Purpose: In Korea, market size of social commerce has been increased steadily and highly, but profits of social commerce companies have been decreased because of excessive marketing cost. To overcome this stagnant market environment, new marketing strategy that could attract customers and make customers continue to use social commerce is required instead of cost consuming marketing strategy. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship among characteristics of social commerce - that is, economic value and information quality - usefulness, enjoyment, satisfaction and repurchase intention by applying motivation theory to the area of social commerce. Design/Methodology/Approach: Previous researches have been studied by applying Expectation-Confirmation Model (ECM), Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Stimulus-Organism-Response (S-O-R) Model, although there are many studies related with customer acceptance model in the field of e-commerce. However, there is not so many studies in applying motivation theory. So this study adopts new approach to examine why customers use social commerce based on motivation theory. Thus, this study adopts economic value and information quality as antecedents, and then customers will perceive extrinsic and intrinsic motivation; usefulness is extrinsic and enjoyment is intrinsic, and adopts satisfaction and repurchase intention as a dependent variable. The data of questionnaire were collected from customers who have experience to buy something in social commerce. 228 questionnaires as data unit of individual level were collected using random sampling. Findings: This study proved empirically that the relationship between antecedents and motivation factors has a positive influence, and motivation factors also have a positive influence on repurchase intention through satisfaction. This study provides the managers an insight that social commerce companies should pay more attention to improve customer satisfaction in order to increase higher performance in repurchase intention of social commerce.

The purpose of this study is to empirically identify the influence of social entrepreneurship on the formation of entrepreneurial motivation and entrepreneurial intention. In order to effectively achieve the purpose of the study, a research model and hypotheses are developed based on the results of a comprehensive review of relevant prior literature. The research model is set as social entrepreneurship including innovativeness, risk-taking, initiative, and social value orientation as independent variables, and entrepreneurship motivation is divided into intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. For the study, data were collected from a total of 114 social enterprise-related prospective entrepreneurs and early start-ups, and a research model and hypotheses analysis are conducted. The results of the empirical analysis are summarized as follows. First, all four components of social entrepreneurship were found to have a positive effect on intrinsic motivation. However, it is found that innovativeness and initiative among the components of social entrepreneurship has a positive effect on extrinsic motivation, whereas risk-taking and social value orientation has no significant effect on extrinsic motivation. Second, all four components of social entrepreneurship were found to have a positive effect on the entrepreneurial intention. Third, both intrinsic and extrinsic entrepreneurial motivation are found to have a positive effect on entrepreneurial intention. Finally, in the relationship between social entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial intention, both intrinsic and extrinsic entrepreneurial motivation are confirmed to have a positive mediating effect. This study specified the factors of social entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship motivation that affect entrepreneurship awareness and behavior targeting social enterprises with differentiated characteristics from existing for-profit enterprises. And through an empirical analysis of the influence relationship between these factors, an attempt was made to derive academic and practical implications.
The Expectation Confirmation Model (ECM) of information systems investigates the continued information systems usage behavior. This paper expands the original post-adoption beliefs and searches the applications in the emerging hedonic information systems. Previous IS researches focused on the organizational environments. However as the information technology (especially internet) evolves, information systems have not only emerged for the organizations but also for the individual users, such as internet portals, internet communities, on-line games etc. These information systems so called Hedonic Information Systems aims to provide self-fulfilling value rather than instrumental value to the users. Researches in other disciplines, including marketing and consumer behavior research, illustrate that the hedonic and utilitarian perspective of goods and services have different influence on the consumer behavior. Goods and services used to be classified into either hedonic or utilitarian aspect but now they may belong to both aspects simultaneously. Moreover consumer's goals or tasks have both hedonic utilitarian aspects. When a consumer makes a decision to purchase or repurchase goods or services, he/she compares the hedonic and utilitarian perspectives of goods to find most suitable ones to satisfy their goals/tasks. Finally, consumer's behavior is determined by the trade-off between what the goods can provide to the consumers and in what extent the goods fulfill consumer's purchase behavior. Consumer also shows that the salience of hedonic perspective is relatively greater when consumer decides which of several items to give up (forfeiture choices) than the time when they decide which item to acquire (acquisition choices). Some researches in MIS discipline have found out that the information systems also have both hedonic and utilitarian perspectives. The decision process of whether to use information systems or not is similar to that of a consumer's decision of purchasing or repurchasing goods or services. However most of researches in MIS tend to focus on the extrinsic motivation variables which only cover the utilitarian perspective of information systems. It is only recent that researches start to investigate the intrinsic motivation variable - Perceived Enjoyment - for the hedonic perspective. Considering the consumer's purchasing decision process, users of information systems evaluate the systems through balancing between intrinsic (hedonic) and extrinsic (utilitarian) variables according to their main tasks or tendencies. This paper proposes a model that is based on the ECM of IS Continuance model modified from Expectation Confirmation Model to fit into the continued usage of information system. It first started from the decision process regarding hedonic and utilitarian perspectives in the consumer behavior literatures. The model deals with continued usage of information systems beyond the mere technology adoption as in most of the previous MIS researches. This research is particularly important to the hedonic information systems, because their business model depends on the frequent usages rather simple adoption at the beginning. Because the basic model only considered the extrinsic motivations (perceived usefulness) to explain the users' behavior and as the information systems can have both hedonic and utilitarian dimensions, it should consider both perspectives. Therefore, this newly proposed model considers intrinsic variable (perceived enjoyment) as well. Since the individual user can have a preference on either aspects that is between the hedonic and utilitarian perspective depending on his/her main tasks or goals, some variables (Hedonic Orientation and Utilitarian Orientation) meaning the extents of users' pursuing from the information system were additionally studied.

This study examined the effects of work values and the career decision level on the major commitment of the university students majoring in social welfare. For this purpose, a survey of 351 undergraduate students majoring in social welfare at 4 universities located in Kangwon-do was conducted and the data were analyzed. The work values consisted of intrinsic values and extrinsic values. The career decision level was measured by the career decision scale (CDS) and the major commitment was measured by the flow state scale (FSS). The research findings are as follows. First, the career decision level (3.43) and major commitment (3.58) of the university students majoring in social welfare were slightly higher than the mid-point on the 5 point Likert scale. In addition, the intrinsic work value (4.05) were higher than the extrinsic work value (3.34). Second, the intrinsic work values and career decision level were positively correlated with the major commitment. Third, the extrinsic work value had a negative effect on the major commitment (${\beta}=-.34$, p<.001); however, the intrinsic work value (${\beta}=.31$, p<.001) and career decision level (${\beta}=.18$, p<.001) had a positive effects on the major commitment. This paper also discusses the theoretical and practical implications for university student's work values, career decision level, and major commitment based on the research findings.
Purpose Quality and quantity of knowledge in virtual communities is at the discretion of knowledge contributors, and understanding what motivates knowledge contributors' behavior can be invaluable. The purpose of this paper is to find the social aspect of knowledge contribution in virtual communities within the frame of self-determination theory. Also, we seek differential effects of motivation value for novice vs. expert knowledge contributors. Design/methodology/approach Reputation and altruistic motives are studied as antecedents of intrinsic and extrinsic values in contributing knowledge in virtual communities. Gained social connectedness and satisfaction in their knowledge were behaviors studied as dependents of the motivational value. Also, the proposed model was tested for group differences between expert and novice knowledge contributors seeking motivational changes. Self-determination theory is the base theory which explains how externally motivated behaviors can evolve from extrinsically motivated to intrinsic-like behavior with social experiences as knowledge contributors. Findings Analysis of 262 data points gathered from knowledge contributors in Korean virtual communities in 2005 reveals social connectedness as an important dependent variable both for novice and expert knowledge contributors. Group difference analysis shows altruism has negative influence on extrinsic value only for experts. Intrinsic value has a positive influence on satisfaction for both groups alike but the expert group shows a statistically stronger influence than the other.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of learning motivation on interaction in online collaborative learning. The study subjects are 79 university students who take courses in teaching. Learning motivations measured the intrinsic goal orientation, extrinsic goal orientation, tasks value, control of learning beliefs, test anxiety, self-efficacy, goal orientation by MSLQ. Next, the level of interaction was measured by online collaborative tasks. The group for online cooperation tasks consisted of four to five people and random assignment. The level of interaction was used frequency and score that quantitative Value assess. The collected data were analysed using multiple regression analysis(stepwise). As a result, self-efficacy and extrinsic goal orientation, tasks value, mastery goal orientation were positive effect on frequency and score. next, test anxiety and performance avoid goal orientation were negative effect on frequency and score.
Co-creation is an important approach to innovation that uses internal and external sources for value creation. This study identified the effects of intrinsic motivation, extrinsic motivation, and the moderating effects of activation factors using multiple regression and moderated multiple regression. To this end, 181 usable questionnaires were collected and analyzed. The result of analysis showed that intrinsic motivation had the significant meaning and the moderating effects of activation factors on the relationship between extrinsic motivation and co-creation participation exist. Companies may use this result to activate the co-creation participation of the customer. The future study analyzed by survey responses in multiple layers will improve the generalization of the study.

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: In this study, the apoptogenic activity and mechanisms of cell death induced by hexane extract of aged black garlic (HEABG) were investigated in human leukemic U937 cells. MATERIALS/METHODS: Cytotoxicity was evaluated by MTT (3-(4, 5-dimethyl-thiazol-2-yl)-2, 5-diphenyl tetrazoliumbromide) assay. Apoptosis was detected using 4,6-diamidino-2-phenyllindile (DAPI) staining, agarose gel electrophoresis and flow cytometry. The protein levels were determined by Western blot analysis. Caspase activity was measured using a colorimetric assay. RESULTS: Exposure to HEABG was found to result in a concentration- and time-dependent growth inhibition by induction of apoptosis, which was associated with an up-regulation of death receptor 4 and Fas legend, and an increase in the ratio of Bax/Bcl-2 protein expression. Apoptosis-inducing concentrations of HEABG induced the activation of caspase-9, an initiator caspase of the mitochodrial mediated intrinsic pathway, and caspase-3, accompanied by proteolytic degradation of poly(ADP-ribose)-polymerase. HEABG also induced apoptosis via a death receptor mediated extrinsic pathway by caspase-8 activation, resulting in the truncation of Bid, and suggesting the existence of cross-talk between the extrinsic and intrinsic pathways. However, pre-treatment of U937 cells with the caspase-3 inhibitor, z-DEVD-fmk, significantly blocked the HEABG-induced apoptosis of these cells, and increased the survival rate of HEABG-treated cells, confirming that HEABG-induced apoptosis is mediated through activation of caspase cascade. CONCLUSIONS: Based on the overall results, we suggest that HEABG reduces leukemic cell growth by inducing caspase-dependent apoptosis through both intrinsic and extrinsic pathways, implying its potential therapeutic value in the treatment of leukemia.
This study tested major determinants of customer satisfaction and loyalty by varying degrees of customers' knowledge level. Also, authors investigated the degrees of those impacts by classifying industries into two groups(service/manufacturing). Based on 4,000 completed surveys from five major cities, authors found the relationship among perceived quality, perceived value, and corporate image with customer satisfaction and customer loyalty. As a result, corporate image(extrinsic cue) was a major determinant to customers who are low knowledgeable and impacts of corporate image on customer satisfaction was stronger in service industry than manufacturing industry.
