The effective management of R&D employees is critical for a small or medium sized firm's sustainable growth. R&D employees have professional skills and choose expertise-oriented or management-oriented careers in the process of organizational socialization. This study synthetically verifies the direct and indirect effects of R&D employees' social network and self-esteem on their career orientation by organizational commitment based on social network theory and social recognition theory. The research model has been analyzed through structural equation modeling using survey responses from 220 R&D employees at small- and medium-sized firms in Korea. The analysis results show that internal network activities have direct and indirect impacts on organizational commitment and career orientation, but external network activities do not have significant effects on self-esteem, organizational commitment, or career orientation. There is no consensus in prior studies on whether expert orientation and management orientation are distinct concepts. In this study, these two types of orientation are verified as distinct concepts. It is also found that R&D employees' internal network activities are significant factors for a company's growth. A company should implement an educational system of roles and duties using which individuals can pursue career progression. In addition, it is necessary to provide career development programs such as job rotation, mentoring, and career counseling.
To date, the literature has focused on formal R&D activities, such as internal, joint or external R&D, but informal R&D activities, such as job training or design, can also have a positive impact on technological innovation. To address this research gap, this paper examined 1) the influence of informal R&D activities on innovation adoption, and 2) the differences between formal R&D-oriented and informal R&D-oriented firms in process and product innovation. For this, statistical analysis was conducted using the data set from 2012 Korea Innovation Survey. The results suggest that 1) informal R&D activities can influence process innovation, and 2) firms engaging in both informal and formal R&D actively adopt product innovation. Findings suggest that 1) firms should recognize the importance of informal R&D and 2) national R&D policy should reflect the positive role of informal R&D in technological innovation.

This paper presents procedure and prediction method of internal and external stabilities when designing D.C.M, with main factors to be considered, such as chemical reaction of additive, physical properties of stabilized body and mixing strength. Results show that through case studies, a design unconfined compressive strength of stabilized body (hereafter referred to as 'compressive strength') directly depends on the quantity of cement, which is decided by laboratory test, and the compressive strength enormously affects internal and external stabilities. So laboratory mixing test to obtain the compressive strength for design allowable stress should be given careful considerations.
The study examined the effect of collaboration with external institution on new product sales, the mediating effects of technological innovation, and the moderating effect of marketing capability. The results showed that external collaboration with external institution has a significant impact on new product sales in the R&D field of SMEs, and technological innovation plays a mediating role in the relationship between collaboration with external institution and new product sales. Also, the effect of marketing capability in the relationship between technological innovation and new product sales was also significant. Finally, the mediating effect of technological innovation between collaboration with external institution and new product sales was moderated by marketing capability.

The three dimensional-quantitative structure activity relationship (3D-QSAR) studies on chemical features of pyridine-2-amines in the external region of c-Met active site (ER chemical features of pyridine-2-amines) were conducted by docking, comparative molecular field analysis (CoMFA), and topomer CoMFA methods. The CoMFA model obtained the partial least-squares (PLS) statistical results, cross-validated correlation coefficient ($q^2$) of 0.703, non cross-validated correlation coefficient ($r^2$) of 0.947 with standard error of estimate (SEE) of 0.23 and the topomer CoMFA obtained $q^2$ of 0.803, $r^2$ of 0.940, and SEE of 0.24. Further, the test set was applied to validate predictive abilities of models, where the predictive $r^2$ ($r{^2}_{pred}$) for CoMFA and topomer CoMFA models were 0.746 and 0.608, respectively. Each contribution of ER chemical features of pyridine-2-amines to the inhibitory potency showed correlation coefficients, $r^2$ of 0.670 and 0.913 for two core parts, 3-(benzo[d]oxazol-2-yl)pyridine-2-amine and 3-(1-(2,6-dichloro-3-fluorophenyl)ethoxy) pyridine-2-amine, respectively, with corresponding experimental $pIC_{50}$.

This paper proposes an optimal design method for an unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) platform to overcome strong current. First, to minimize the hydrodynamic drag components in water, the vehicle is designed to have a streamlined disc shape, which help maintaining horizontal motion (zero roll and pitch angles posture) while overcoming external current. To this end, four vertical thrusters are symmetrically mounted outside of the platform to stabilize the vehicle's horizontal motion. In the horizontal plane, four horizontal thrusters are symmetrically mounted outside of the disc, and each of them has the same forward and reverse thrust performances. With these four thrusters, a specific thrust vector control (TVC) method is proposed, and for external current in any direction, four horizontal thrusters are controlled to generate a vectored thrust force to encounter the current while minimizing the vehicle's rotation and maintaining its heading. However, for the numerical simulations, the vehicle's hydrodynamic coefficients related to the horizontal plane are derived based on both theoretical and empirically derived formulas. In addition to the simulation, experimental studies in both the water tank and circulating water channel are performed to verify the vehicle's various final performances, including its ability to overcome strong current.

The aeroelastic stability of a fighter type aircraft can be severly affected by the store mass, aerodynamic characteristics, and store combinations. Hence, the stability for the all store configurations must be substantiated before the aircraft in service. For the aeroelastic analysis, the design data and information for the aircraft structure, mass distribution, control surface characteristics, and external shape etc. are required. This is the reason that the store compatibility substantiations by a third party are restricted. However, according to the change of operational environment or the improvement of avionic technology, a new external store is developed and it should be installed on an aircraft without the support from the original supplier. This paper describe the process to substantiate the aeroelastic compatibility between a new external store and an imported aircraft whose design data is not available to a third party operating the aircraft.

A new method, the external resistance method (ERM method), is proposed for accurate extraction of the gate bias-dependent effective channel carrier mobility (${\mu}_{eff}$) and separated parasitic source/drain resistances ($R_S$ and $R_D$) of n-channel MOSFET's. The proposed ERM method is applied to n-channel LDD MOSFETs with two different gate lengths ($W_m/L_m=30{\mu}m/0.6{\mu}m,\;30{\mu}m/1{\mu}m$) in the linear mode of current-voltage characteristics ($I_D-V_{GS},\;V_{DS}$). We also considered gate voltage dependence of separated $R_2$ and $R_D$ in the accurate modeling and extraction of effective channel carrier mobility. Good agreement of experimental data is observed in submicron n-channel LDD MOSFETs. Combining with capacitance-voltage characteristics, the ERM method is expected to be very useful for accurate and efficient extraction of ${\mu}_{eff},\;R_D,\;R_S$, and other characteristic parameters in both symmetric and asymmetric structure MOSFET's in which parasitic resistances are critical to the improvement of high speed performance and reliability.
The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of the thickness eccentricity on the collapse pressure of a subsea pipeline subjected to external pressure. The collapse behavior of the subsea pipeline containing initial imperfection was evaluated using elastic-plastic finite element (FE) analyses. API 5L X65 and API 5L X80 Pipelines with the thickness eccentricity values between 4~16% were adopted to investigate the plastic collapse under hydrostatic pressure. A parametric study was shown that the plastic collapse pressure decreased when either the thickness eccentricity or the ratio of diameter to thickness increased.
In SMEs, technological innovation is recognized as an important tool in terms of sustainable growth. This study analyzed the determinants of technological innovation by using the information of the corporate panel DB composed of local SMEs. The internal factors were added with technological innovation capacity and production capacity and the industrial cluster environment was first applied to external factors. Also, whether the industrial cluster environment influences technological innovation through R&D capabilities, the mediating effect was tested with the Sobel Test. Among the internal and external factors, the most important determinant was marketing ability, and a policy was proposed to develop measures to increase R&D capability with mediating effect. Among the technological innovation variables, which are dependent variables, the most determinant factor was the proportion of new product sales. For this, it is considered that additional research such as longitudinal research with the concept of repetition and parallax using the corporate panel DB is necessary.
