  • Although widely used in external beam treatment planning, computed tomography scans are infrequent in incranial tumors by implanting of Radioactive isotope. This incranial brachytherapy has only become possible by using CT scans and stereotaxic operation methods. The coincidence of single source and tumor axes in brachytherapy is very important to determine the therapeutic dosages. Eventhough using the CT scan, according to spatial location of tumor tying, the section of tumor will be seen enlargement, cause the tumor will be cut off with slight angle to its axes. Correct analysis of tumor size from source is required for rotated axes in analytical geometry.

  • The purpose of this research is to study methods for performing transition that have visual representation of corresponding animations with no bounce in subsequently recognized user information when attempting to interact with a virtual 3D character in real-time using user motion. If the transitions of the animation are needed owing to a variety of external environments, continuous recognition of user information is required to correspond to the motion. The proposed method includes linear interpolation of the transition using cross-fades and blending techniques. The normalized playing time of the source animation was utilized for automatically calculating the transition interpolation length of the target animation and also as the criteria in selecting the crossfades and blending techniques. In particular, in the case of blending, the weighting value based on the degree of similarity between two animations is used as a blending parameter. Accordingly, transitions for visually excellent animation are performed on interactive holographic projection systems.

  • It is shown, that both cosmic radiation (external source) and natural radioactive gases (inner source) are sources of neutrons near the Earth crust. Correlation between the Earth crust dynamics and variations of thermal and slow neutron flux near the Earth surface is studied. It is shown, that variations of neutron flux near the Earth crust can be used for short-term predicting of natural hazards.

  • In this paper, we suggest a new referencing method for the array On-The-Fly(OTF) observations in radio astronomy. To reduce the baseline residual, we have proposed and evaluated a new referencing method which uses the source free regions in the observed frame as references. These new references have small ${\Delta}$t and ${\Delta}$x, the time and position differences between the source and the references, and the systematic problems w~re improved by using this new referencing method. The curved baseline residuals were straightened and the rms was reduced to 17 mK. This new referencing method is expected not only to make possible to take more stable data for the array OTF observation of external galaxies but also to save the observation and data reduction time.

  • This paper is to report the results on the design and construction of a thermal plasma generator with high current DC source. Also, this paper presents the methods to stabilize plasma and to find effects of process variables on plasma characteristics. For this purpose, the reaction chamber, vacuum system, plasma generating torch, magnetic field generating coil with power supply, high current DC source and the other parts have been designed. Fundamental properties of the thermal plasma under various conditions have been measured and analyzed. Magnetic Reynolds Number has been introduced to explain the relationship between plasma and external magnetic field. Through this number, the effect of magnetic field on the plasma has been explained under various flow rates and pressure. A sudden increase in the plasma voltage has been observed with the increase of magnetic field. From this, fundamental changes in plasma flow are believed to occur at the nozzle, and an effort to explain the phenomenon has been tried.

  • The magnetized helical resonator plasma etcher has been built. Electron density and temperature were measured as functions of rf source power, axial magnetic field, and pressure. The results show electron density increases as the magnetic field increases and reached $2\times1012cm^{-3}$,/TEX>. The oxide etch rate and selectivity to polysilicon were investigated as the above mentioned conditions and self-bias voltage. We can obtain the much improved oxide etch selectivity to polysilicon (60 : 1) by applying the external axial weak magnetic field in magnetized helical resonator plasma etcher.

  • A regenerative signal amplifying gate driver of self-excited electronic ballast is presented. It can be used for high pressure sodium (HPS) lamp without auxiliary external ignitor. Since the HPS lamp requires very high ignition voltage at start up, the resonant frequency of the circuit must be increased to obtain high voltage oscillations in spite of relatively small resonant current. The presented gate driver amplifies the current of gate drive transformer and raises the gate-source voltage Quickly to turn on the MOSFET switches. Hence, the resonant frequency can be increased more than 100kHz. The HPS lamp used in the simulation and experiment has the rating of 400W input power at 220V input ac voltage source. The experiments show that the resonant frequency is above 150kHz at start up.

  • The impedance of an electro-acoustic transducer can be controlled by motional feedback, and the noise in a duct can be reduced actively by adjusting the impedance using an additional sound. In this paper, two approaches for active noise control using motional feedback (MFB) loudspeaker are described. First configuration uses an external sensor to pickup of source directly. In this configuration, the adaptation of controller is necessary to compensate the change of transfer function from noise source to control poing. The second configuration uses a new adaptive algorithm specialized for peridic noise. Because this configuration does not require any reference input and the error sensor couples very tightly with control loudspeaker, this MFB system itself is independent of the duct condition. No microphone are required in both configurations, so that a more reliable and stable active control system can be realized under severe conditions such as high pressure, high temperature, dust, flow and so on.

  • The influence of adding iodine as a contrast substance to elevate radiation in a tumor is studied using simulation techniques of Monte-Carlo. The study is carried on a brain cancer by adopting an unsophisticated head phantom. The ionizing radiation source is an external beam of x-rays with energy range of a few tens of keV. The expected radiation dose increment due to adding the iodine is investigated by comparing the radiation in the tumor after and before adding the iodine and calculating the ratio between the two doses. Several concentrations of the contrast substance are used to quantify its impact. The change of the dose increment with the source energy is also examined. It is found that the radiation elevation in the tumor tends to saturate with increasing the iodine concentration, and for the studied domain of energies (30 keV-100 keV), the radiation dose enhancement factors (RDEF) for the different iodine concentrations (1%-9%) show peaked curves, with the peak occurring between 60 keV and 70 keV. For the highest concentration studied, 9%, the peak value is almost 7.

  • A basic coherent optical transmission was demonstrated using FSK modulation and heterodyne detection scheme. Optical frequency of DFB LD light source at the transmitter side was stabilized with Fabry Perot etalon and bias feedback circuit. A tunable external cavity LD was used as a local oscillator at the receiver. Heterodyned output signal at IF frequency of 2GHz was measured and discussed.
