  • Marketing is a topic of growing interest to nonprofit organizational managers(for example, hospitals, museums, charities and, churches, universities and colleges) as their organizations confront new, complex marketplace problems. These organization heads(specially in university and college) are laking their first, tentative steps toward marketing, often confusing it with its advertising and selling subfunctions. A genuine marketing response has been undertaken by a relatively small number of college in america. Their approach is best described as market-oriented institutional planning. In these approach, marketing is recognized as much more then mere promotion, and indeed, the issue of promotion cannot be settled in principles until more fundamental issues are resolved. According to market-oriented institutional planning customer satisfaction is one of the most important concept in university(college) marketing. Therefore, this study reviews literatures about university(college) marketing and general customer satisfaction. The literature study suggests some research hypotheses about customer satisfaction in college. Next, these hypotheses are tested empirically using ${\chi}^2-test$, multiple linear regression analysis and t-test. The research results worth explorative study on the customer satisfaction in the college.

  • This paper is structured into three main parts and a conclusion. The main section provide definitions of efficiency, effectiveness and performance in terms of the distribution channel, followed by a review of related performance measurement, before discussing difficulties of measurement. According to the theoretical approach, it appears that key theroretical issues are centered around customer service, logistics excellence, time compression, the use of IT, and a move towards integrated logistics. The empirical approach shows that in the past, various financial performance indicators were regarded as relevant management information. However, today, management needs additional performance indicators. Therefore, external assessments of effectiveness must be performed to measure customers' satisfaction with the physical flow of product through the distribution channel network. So, what is needed is to take previous normative and explorative research and progress through a framework by developing valid measures of distribution channel's effectiveness and efficiency, and identifying research methodologies suited to the data collection requirements.

  • When information professionals deal with other disciplines in the course of digital humanities projects, they often assume that they are dealing with 'needful users' who have an 'information gap' to fill. This paper argues that the traditional view that information/knowledge is transferred from an information specialist donor to a domain specialist receiver is no longer appropriate in the digital humanities context, where the gap-and-search (or gap-and-filler) approach to information has given way to more direct, explorative engagement with information. The paper asks whether information science and the practising profession are ready for this paradigm shift and examines information science conservatism in two common collaboration scenarios, library support and digital development. It is shown that information science theory still assumes a traditional donor role in both scenarios. How information scientists deal with conservatism in practice is discussed in the example of the Prior project, in which the information science team exerted an ambiguous, hybrid approach with both conservative and non-conservative elements. Finally, two rather hypothetical answers are offered to the question of how information professionals should approach scholarly collaboration in the digital humanities context, where users have ceased to be supplicants. From a purely pragmatic perspective, information scientists need to shift their focus from information needs to research practices and the implications of these practices for digital information systems. More fundamentally, the emergence of digital humanities challenges information professionals to transform information systems designed for searching into digital objects that can be explored more freely by the digital humanities community.

  • We conducted an explorative study about the types of APEC government's policies for SME(Small and Medium Enterprise) informatization. Informatization means the process whereby information and communication technologies shape cultural and civic discourse. By using Qualitative study methods such as interviews and case studies, we identified the influential factors for the effectiveness of government policies on SME's informatization. Based on the implementation levels of these factors, we also developed the typology of government policies for SME informatization. Our conclusion ends up with the suggestion of a contingency approach for SME informatization of underdeveloped and developing countries.

  • In an attempt to investigate the psycho-social environment of, and to identify contributing factors to asthma, an explorative study was designed. An in-depth interviews of thirteen mothers nth asthmatic children on their child-rearing experiences were carried out from May through October, 1992. Data were gathered and analysed concurrently. The child-rearing experiences were classified into five categories; perceiving the attributes of, perceiving the health status of, affective interactions with, socialization of, and health management of asthmatic children. Thus, a comprehensive approach for the care of asthmatic children, and studies of family on multi-dimensional contributing factors on asthma are strongly recommended.

  • We present a latent variable model-based approach to the analysis of gene expression patterns, coupled with topographic clustering. Aspect model, a latent variable model for dyadic data, is applied to extract latent patterns underlying complex variations of gene expression levels. Then a topographic clustering is performed to find coherent groups of genes, based on the extracted latent patterns as well as individual gene expression behaviors. Applied to cell cycleregulated genes of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, the proposed method could discover biologically meaningful patterns related with characteristic expression behavior in particular cell cycle phases. In addition, the display of the variation in the composition of these latent patterns on the cluster map provided more facilitated interpretation of the resulting cluster structure. From this, we argue that latent variable models, coupled with topographic clustering, are a promising tool for explorative analysis of gene expression data.

  • This study aims to present explicit findings from an internal perspective, namely the interaction patterns of marketing communication between pentahelix elements and testing the expectations of tourists towards tourism activities through a simulation model between variables. This study is divided into two methods of analysis, namely qualitative explorative, where the study aims to invest in communication patterns and patterns of interaction between pentahelix stakeholders in Sitiwinangun Tourism Village, West Java, Indonesia with involve 17 informants who came from pentahelix elements (Government, academics, community, business and media). Second, quantitative method to measure the extent of effectiveness rather than collaboration activities and the role of marketing communication to tourist satisfaction is done by an analytical approach involving 30 tourists through customer satisfaction surveys. The results of this study illustrate that the involvement of each pentahelix element has not been maximized. The pattern of interaction and communication between elements also shows the gap between interests, expectations, and reality. This study provides a real picture that to realize a tourism program that is profitable, holistic, and sustainable requires collaboration that is wrapped with transparent and interactive communication patterns. The marketing communication concept approach combined with collaboration theory between stakeholders can be useful for sustainable tourism.

  • The purpose of the study is to understand the types and the features of the health behavior of middle-aged women in the Middle East using Q-methodology. A survey was carried out during the period from the 1st of October to the 30th of December, 2006. Data for thirty five (35) women out of forty-nine (49) were analyzed through Principal Component Analysis and WRAP (Weighted Rotational Analytical Procedure). Analysis results showed that the group was divided into four types: Type I is health management; Type II is social activity; Type III is exercise orientation; and Type IV is religious dependency. Types I, II, and III were in a positive correlation with one another, and Type IV was not correlated with the other types. Subjective perception on the health behavior of middle-aged women in the Middle East (Jordan) was investigated and compared with middle-aged Korean women. The results of this study may provide more effective ways to improve the condition of health management and to promote the quality of life.
