국민학교 학생의 시력관리 지식 및 실천과 시력장애에 관한 조사연구 -3, 4, 5, 6학년을 중심으로- (A Study on the Visual Impairment State and Knowledge and Practice about Visual Impairment Protective Care of the Primary School Students in Chonbuk Area)

  • This study was designed to grasp the knowledge and practice the level about visual impairment protective care of the primary school students and also analyse the state of visual impairment. The subjects of this study ware 347 students composed of 456 boys and 391 girls in primary school students. The data were collected by questionaire developed for the purpose of this study which has been made through studying references. These were carried out from the 10th to 30th of June 1992. Analysis of the data was done utilizing SPSS for percentage, mean, S.D., T-test., ANOVA and Pearson's Correlation Coefficient. The major results obtained from this study were as follows: 1. The level of the knowledge about visual impairment protective care was in intermediate range (mean on 20 point scale of 12.34, with O=definitely no), but low in aspects of preventive care for overwork of eye (mean on 5 point scale of 2.67). 2. The level of the practice about visual impairment protective care was intermediate range (mean on 20 point scale of 12.34, with O=definitely no), but low in aspects of preventive care for overwork of eye (mean on 5 point scale of 2.58). 3. Significant variables influencing knowledge of visual impairment protective care were sex (p<0.01) and grade (p<0.001). 4. Significant variables influencing practice of visual impairment protective care was living area (p<0.01). 5. Correlation between knowledge and practice: Those who have more knowledge score have more practice score (p<0.001). 6. vision impairment state 1) Student with subnormal in 0.9 or less were 26.3% in left eye and 28.4% in right eye. 2) Student with subnormal in 0.6 or less were 11.9% in left eye and 10.9% in right eye. 7. Vision impairment programs 1) Males are slightly higher in the degree of visual impairment than females. 2) Visual impairment were increased in accordance with the increase of grade. 3) Urban students are higher in the degree of visual impairment than rural students, but these seem to have no statistical meaning.

참조점을 이용한 응시점 추출에 관한 연구 (A Study for Detecting a Gazing Point Based on Reference Points)

  • The information of eye movement is used in various fields such as psychology, ophthalmology, physiology, rehabilitation medicine, web design, HMI(human-machine interface), and so on. Various devices to detect the eye movement have been developed but they are too expensive. The general methods of eye movement tracking are EOG(electro-oculograph), Purkinje image tracker, scleral search coil technique, and video-oculograph(VOG). The purpose of this study is to embody the algorithm which tracks the location of the gazing point at a pupil. Two kinds of location data were compared to track the gazing point. One is the reference points(infrared LEDs) which is effected from the globe. Another is the center point of the pupil which is gained with a CCD camera. The reference point was captured with the CCD camera and infrared lights which were not recognized by human eyes. Both of images which were thrown and were not thrown an infrared light on the globe were captured and saved. The reflected reference points were detected with the brightness difference between the two saved images. In conclusion, the circumcenter theory of a triangle was used to look for the center of the pupil. The location of the gazing point was relatively indicated with the each center of the pupil and the reference point.

  • Purpose ; This Investigation was aimed to find out the Causes, Symptoms, Treatment, and Acupuncture of Epiphora(Watery Eye) in Oriental Medicine Methods ; 49 books were surveyed from to recent published books those referred to Epiphora. Results ; In Oriental Medicine, Epiphora is divided into two types; Cool Watery eye and Hot Watery eye. Both cool and hot type can be redivided into the mild and serious cases. The mild Watery eye means tears on the cheek with the wind; The serious Watery eye means tears on the cheek unrelated the wind from time to time. Conclusions ; The cause of Epiphora can be concluded with the shortage of functional division of Liver and Kidney(肝腎虛), and the chaos and fever of Liver meridian(肝經風熱). In Acupuncture agenst Epiphora, the acupuncture point at Bladder, Gallbladder and Liver meridian occupied the high level of the most often-used acupuncture point list; The acupuncture point at the portion of head and neck, upper extremities, lower extremities, and back, especially around orbit, were mainly used against Epiphora. Recently, beyond conventional acupuncture, Auricular- Acupuncture(耳鍼療法), Herb- Acupuncture(藥鍼療法), Bleeding-Acupuncture(潟血療法), Manipulation(手技療法) used against Epiphora.

안구의 운동방향이 다른 컴퓨터 게임 후 폭주근점과 융합여력의 변화 (The Change of Near Point of Convergence and Fusional Reserves after Computer Gaming with Different Direction of Eye Movement)

  • 목적: 본 연구에서는 안구의 운동방향이 다른 컴퓨터 게임을 일정시간 동안 수행하였을 때 폭주근점 및 융합여력의 변화에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 방법: 안질환, 안과적 수술 및 조절기능의 이상이 없고 교정시력이 1.0 이상인 20대 40명을 대상으로 40분, 90분 동안 안구를 수평방향 및 수직방향으로 움직여야 하는 게임을 각각 실시하게 한 후 수평 및 수직 융합여력 및 폭주근점 값을 측정하였다. 결과: 수평 및 수직방향의 컴퓨터 게임 후 폭주 근점은 게임 전의 검사 값과 비교하여 멀어지는 경향을 보였으며, 수평 및 수직 융합여력은 모두 유의성 있게 감소하였다. 그러나 90분 동안 연속적으로 컴퓨터 게임을 하였을 때에는 융합여력 및 폭주근점의 감소폭이 40분 동안 작업을 수행하였을 경우보다 작았다. 안구의 주 운동방향에 따른 양안시 기능의 변화는 수직방향으로 고정된 운동보다 수평방향에서의 운동에 의해 더 크게 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다. 결론: 본 연구에서는 video display terminal(VDT) 작업시 안구의 주 운동방향에 따라 융합여력 및 폭주근점의 변화가 다르게 나타남을 밝혔다. 따라서 지속된 VDT 작업에 따른 양안시 기능의 저하를 방지하기 위하여서는 주로 사용하게 되는 외안근에 따라 작업시간의 조정이 다르게 요구됨을 알 수 있었다.

Lens Design of the Eyepiece Combined with the Accommodation-dependent Navarro Eye at an On-axis Point

  • We introduce a new method for lens design that combines an eyepiece with the finite model eye, to make a corrected version of the accommodation-dependent Navarro eye. The optical system that we designed, which includes a human eye, takes into account the aberration of the eye and increases the performance of the image in the retina. In the design results, for the optimized eyepiece combined with the corrected Navarro eye, visual acuity is 1.40. Compared with the existing method of eyepiece design using inverse ray tracing with the corrected Navarro eye, MTF value was recorded as 0.079 to 0.283 at 160 lp/mm and visual performance was improved.

  • The discussion in this paper aims to introduce an approach to detect drowsiness with Android based smartphones using the OpenCV platform tools. OpenCV for Android actually provides powerful tools for real-time body's parts tracking. We discuss here about the maximization of the accuracy in real-time eye tracking. Then we try to develop an approach for detecting eye blink by analyzing the structure and color variations of human eyes. Finally, we introduce a time variable to capture drowsiness.

  • In this paper, a new method of Eye Movement Pattern Encoding (EMPE) which is based on electrooculography(EOG) was suggested for the purpose of effective communication between man and machine, instead of Point-Of-Regard-Selection (PORS) method. Also, ocular interface is designed and the typing aid, eye-pattern writer, was constructed for the test of theoretical validity and its practical aspect. Effect of eye fatigue on the performance of ocular interface was quantified through fatigue test.

속눈썹디자인에 따른 눈 형태의 이미지변화 연구 (A Study on the Image Changes of an Eye Shape according to Eyelash Design)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the need of the eyelash design area and the changes of an eye image according to eyelash design. Methodology included both a theoretical research and an empirical research. The theoretical research reviewed previous researches and technical books. The empirical research divided eye shapes, complemented the defect of eye shapes, and examined resulting image changes. A mechanical way was performed for treatment because it was more efficient than a manual way. A J-curl type was used. Eye length was divided into five and the point was determined. The length and density of curl were changed in each point to maximize a treatment effect. As a result, eye images were changed as follows. First, round eyes became stable. Slit eyes became vivid and soft. Wide-set eyes became intelligent and narrow-set eyes became smooth. Large eyes were naturally gradated and small eyes became larger. Double-eyelid eyes became stable and elegant and single-eyelid eyes became gentle and soft. Bulging eyes became easy and soft and sunken eyes became smooth. Peaked eyes became gentle and soft and sleepy eyes became strong and vivid. Based on the findings, eyelash design can play a role in changing an image according to eye shapes. In particular, a speed eyelash extension device to extend eyelash can reduce working hours and gradate only by angle control. It can complement the defect of eyes according to the design of each shape and change into a better image.

달 위상 변화의 시각화 자료에서 SBF 질문에 따른 예비교사와 초등학생의 시선 이동 차이 (The Differences in Eye Movement of Pre-service Teachers and Elementary School Students in SBF Question about a Visual Material of the Change on the Lunar Phases)

  • Purpose of this study is to analyze eye movements of pre-service teachers and elementary students about a visual material of the change on the lunar phases. Eye-Tracker was used for analysis for eye-fixation time and eye movement at the structure, behavior, function question on the visual material. The Results were as follows. First, the pre-service teacher checked the visual materials from a holistic perspective depending on the function questions and fixed eye-fixation on the moon of the behavior question concerned. On the contrary, elementary school student only checked function of the moon located in the upper part and eye-fixation focus was spread here and there regardless of the questions. Second, the pre-service teacher gazed at the sun, earth and moon in a consecutive order depending on the questions to identify their spatial relations and checked location of the moon related to the question. On the contrary, the elementary school student did not view relations between earth, sun and moon from a spatial perspective. These findings indicate that the pre-service teacher conjures up the mechanism of the change on the lunar phases and confirms it in visual materials by visualizing change on the lunar phase model from earth's point of view while the elementary school student fails to take advantage of visual materials to visualize it from earth's point of view.

Design of a Communication-Aid Circuit to Detect Eye-Gazed Patterns

  • A communication-aid circuit to detect eye-gazed patterns is proposed in this paper. The circuit is an analog-digital mixed system. By determining the direction of eye-gazed pattern, the circuit detects an eye-gazed pattern from 2-dimensional arrayed patterns on a syllabary. Different from conventional systems, the syllabary is moved to overlap the eye-gazed pattern with the center coordinate of screen. Thus, the proposed circuit can avoid a complex calculation of the distance between the eye-gazed point and the center coordinate. Furthermore: an economical size of hardware can be provided since no full-adders are required by employing floating-gate MOSFBT's. The validity of the cricuit design is confirmed by computer simulations. Furthermore, to implement onto an IC chip, the layout design is performed by using a CAD tool, MAGIC.
