We develop in this paper the likelihood ratio test (LRT) for testing $H_1 : F_1 \preceq F_2$ against $H_2 - H_1$ where $H_2$ imposes no restriction on $F_1$ and $F_2$ and '$\preceq$' means failure rate ordering. Both one and two-sample problems will be considered. In the one-sample case, one of the two distributions is known, while we assume in the other case both are unknown. We derive the asymptotic null distribution of the LRT statistic which will be of chi-bar-square type. The main issue here is to determine the least favorable distribution which is stochastically largest within the class of null distributions.
In this paper, we introduce the D-ratio of a rational map $f:{\mathbb{P}}^n{\dashrightarrow}{\mathbb{P}}^n$, defined over ${\bar{\mathbb{Q}}}$, whose indeterminacy locus is contained in a hyperplane H on ${\mathbb{P}}^n$. The D-ratio r(f; ${\bar{V}}$) characterizes endomorphisms and provides a useful height inequality on ${\mathbb{P}}^n({\bar{\mathbb{Q}}}){\backslash}H$. We also provide a dynamical application: preperiodic points of dynamical systems of small D-ratio are of bounded height.
This paper suggests a simple approach to determining the screw characteristics for a three0dimensional flow in a channel with a finite aspect ratio(ratio of a width to a depth, W/H) by introducing a Total Shape Factor($F_t$) to correct a two-dimensional flow analysis for a channel with an infinite aspect ratio. In the present study, the Total Shape Factor($F_t$) was defined as a ratio of a net flow rate obtained by the three-dimensional analysis to that by the two-dimensional analysis. In the proposed approach, the quantity, $ \frac{{\partial}F_t}{\partial(H/W)}$ turns out to be almost constant and to play an important role in understanding the effects of the flights. Therefore, $ \frac{{\partial}F_t}{\partial(H/W)}$ are extensively reported in this paper in terms of several dimensionless parameters. This simple approach with such database will be very useful for extruder designers to predict the screw characteristics.
This experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of feed withdrawal (F) and heat acclimatization (A) on malebroiler and -layer chickens responses to acute heat stress (AHS) at four weeks of age. Totals of ninety male chicks of broiler or layer type were randomly allocated into 30 pens of grower batteries with raised wire floors. Chicks were subjected to F and A three times a week through the first three weeks of age. At each time, feed withdrawal and heat acclimatization (T = $35^{\circ}C$) lasted for six and four hours, respectively. Feed consumption (FC), body weight (BW), and feed conversion ratio (FCR) were recorded weekly for broiler type chickens only. At four weeks of age, all groups of chickens were exposed to AHS (T = $39{\pm}1^{\circ}C$) for three hours. Before and after AHS challenge, body temperature (Tb), heterophil (H), and lymphocyte (L) counts were recorded, and H/L ratio was calculated. Antibody (Ab) response to sheep red blood cells (SRBC) was assessed from all treatments without being exposed to AHS. Group F of broiler-type chickens weighed less (p<0.05) compared to control group. Also, both A and F groups of broiler-type chickens consumed less (p<0.05) feed when compared to control group. Acute heat stress elevated Tb of all treatment groups, however the increase was more profound (p<0.001) in broiler chicks. Broiler chicks of both A and F groups showed a tendency to have higher (p = 0.08) Tb when compared to control group. Acute heat stress elevated (p<0.001) H/L ratio in both types of chickens. Broiler chicks maintained higher (p<0.001) H/L ratio. Both F and A groups reduced (p<0.01) the level of elevation in H/L ratio compared to control groups of both types of chickens. Neither A nor F group affected the Ab production in response to SRBC. However, there was a tendency towards higher Ab responses in F group when compared to other groups in both types of chickens. Results of the present study demonstrate that previous history of feed withdrawal or episodes of heat exposures improved chicks'physiological withstanding of AHS and a tendency to improved humoral immune response.
Based on a n-regular polygon $P_n$, we show that $r_n = 1/(2 \sum^{[(n-4)/4]+1}_{j=0}{cos 2j\pi/n)}$ is the ratio of contractions $f_i(1 \leq i \leq n)$ at each vertex of $P_n$ yielding a symmetric gasket $G_n$ associated with the just-touching I.F.S. $g_n = {f_i $\mid$ 1 \leq i \leq n}$. Moreover we see that for any odd n, the ratio $r_n$ is still valid for just-touching I.F.S $H_n = {f_i \circ R $\mid$ 1 \leq i \leq n}$ yielding another symmetric gasket $H_n$ where R is the $\pi/n$-rotation with respect to the center of $P_n$.
This research was conducted to investigate the effects of feeding high and low forage diets with different forage sources on rumen fermentation characteristics and blood parameters of Holstein cows during the dry period. Eight Holstein cows were completely randomized assigned to two groups and repeated measurement was utilized in the analysis. Cows in two treatments were fed with diets with high (F:C = 70:30, 70F; forage source: mixed-sowing whole crop barley and Italian ryegrass silage, BIRG) and low (F:C = 55:45, 55F; forage source: tall fescue hay, TF) forage level. Rumen fluid pH was higher in 70F group. Levels of acetic acid, propionic acid, and butyric acid showed a similar pattern: from the lowest value at 07:30 h to the highest at 10:30 h and then decreased in both groups. The ratio of acetic acid to propionic acid was significantly higher (p < 0.05) in 55F group at 09:30 and 10:30 h. Rumen fluid $NH_3-N$ concentrations were significantly higher (p < 0.05) in 70F group at 09:30 and 10:30 h. Blood urea nitrogen was significantly higher (p < 0.05) in 70F group. It was concluded that BIRG based diet with a high forage level had no adverse effects on rumen fermentation, some blood chemical parameters, and immune system in dry Holstein cows and could be used as a forage source instead of imported TF.
In this study, the residue remaining on the silicon wafer during the oxide overetching using $C_4F_8/H_2$ helicon were plasmas and effects of various cleaning and annealing methods on the removal of the remaining residue were investigated. The addition of 30%$H_2$ to the C4F8 plasma increased the C/F ratio and the thickness of the residue on the etched silicon surface. Most of the residuse on the etched surfaces colud be removed by the oxygen plasmsa cleaning followed by thermal annealing over $450^{\circ}C$. Hydrogen-coataining residue formed on the silicon by 70%$C_4F_8/30%H_2$ helicon plasmas was more easily removed than hydrogen-free residue formed residue formed by $C_4F_8$ helicon wear plasmas. However, damage remaining on the silicon surface overetched using 70%$C_4F_8/30%H_2$ helicon plasmas was intensive and the degree of reocvery duing the post-annealing was lower.
