Vibration and deformation sensing control of lightweight structures using optical fiber sensor technology is introduced in this presentation. This paper shows several examples of vibration control and deformation estimation for structures using these optical fiber sensor systems. Among various optical fiber sensors, in this paper, two types of optical fiber sensors, Fabry-Perot Interferometer(EFPI) and Fiber Bragg Grating(FBG) sensors, are mainly dealt with. Fiber optic sensors show many advantages over conventional strain gages for the measurement of vibration and deformation of lightweight structures.
Vibration control of a plate using an optical fiber sensor and a piezoelectric actuator is considered in the present study, An aluminum plate with attached Extrinsic Fabry-Perot Interferometer (EFPI) and piezoelectric actuator is prepared for experimental investigation. Vibration level of EFPI that can represent the mechanical strain without severe distortion Is validated by forced nitration experiment. A linear time invariant system model is constructed based on the experimentally obtained frequency responses, and an optimal controller is designed for the multi-modal vibration suppression. Control performance is presented in frequency and time domains. It is found that the nitration level of the first three modes can be greatly reduced. The effect of low-pass filtering used to eliminate high frequency noise on the stability and control performance is also considered.
The c-myc proto-oncogene encodes a nuclear protein that is deregulated and/or mutated in most human cancers. Acting primarily as an activator and sometimes as a repressor, MYC protein controls the synthesis of up to 10-15% of genes. The key MYC targets contributing to oncogenesis are incompletely enumerated and it is not known whether pathology arises from the expression of physiologic targets at abnormal levels or from the pathologic response of new target genes that are not normally regulated by MYC. Regardless of which, available evidence indicates that the level of MYC expression is an important determinant of MYC biology. The c-myc promoter has architectural and functional features that contribute to uniform expression and help to prevent or mitigate conditions that might otherwise create noisy expression. Those features include the use of an expanded proximal promoter, the averaging of input from dozens of transcription factors, and real-time feedback using the supercoil-deformable Far UpStream Element (FUSE) as physical sensor of ongoing transcriptional activity, and the FUSE binding protein (FBP) as well as the FBP interacting repressor (FIR) as effectors to enforce normal transcription from the c-myc promoter.

DC and low frequency noise characteristics of InGaP/InGaAs pseudomorphic HEMTs (p-HEMTs) grown by compound source MBE are investigated for temperature range of 150K to 370K. Equivalent input noise spectra( $S_{iv}$ ) were measured as a function of frequency and temperature. $S_{iv}$ was measured to be 3.4 $\times$ 10$^{-12}$$V^2$/ Hz at 1kHz for 1.3 X 50${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$$^2$InGaP/InGaAs p-HEMT at room temperature. Measurements of the low-frequency noise spectra of the p-HEMT as a function of temperature show that the trap with an activation energy level around 0.589 eV is a dominant trap that accounts for the low-frequency noise behavior of the device. The normalized extrinsic gm frequency dispersion of the p-HEMT. was as low as 2.5% at room temperature, indicating that the device has well-behaved low-frequency noise characteristics. Sub-micron (0.25 $\times$ 50${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$$^2$) gate p-HEMT showed $f_{T}$ and $f_{max}$ of 40GHz and 108GHz, respectively.y.y.
On-line phase tracking of an extrinsic Fabry-Perot interferometer (EFPI) and experimental vibration control of a composite beam with a sensing-patch are investigated. We propose a sensing-patch for the compensation of the interferometric non-linearity. In this paper. a sensing-patch that comprises an EFPI and a piezo ceramic(PZT) is fabricated and the characteristics of the sensing-patch are experimentally investigated. A simple and practical logic is applied for the real-time tracking of optical phase of an interferometer Experimental results show that the proposed sensing-patch does not have the non-linear behavior of conventional EFPI and hysteresis of piezoelectric material. Moreover, it has good strain resolution and wide dynamic sensing range. Finally, the vibration control with the developed sensing-patch has been performed using Fuzzy logic controller, and the possibility of sensing-patch as a sensoriactuator is considered.
In general, camera calibration is consisted of Indoor and Outdoor system. In case of Indoor system, it was optimized experimental condition. However, Outdoor system is different camera parameters for each image that is compared to equaled position. That is, it imply that camera parameters are varied by an environment with light or impulse noise, etc. So we make use of Image sequence because that they provide the more information for each image. In addition to, we use Corresponding line because it has less error than Corresponding point. Corresponding line has also the more information. In this paper, we suggest on-line camera calibration method using the time-varying Image sequence and Corresponding line. So we calculate camera parameters with intrinsic and extrinsic parameters in On-line system.
This paper proposes a new min-sum algorithm for low-density parity-check decoding. In this paper, we first define the negative and positive effects of the received signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) in the min-sum decoding algorithm. To improve the performance of error correction by considering the negative and positive effects of the received SNR, the proposed algorithm applies adaptive scaling factors not only to extrinsic information but also to a received log-likelihood ratio. We also propose a combined variable and check node architecture to realize the proposed algorithm with low complexity. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm achieves up to 0.4 dB coding gain with low complexity compared to existing min-sum-based algorithms.
In this paper, the epipolar geometry, genera17y used as a pin-hole camera model, is newly adapted to our proposed method that enables the affine reconstruction of the 3D object from two projected views. The proposed method models the projective projection of inherent X-ray imaging system, obviates the need to attach artifirially constructed material on the body, and requires none of the prior-knowledge regarding to intrinsic and extrinsic parameters of two X-ray imaging systems. The optimum numerical solution is obtained by applying the least mean square estimator to corresponding points on two projected X-ray planes. The performance of this proposed method is Quantitatively analyzed using computer synthesized model of Cochlear implantation electrodes. In simulated experiments, the propnsed method is insensitive to the added random noise, the scaling factor change, the center point change, and rotational angular change between two projection planes, as well as enables the stable 3D reconstruction in least square sense even in worst testing cases.
