냉간압연공정에서 공정변수에 따른 엣지 크랙 성장에 관한 연구 (Study of Edge Crack Growth According to Rolling Condition in Cold Rolling)

  • The shape of edge cracking in rolling process generally occurred "V" shape. This cracking is successively generated at width edge of strip. The edge cracking is developed to center of strip during rolling process. In the results, the strip is occurred fracture, and the productivity is gone down because of the extensive production time. Accordingly, we need to control crack propagation during rolling process. But, the control of cracking is very difficult in rolling process. Previously the studies of edge cracking were mainly performed on hot rolling process. In this paper, the shape of the edge cracking in rolling was estimated according to process conditions such as initial edge crack size, reduction ratio and tension using FE-simulation and the simplicity experiments on cold rolling process.

경도-유효변형률 관계에 관한 유한요소 해석 (Finite Element Analysis for the Relation between Hardness and Effective Strain)

  • It is already known that hardness value of cold-forged product is in close conjunction with its effective strain. This paper presents the method to predict the relation between effective strains and hardness values by using FE-simulation of hardness test from the conception that hardness indicates resistance to plastic deformation. The results of FE-simulation for the material with pre-strain arc compared with those of experiments of the references to show the feasibility of the proposed method.

온간 단조성형기술을 이용한 마그네슘합금의 임펠러 제조공정연구 (A Study on Warm Forging of Magnesium Alloy Impeller)

  • This study focuses on the warm forging of a magnesium alloy impeller used for the fuel cell. The impeller has the very complicated shape with sharply twisted blade and thus is generally produced by mechanical machining or casting process. However, since these technologies give the high manufacturing cost or poor mechanical properties, the forging technology is required to make the high-quality impeller with the lower manufacturing cost. In order for production of the impeller by warm forging technology, the parametric studies using finite element analyses were carried out to find the optimal perform shape of impeller. Based on the FE simulation results, dies for impeller forging were designed and the resultant forged impeller was shown.

  • This paper proposes a new method for detecting broken rotor bars in a squirrel-cage induction motor. The air-gap flux variation analysis was done using search coils inserted in stator slots when broken rotor bar occurs. An accurate modeling and analysis of air-gap flux variation in the induction motor are developed using finite-element(FE) software packages, and measurement of the flux are made using search coils. The simulation was done for the induction motor with 380 [V]. 7.5 [kW], 4 Poles, 1,760 [rpm] ratings using the commercial FE analysis tool. The simulation and experiment results can be useful for detecting the broken rotor bar of an induction motor.

  • The hot forming process of a CAM for vessel engine was designed by finite element (FE) simulation and experimental analysis. An aim of process design was to achieve the near-net shaped CAM forgings by hot forging process. Based on the compression test results of the low alloy steel, deformation processing map was generated using the superposition approach between the dynamic materials model (DMM) and flow stability and/or instability criteria. From the processing map, the initial heating temperature was determined as $1200^{\circ}C$. FE analysis was simulated to predict the formation of rolling defects and deformed shape with different forging designs. Optimum process design suggested in this work was made by comparing with the CAM for vessel engine manufactured by actual forging process.

압축성형공정에 대한 알루미나 성형체 밀도분포의 FE 분석 (FE Analysis of Alumina Green Body Density for Pressure Compaction Process)

  • For the pressure compaction process of the ceramic powder, the green density is very different with both the ceramic body shape and the processing conditions. The density difference cause non-uniform shrinkages and deformations, and make cracks in the sintered ceramics. In this paper, Material properties of the alumina powder mixed with binder and the friction coefficient between the powder and the tool set were determined through the simple compaction experiments: Also the powder flow characteristics were simulated and the green density was analyzed during the powder compaction process with Finite Element Method (FEM). The results show that the density distributions of the green body were improved at the optimized processing condition and both the possibility of the farming crack generation and rho deformation of the sintered Alumina body were reduced.

제일원리를 이용한 스트론튬 페라이트의 자기적 특성 연구 (Ab Initio Study for the Magnetic Properties of Strontium Ferrite SrFe12O19)

  • In this study, magnetic properties of the strontium ferrite were theoretically investigated by Ab initio (first principle) method. The influences of various additives on the magnetic properties of the strontium ferrite were analyzed to designed new composition of the strontium ferrite system with high magnetic characteristics. As shown in the results, the total magnetization of the strontium ferrite was $42.55M_B$. Based on the DOS results, the magnetic characteristics of the strontium ferrite were mainly influenced by Fe atoms at 6 positions in the unit cell. Also the La-Mn strontium ferrite has the superior magnetic property than the Mn strontium ferrite.

Waspaloy 터빈디스크의 열간 단조시 결정립분포 해석에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Prediction of Grain Size Distribution in Hot Forging of Waspaloy Turbine Disc)

  • The microstructure evolution during a hot forging of Waspaloy was investigated using the recrystallization model and FEM simulation. In order to obtain an uniform microstructure, hot forging was carried out by two step. The change of grain size during hot forging has a deep connection with dynamic recrystallization behavior. Avrami-type constitutive equation for the dynamic recrystallization was implemented into an user subroutine of 2D FE simulator. The evolution of grain structure in the two-step forging of Waspaloy was simulated using the 2D FEM user-subroutine. The detailed variation of microstructures due to dynamic recrystallization could effectively be predicted at various locations in a forged pancake.
