When the public key e and the composite number n=pq are disclosed but not the private key d in an asymmetric-key RSA, message decryption is carried out by obtaining ${\phi}(n)=(p-1)(q-1)=n+1-(p+q)$ and subsequently computing $d=e^{-1}(mod{\phi}(n))$. The most commonly used decryption algorithm is integer factorization of n/p=q or $a^2{\equiv}b^2$(mod n), a=(p+q)/2, b=(q-p)/2. But many of the RSA numbers remain unfactorable. This paper therefore applies baby-step giant-step discrete logarithm and $2^k$-ary modular exponentiation to directly obtain ${\phi}(n)$. The proposed algorithm performs a reverse baby-step and $2^k$-ary adult-step. As a results, it reduces the execution time of basic adult-step to $1/2^k$ times and the memory $m={\lceil}\sqrt{n}{\rceil}$ to l, $a^l$ > n, hence obtaining ${\phi}(n)$ by executing within l times.

In this contributions, we propose a new MSB(most significant bit) algorithm based on AOP(All One Polynomial) and two parallel semi-systolic architectures to computes $AB^2$over finite field $GF(2^m)$. The proposed architectures are based on standard basis and use the property of irreducible AOP(All One Polynomial) which is all coefficients of 1. The proposed parallel semi-systolic architecture(PSM) has the critical path of $D_{AND2^+}D_{XOR2}$ per cell and the latency of m+1. The modified parallel semi-systolic architecture(WPSM) has the critical path of $D_{XOR2}$ per cell and has the same latency with PSM. The proposed two architectures, PSM and MPSM, have a low latency and a small hardware complexity compared to the previous architectures. They can be used as a basic architecture for exponentiation, division, and inversion. Since the proposed architectures have regularity, modularity and concurrency, they are suitable for VLSI implementation. They can be used as a basic architecture for algorithms, such as the Diffie-Hellman key exchange scheme, the Digital Signature Algorithm(DSA), and the ElGamal encryption scheme which are needed exponentiation operation. The application of the algorithms can be used cryptosystem implementation based on elliptic curve.

In this paper, an implementation method of RSA exponentiator based on Radix-$2^k$ modular multiplication algorithm is presented and verified. We use Booth receding algorithm to implement Radix-$2^k$ modular multiplication and implement radix-16 modular multiplier using 2K-byte memory and CSA(carry-save adder) array - with two full adder and three half adder delays. For high speed final addition we use a reduced carry generation and propagation scheme called pseudo carry look-ahead adder. Furthermore, the optimum value of the radix is presented through the trade-off between the operating frequency and the throughput for given Silicon technology. We have verified 1,024-bit RSA processor using Altera FPGA EP2K1500E device and Samsung 0.3$\mu\textrm{m}$ technology. In case of the radix-16 modular multiplication algorithm, (n+4+1)/4 clock cycles are needed and the 1,024-bit modular exponentiation is performed in 5.38ms at 50MHz.

This paper presents a new semi- systolic architecture for $AB^2$ operation. First of all the previous architecture proposed by Lee et al. is analysed and then we present a new algorithm and it's architecture for $AB^2$ operation based on AOP (all one polynomial) to solve the shortcomings in the architecture. Proposed architecture has an efficient configuration than other previous architectures. It is useful for implementing the exponentiation architecture, which is the core operation in public-key cryptosystems.
In this paper, we propose a suitable multiplication architecture for cellular automata in a finite field $GF(2^m)$. Proposed least significant bit first multiplier is based on irreducible all one Polynomial, and has a latency of (m+1) and a critical path of $ 1-D_{AND}+1-D{XOR}$.Specially it is efficient for implementing VLSI architecture and has potential for use as a basic architecture for division, exponentiation and inverses since it is a parallel structure with regularity and modularity. Moreover our architecture can be used as a basic architecture for well-known public-key information service in $GF(2^m)$ such as Diffie-Hellman key exchange protocol, Digital Signature Algorithm and ElGamal cryptosystem.
The method of implementing a modular multiplier for Montgomery multiplication by using an adder depends on a selected adder. When using a CPA, there is a carry propagation problem. When using a CSA, it needs an additional calculation for a final result. The Multiplier using a Multi-precision CSA can solve both problems simultaneously by combining a CSA and a CPA. This paper presents an improved MP-CSA which reduces hardware resources and operation time by changing a MP-CSA's carry chain structure. Consequently, the proposed multiplier is more suitable for the module of long bit multiplication and exponentiation using a modular multiplier repeatedly.

Finite field operations have played an important role in error correcting codes and cryptosystems. Recently, the necessity of efficient computation processing is increasing for security in cyber physics systems. Therefore, efficient implementation of finite field arithmetics is more urgently needed. These operations include addition, multiplication, division and inversion. Addition is very simple and can be implemented with XOR operation. The others are somewhat more complicated than addition. Among these operations, multiplication is the most important, since time-consuming operations, such as exponentiation, division, and computing multiplicative inverse, can be performed through iterative multiplications. In this paper, we propose a multiplexer based parallel computation algorithm that performs Montgomery multiplication over finite field using redundant basis. Then we propose an efficient multiplexer based semi-systolic multiplier over finite field using redundant basis. The proposed multiplier has less area-time (AT) complexity than related multipliers. In detail, the AT complexity of the proposed multiplier is improved by approximately 19% and 65% compared to the multipliers of Kim-Han and Choi-Lee, respectively. Therefore, our multiplier is suitable for VLSI implementation and can be easily applied as the basic building block for various applications.

Recently, the straightforward CRT-RSA was shown to be broken by fault attacks through many experimental results. In this paper, we analyze the fault attacks against CRT-RSA and their countermeasures, and then propose a new fault infective method resistant to the various fault attacks on CRT-RSA. In our CRT-RSA algorithm, if an error is injected in exponentiation with modulo p or q, then the error is spreaded by fault infective computation in CRT recombination operation. Our countermeasure doesn't have extra error detection procedure based on decision tests and doesn't use public parameter such as e. Also, the computational cost is effective compared to the previous secure countermeasures.

This study presents an MSB(Most Significant Bit) Int multiplier using cellular automata, along with a new MSB first multiplication algorithm over GF($2^m$). The proposed architecture has the advantage of high regularity and a reduced latency based on combining the characteristics of a PBCA(Periodic Boundary Cellular Automata) and with the property of irreducible AOP(All One Polynomial). The proposed multiplier can be used in the effectual hardware design of exponentiation architecture for public-key cryptosystem.

In this paper, with targeting on the drawback of RSA of operation speed, a new 1024-bit RSA cryptosystem has been proposed and implemented in hardware to increase the operational speed and perform the variable-length encryption. The proposed cryptosystem mainly consists of the modular exponentiation part and the modular multiplication part. For the modular exponentiation, the RL-binary method, which performs squaring and modular multiplying in parallel, was improved, and then applied. And 4-stage CSA structure and radix-4 booth algorithm were applied to enhance the variable-length operation and reduce the number of partial product in modular multiplication arithmetic. The proposed RSA cryptosystem which can calculate at most 1024 bits at a tittle was mapped into the integrated circuit using the Hynix Phantom Cell Library for Hynix 0.35㎛ 2-Poly 4-Metal CMOS process. Also, the result of software implementation, which had been programmed prior to the hardware research, has been used to verify the operation of the hardware system. The size of the result from the hardware implementation was about 190k gate count and the operational clock frequency was 150㎒. By considering a variable-length of modulus number, the baud rate of the proposed scheme is one and half times faster than the previous works. Therefore, the proposed high speed variable-length RSA cryptosystem should be able to be used in various information security system which requires high speed operation.
