17.4~41.4 cm in total length) collected off the Incheon coast, Korea between March 2020 and February 2021. H. otakii ate mainly gastropoda and teleostei, incuding caridea, brachyura, polychaeta, cephalopoda and amphipoda. The diet composition of H. otakii showed changes in season. H. otakii ate mainly cephalopoda in spring and ate mainly polychaeta in summer. The teleostei feeding rate was highest in autumn, whereas the proportion of gastropoda was higher in winter than in other seasons. The mean number of preys per stomach (mN/ST, One-way ANOVA, F=2.026, P>0.05) and mean weight of preys per stomach (mW/ST, One-way ANOVA, F=1.075, P>0.05) didn't show a statistically significant difference among size classes.
Ontogenetic food habits of the four most abundant fish species in seagrass neadows of Redfish Bay, Texas, were examined quantitatively during 1982-1983. The darter goby (Gobionellus bolelsoma) and pinfish (Lagodon rhomboides) were trophic generalists, which used a wide range of food items. The darter goby had relatively diverse, omnivorous diet which included amphipods, copepods, polychaetes, filamentous algae, diatoms, and detritus. This species did not show distinct ontogenetic changes in foodpreferences. Unlike the darter goby, the pinfish showed ontogenetic progression of four feeding stages. An initial feeding stage was a planktivorous stage in which copepods were int major food items, followed by a carnivorous stage in which amphipods became the major food items, an omnivorous stage in which filamentous algae, diatoms, amphipods, and polychaetes were the major food items, and finally a herbivorous stage in which seagrass pieces with attached epiphytes and their debris were the major food items. The code goby (Gobiosoma robustrm) and Gulf pipefish (Syngathus scovelli) appeared to be relatively specialized in food havits as carnivorous. Similar ontogenetic changes in food habits were observed for these two species, i.e.initially, copepods were the major food items, followed by a gradual transition to amphipods with growth.
The breast feeding habits of 507 college students were evaluated between March 27 to April 26 (2006). Data were collected from self-administered questionnaires and analyzed using SPSS for Windows V.12.0. The study population consisted of 245 (48.3%) male and 262 (51.7%) female college students that answered ‘yes’ when asked whether they had been breast feed. A total of 52.7% of the study population were fed with breast milk (most frequent answer), as opposed to 11.0% that were fed with infant formula (least frequent answer) during their infancy. When asked whether they ever got educated on breast feeding, 78.1% of the college student subjects answered ‘no’. A total of 95.1% of the female college students replied ‘yes’ when asked if they intended to breast feed their child. Moreover, 62.2% of the college student subjects indicated that their parents had an influence on their decision to breast feed. A comparison between male and female college students indicated that female college students had a superior knowledge level of the general characteristics of breast feeding over the male subjects (p<0.05) . Moreover, a comparison of the different levels of college attained suggest that freshman college students had the highest knowledge level, followed by senior, sophomore and junior college students in terms of advantage, BF Tabu (p<0.05). Also, students provided with education on breast feeding had a higher knowledge level than college students with no formal education. In summary, the results suggest that the knowledge on breast feeding in college students were different by general characteristics such as gender, major and school year, and education on breast feeding in advance was appeared to be an important factor, therefore nutritional education course on breast feeding is recommended for the college students.
