In this paper, we propose an adaptive gait by which a quadruped walking robot can walk against external disturbances. This adaptive gait mechanism makes it possible for a quadruped walking robot to change its gait and accommodate external disturbances form various external environmental factors. Under the assumption that external disturbances can be converted to an external force acting on the body of a quadruped walking robot, we propose a new criterion for the stability margin of a waling robot by using an effective mass center based on the zero moment point under unknown external force. And for a solution of an adaptive gait against external disturbances, an method of altitude control and reflexive direction control is suggested. An algorithmic search method for an optimal stride of the quadruped mehtod, the gait stability margin of a quadruped walking robot is optimized in changing its direction at any instance for and after the reflexive direction control. To verify the efficiency of the proposed approach, some simulaton results are provided.
Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV) needs autonomous flight capability to accomplish various mission objectives. For this objective, the autopilot is a key element in the UAV system design. The principal goal of autopilot is to guide the aircraft under varying external disturbances throughout the mission phases. The external disturbances include gravity effect, wind gust, and other unexpected obstacles. The gust affects the aircraft flight performance to a significant extent. UAV's low speed, light weight, and the absence of human judgment makes un predictable gust more dangerous. Autopilot design in general takes the gust effect into account to satisfy flight performance requirement. In this study..
In this paper, we examine and analyze the concept of different non-integer chaotic systems with external disturbances, uncertainties, and input non-linearities. We consider both drive and response systems with external bounded disturbances and uncertainties. We also consider non-linear control inputs. For synchronization, we introduce the adaptive sliding mode technique, in which we establish the stability of the controlled system by a control which estimates uncertainties and disturbances, and then applies a suitable sliding surface to control them. We use computer simulations to established the efficacy and adeptness of the prospective scheme.

This paper is concerned with a motion control of a manipulator under parametric uncertainties and external disturbances. The parametric uncertainties are regarded as internally generated disturbances in the manipulator. Based on this idea, we formulate a model reference control problem with desired disturbance attenuation. The solution of this control problem not only reduces the worst-case effect on tracking error due to internal and external disturbances (combined disturbances) as much as possible, but also achieve optimal tracking when perturbations are absent. In order to solve the control problem which is formulated in this paper we reduce it to a constrained minmax cost control problem. A differential game theory is used to treat this constrained minmax cost control problem. The differential game theory leads to a sufficient condition for the global solvability of the model reference control problem with desired disturbance attenuation.
The predictive control is one of the nonlinear three-axis rotation methods. The desired trace of a satellite is pre-determined, and the control inputs are designed so that the satellite follows the ´predictive´ trace. The predictive control has been adapted to the research for the three-axis attitude control. In that case, the control variables are the quaternion represented the angular rates and attitude angles of the body about the three-axes. The objective of this paper is to propose to design a predictive controller for the three-axis attitude control under external disturbances. In order to do that, this paper proposes how to construct a predictive control law including disturbances and to discern them. The basic algorithm of the existent predictive control is partially modified, and the presumption and modeling of disturbances are performed ...
The nonlinear vibration characteristics of hydrodynamic journal bearings with a circumferential groove we analyzed numerically when the external sinusoidal disturbances are given to the rotor-bearing system continuously. Furthermore, a cavitation algorithm, implementing the Jakobsson-Floberg-Olsson boundary condition, is adopted to predict cavitation regions in a fluid film more accurately than the conventional analysis. which uses the Reynolds boundary condition. It is found that the difference between linear and nonlinear analysis is much more remarkable as the amplitude of external disturbance increases, and it depends upon the excitation frequency of the external disturbance. It is also shown that the cavity region in the fluid film increases as the amplitude or excitation frequency of the external disturbance increases. The whirling center of the steady state orbit moves closer to the bearing center as the amplitude or excitation frequency of the external disturbance increases.

This paper discusses sliding made control of robot manipurators assuming that nonlinear terms, which are inertia term, Coriolis force term and centrifugal taffn, are external disturbances. We obtained the unknown parameter of its linear terms by Signal Compression Method. We propose a new control input algorithm to decrease chattering in the application of sliding mode control of manipulator whose nonlinear components are regarded as disturbances. In this experiments, we used DSP(Digital Signal Processor) controller to suppress chattering by obtaining a quick switching speed.
In this study, an adaptive control scheme with a pre-specified $H_{\infty}$ property is proposed for the tracking control of linear induction motor (LIM) drive system. Under the influence of uncertainties and external disturbances, by using nonlinear decoupling and parameter tuner, the robust performance control problem is formulated as a nonlinear $H_{\infty}$ problem and solved by a quadratic storage function. This new design method is able to track the step and several periodic commands with improved performance in face of parameter perturbations and external disturbances. Simulation and experimental results are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed adaptive $H_{\infty}$ controller.
This paper presents the characteristics of a general structured observer and presents an estimation algorithm for a system with external disturbances which are added to the input of the system. By using a disturbance model, the general structured observer can estimate the states of the system is spite of disturbances, where the system is affected from external disturbances. Also, the general structured observer can include the function of a PI observer or high gain observer by properly adjusting the observer's gain matrices. The existence condition for the observer is derived, which can be checked by the system's observability condition and the pole-zero cancellation of the system's polynomial matrix. Through a numerical example, it is verified that the proposed observer is effective estimating the system and the input disturbance.
