A Study on the Electric Characteristics of High Tc Superconductor (전력기기용 초전도의 전기적 특성)

  • The electric properties in YBCO superconductor was studied. In the measurement of current-voltage characteristics, a voltage across the superconducting sample was observed on applying an external magnetic field. The voltage increases with increase in applied magnetic flux, but it becomes constant at about $10^{-2}T$. The voltage continues to appear the removal of the magnetic field. The appearance of the voltage is ascribed to the trapping of magnetic flux. Depending on the direction of applied magnetic flux less than $2.5{\times}10^{-5}T$, the voltage in the magnetized sample increases or decreases.

Enhancement of Photocurrent Generation by C60-encapsulated Single-walled Carbon Nanotubes in Ru-sensitized Photoelectrochemical Cell

  • Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) and $C_{60}$-encapsulated SWNTs ($C_{60}@SWNTs$) are introduced to Ru-sensitized photoelectrochemical cells (PECs), and photocurrents are compared between two cells, i.e., an $RuL_2(NCS)_2$/DAPV/SWNTs/ITO cell and an $RuL_2(NCS)_2$/DAPV/$C_{60}@SWNTs$/ITO cell. [L = 2,2'-bipyridine-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid, DAPV = di-(3-aminopropyl)-viologen, and ITO = indium-tin oxide] The photocurrents are increased by 70.6% in the presence of $C_{60}@SWNTs$. To explain the photocurrent increase, the reverse-field emission method is used, i.e., $RuL_2(NCS)_2$/DAPV/SWNTs/ITO cell (or $RuL_2(NCS)_2$/DAPV/$C_{60}@SWNTs$/ITO cell) as an anode and a counter electrode Pt as a cathode in the external electric field. The improved field emission properties, i.e., ${\beta}$ (field enhancement factor) and emission currents in the reverse-field emission with $C_{60}@SWNTs$ indicate the enhancement of the PEC electric field, which implies the improvement of the electron transfer rate along with the reduced charge recombination in the cell.

  • For external noise prediction of railway vehicles, sophisticated individual source modelling as well as appropriate noise propagation model from the sources is necessary to ensure the accuracy of the predicted results and contributions of each equipment to the overall noise levels. Accurate and reasonable identification procedures of sound sources of equipment including source strength, directivity and positions installed in the train play an important role in a prediction model, since it is not easy to establish a simple model for the sources with a single rule due to the complexity of source characteristics of equipment in size and directivity pattern. This paper guidelines practical considerations for identification of noise sources in railway vehicles including typical source characteristics of several sub-systems that emits noise to the environment, particularly for electric multiple unit(EMU), and verify effectiveness of assumptions used in the modelling of equipment by measurement with a simple part. The predicted external noise level of a complete train using Exnoise, which was developed by Hyundai-Rotem and has been verified in the a lot of field-tests, incorporating source modelling considered in this paper shows close correlation with the measured ones.

  • We have studied the pressure-dependent liquid crystal's dynamics in a twisted nematic (TN) liquid crystal panel with thin film transistor by applying an external pressure to it. When the external pressure is applied to the panel in a dark state, the disclination lines were generated as a light leakage whereas they did not appear in a simple test cell that has only pixel and common electrodes. It was because the disclination lines were Provoked by the electric field between pixel electrode and data/gate bus line for active matrix driving. Consequently, the external pressure resulted in dynamic instability of the liquid crystal so that the disclination lines at the data/gate bus line intruded into the active area.

  • In this work, we report on the characterization of six low-$T_g$ poly[methyl-3-(9-carbazolyl) propylsiloxane] based photorefractive (PR) composites sensitized with poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) in different concentrations, ranging from 0.2 to 1 wt %. At 632.8 nm, photoconductivity, space charge field, refractive index modulation, and grating buildup time were measured versus external electric field. The photoconductivity was strongly dependent on the visible light absorption and mobility. The magnitude of space charge field was affected by the conductivity contrast $\sigma_{ph}/(\sigma_{ph}+\sigma_d)$. The refractive index modulation increased with the magnitude of space charge field and the PR grating buildup speed increased with the photoconductivity.

  • We present detailed studies of externally applicable UHF PD sensors for a metal covered epoxy barrier with a small opening of epoxy injection-hole. The sensors were attached at the surface of injection hole of a metal covered epoxy barrier. 3-Dimensional electro magnetic simulations were performed to analyze electric-field distribution of the GIS and epoxy barrier with injection hole. Sensor structures were designed and analyzed using the 3-D EM simulator then fabricated for experimental verification. Sensor performance was measured in terms of spectral response and detected peak power. Real scale GIS and epoxy barriers were used to test and measure various aspect of performance of the sensors.

  • The influence of an electric field on the combustion synthesis of ${Ti}_{5}{Si}_{3}$-x ${ZrO}_{2)$(0 $\leq$ x $\leq$0.6)was investigated. Composite of X $\geq$0.45 can only be synthesized in the presence of an electric field. Although in the absence of an electri field the system with x = 0.45 and x=0.6 can sustain a nonsteady combustion wave, the reaction is not complete. That is, an unstable wave propagates to the middle of the sample and them becomes extinguished. Wave velocity o the ${Ti}_{5}{Si}_{3}-{ZrO}_{2}$ Composites slightly increases with the imposition of external field across the sample.

  • A new model for the continuous-magnetic interferences has been proposed in this paper to remove external interferes of magnetic field to the dual electric compass. By this removal, the dual electric compass can be used for proving the azimuth angle in an automobile navigation system instead of the rate gyroscope. In the navigation system with a GPS receiver, a DR sensor such as a rate gyroscope is needed to overcome the shielded areas, which is relatively expensive and requires frequent calibrations. However the dual electric compass designed by this research is cheap and provides absolute azimuth angle precisely, which is beneficiary to be used as a DR sensor. The main contribution of this paper is that the long-lasting magnetic interferences have been removed out by using the proposed model, which never be studied before. With a hybrid navigation system using a DR sensor, we demonstrated that dual electric compass is better than a rate gyroscope in terms of both economics and performances.

  • People grow up and build up most of their character through living in dwelling space and have relax and refresh at home. Creating healthy dwelling space is being considered very important in architectural planning and design for providing comfortable living environment and improving quality of life. One of the properties of the earth is that the earth has a magnetic field associated with it- the Geomagnetic field. The geomagnetic field is produced by a combination of crustal rocks, external electric current systems that surround the earth that surround the earth and currents induced in the outer layers of the earth by magnetic field variations. Human beings have evolved with the background of magnetic field, they are accustomed to living in its presence. Geopathic stress occurs at geopathic zones where the geomagnetic field is disturbed. Geopathic zones exhibit magnetic charges. Geopathic zones are characterized by variations in geomagnetism, for the geomagnetic field is not uniform but exhibits many highly localized distortions, some random, some fairly regular. These occur in geological faults, caves and underground water channel. Many research papers and experiments of the western countries indicates that the geomagnetic field affects the people and living organism in dwellings. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate the geomagnetic field and people's response in living space. In this study the Health Hazard of geomagneic field in dwelling are studied through literature survey of related science field.

Direct-Current Dielectrophoretic Motions of a Pair of Particles due to Interactions with a Nearby Nonconducting Wall (비전도성 벽과의 상호작용에 따른 한 쌍 입자의 직류 유전영동 운동)

  • The present study numerically investigated two-dimensional dielectrophoretic motions of a pair of particles suspended freely in a viscous fluid, interacting with a nearby nonconducting planar wall, under an external uniform electric field. The results show that the motions depend strongly on the set of two electric conductivity signs and the particles-wall separation gap. When both particles have the same sign, they revolve and finally align parallel to the electric field. In contrast, with different signs, they revolve in the opposite direction and finally align perpendicular to the field. Simultaneously, they are repelled to move farther away from the wall regardless of their conductivity set. With further separation from the wall, the particles-wall interaction effect diminishes and tthe particle-particle effect dominates.
