Ultra-lightweight cement composite (ULCC) with a compressive strength of 60 MPa and density of $1,450kg/m^3$ has been developed and used in the steel-concrete-steel (SCS) sandwich structures. This paper investigates the structural performances of SCS sandwich composite beams with ULCC as filled material. Overlapped headed shear studs were used to provide shear and tensile bond between the face plate and the lightweight core. Three-dimensional nonlinear finite element (FE) model was developed for the ultimate strength analysis of such SCS sandwich composite beams. The accuracy of the FE analysis was established by comparing the predicted results with the quasi-static tests on the SCS sandwich beams. The FE model was also applied to the nonlinear analysis on curved SCS sandwich beam and shells and the SCS sandwich beams with J-hook connectors and different concrete core including ULCC, lightweight concrete (LWC) and normal weight concrete (NWC). Validations were also carried out to check the accuracy of the FE analysis on the SCS sandwich beams with J-hook connectors and curved SCS sandwich structure. Finally, recommended FE analysis procedures were given.
This paper describes a new automated simulation system for micromachines whose size range $10^{-6}$ to $10^{-3}$ m. An automic finite element (FE) mesh generation technique, which is bases on the fuzzy knowledge processing and computation al geometry technique, is incorporated into the system, together with one of commerical FE analysis codes, MARC, and one of commerical solid modelers, Designbase. The system allows a geometry model of concern to be automatically converted to different FE models, depending on physical phenomena of micromachines to be analyzed, i,e. electrostatic analysis, stress analysis, modal analysis and so on. The FE models are then automatically analyzed using the FE analysis code. Among a whole process of analysis, the definition of a geometry model, the designation of local node patterns and the assignment of material properties and boundary conditions onto the geometry model are only the interactive process to be done by a user. The interactive operations can be processed in a few minutes. The other processes which are time consuming and labour-intensive in conventional CAE systems are fully automatically performed in a popular engineering workstation environment. This automated simulation system is successfully applied to evaluate an electrostatic micro wobble actuator.
Five different calibrations of metal abundances of globular clusters are examined and these are compared with metallicity ranking parameters such as $(Sp)_c$, . Q39 and IR-indices. Except for the calibration $[Fe/H]_H$ by the high dispersion echelle analysis. the other calibration scales are correlated with the morphological parameters of red giant branch. In the $[Fe/H]_H$-scale. the clusters later than ${\sim}F8$ have nearly a constant metal abundance. $[Fe/H]_H{\simeq}-1.05$, regradless of morphological characteristics of horizontal branch and red giant branch. By the two fundamental calibration scales of $[Fe/H]_L$ (derived by the low dispersion analysis) and $[Fe/H]_{{\Delta}s}$ (derived by the spectral analysis of RR Lyrae stars). the globular clusters are divided into the halo clusters with [Fe/H]<-1.0 and the disk clusters confined within the galactocentric distance ${\tau}_G=10\;kpc$ and galactic plane distance |z|=3 kpc. In this case the abundance gradient is given by d[Fe/H]/$dr_G{\approx}-0.05\;kpc^{-1}$ and d[Fe/H]/$d|z|{\simeq}-0.08\;kpc^{-1}$ within ${\tau}_G=20\;kpc$ and |z|=10 kpc, respectively. According to these characteristics of the spatial distribution of globular clusters. the chemical evolution of the galactic globular clusters can be accounted for by the two-zone (disk-halo) slow collapse model when the $[Fe/H]_L$-or $[Fe/H]_{{\Delta}s}$-scale is applied. In the case of $[Fe/H]_H$-scale, the one-zone fast collapse model is preferred for the evolution of globular clusters.
This paper deal with the optimal lamination condition of cylindrical shell applied new composite URN300 for a study of composite empirical formula. Finite element analyses for isotropic materials considered element numbers and boundary conditions are compared with existing empirical formulas to apply FE analysis for composite. And composite tensile test is done to know the composite material applied FE analysis for composite. The results of FE analyses for isotropic materials have indicated that Optimal element number and boundary condition were 1600 and both simple support. These conditions were applied in composite FE analyses. Ply orientations and lamination patterns in FE analyses for composite were considered. Ply orientations are $0^{\circ},\;15^{\circ},\;30^{\circ},\;45^{\circ},\;60^{\circ},\;75^{\circ},\;and\;90^{\circ}$. Lamination patterns are $[\pm\theta/0/90]_{14s]$ and $[\pm\theta_{14}/0_{14}/90_{14}]_s$ in FE analysis. Lamination pattern $[\pm\theta_{14}/0_{14}/90_{14}]_s$ is the equivalent model of $[\pm\theta/0/90]_{14s}$. At the result of this study, the FE analyses for composite have indicated that the optimized ply orientation $75^{\circ}$ is and real model must use in FE analysis for accurate results.

The current study addresses the local buckling analysis of an infinite thin rectangular symmetrically laminated composite plate restrained by a tensionless Winkler foundation and subjected to uniform in-plane shear loading. An analytic method (i.e., one-dimensional mathematical method) is used to achieve the analytical solution estimate of the contact buckling coefficient. In addition, to study the effect of ply angle and foundation stiffness on the critical buckling coefficients for the laminated composite plates, the parametric studies are implemented. Moreover, the convergence for finite element (FE) mesh is analysed, and then the examples in the parametric study are validated by the FE analysis. The results show that the FE analysis has a good agreement with the analytical solutions. Finally, an example with the analytical solution and FE analysis is presented to demonstrate the availability and feasibility of the presented analytical method.
Sengon (Falcataria moluccana Miq.) tree offers a wood of low quality and durability owing to its low density and thin cell walls. This study aimed to improve the properties of sengon wood by making the wood magnetic, producing new functions, and characterizing magnetic sengon wood. Each wood sample was treated using one of the following impregnation solutions: Untreated, 7.5% nano magnetite-furfuryl alcohol (Fe3O4-FA), 10% nano Fe3O4-FA, and 12.5% nano Fe3O4-FA. The impregnation process began with vacuum treatment at 0.5 bar for 2 h, followed by applying a pressure of 1 bar for 2 h. The samples were then tested for dimensional stability and density and characterized using scanning electron microscopy and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDX), Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, and vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM) analysis. The results showed that the Fe3O4-FA impregnation treatment considerable affected the dimensional stability, measured in terms of weight percent gain, anti-swelling efficiency, water uptake, and bulking effect, as well as the density of sengon wood. Changes in wood morphology were detected by the presence of Fe deposits in the cell walls and cell cavities of the wood using SEM-EDX analysis. XRD and FTIR analyses showed the appearance of magnetite peaks in the diffractogram and Fe-O functional groups. Based on the VSM analysis, treated sengon wood is classified as a superparamagnetic material with soft magnetic properties. Overall, 10% Fe3O4-FA treatment led to the highest increase in dimensional stability and density of sengon wood.

Samples with compositions of 80 wt% Mg-14 wt% Ni-6 wt% $Fe_2O_3$ and 80 wt% Mg-14 wt% Ni-6 wt% Ti were prepared by mechanical grinding under hydrogen (reactive mechanical grinding). Their hydrogen absorptions during reactive mechanical grinding were examined. TGA and BET analysis were employed to investigate the hydrogen storage properties of the prepared alloys. TGA analysis of the $Mg-14Ni-6Fe_2O_3$ showed an absorbed hydrogen quantity of 6.91 wt% while that of Mg-14Ni-6Ti was 2.59 wt%. BET analysis showed that the specific surface areas of $Mg-14Ni-6Fe_2O_3$ and Mg-14Ni-6Ti after reactive mechanical grinding were $264m^2/g$ and $64m^2/g$, respectively. The larger absorbed hydrogen quantity and the larger specific surface area of $Mg-14Ni-6Fe_2O_3$ after RMG than those of Mg-14Ni-6Ti after RMG showed that the effects of $Fe_2O_3$ addition are much stronger than those of Ti addition during reactive mechanical grinding.
