Existing works to measure readers' understanding of interactive e-books have mainly employed quantitative approach which are difficult to get direct interpretation of the evaluation results. Attentive to interactive, visual and narrative features, this paper proposes a new method for measuring readers' engagement by making them to reconstitute a storyboard. Experimenting with real readers, we validated that this method could give a qualitative assessment that allows finding out problematic narrative phases and the adequacy of interaction formation.

The importance of education is greatly emphasized in the IT era. However, teachers have to deal with teaching work as well as increasing non-educationalchores. One of those chores is student counseling. Nowadays, teachers have considerable difficulty in consulting students because they cannot visit their home and don't have enough information on students. Furthermore, students are not willing to participate in school counseling since they think school counseling is not of much help and is just time-consuming. Most of the current school counseling is focused on matters related to entrance into a school of higher grade such as choice of college. But, students need counseling on matters regarding their ordinary life. This paper suggests a web-based student-counseling system that may solve this problem. The paper identifies core requirements for the web-based student-counseling system, discusses its design and implementation and shows it is more effective than the current ordinary school counseling by experimenting on a group of students with this system.

In this paper, a unified regenerative inverter and control algorithm are proposed in order to perform regenerative action and active power filter action. While the regenerative mode of traction, it works as regenerative inverter to reduce a excessive power of DC bus line and the powering mode of the traction, it works as active power filter to compensate ac current distortion, power factor, and voltage unbalance. In the paper, a regeneration inverter used PWM DC/AC inverter algorithm. And an active power filter used p-q theory. We are carrying out a mode analysis of DC traction system similar to actual system with MG-set and experimenting with prototype model. Through the simulation and experiment, we were proving the regeneration inverter operation which suggested in this paper.

The performance of an active power filter(APF) depends on the inverter characteristic, the control method, and the accuracy of reference signal generator. The accuracy of reference generator is the most critical item to determine the performance of active power filter. This paper introduces a novel reference signal generator composed of improved adaptive predictive filter. The performance of proposed reference signal generator was first verified through a simulation with MATLAB. Furthermore, the application of feasibility was evaluated through experimenting with a single-phase APF prototype based on the proposed reference generator, which was implemented using the TMS320C31 floating-point signal processor. Both simulations and experimental results confirm that our reference signal generator can be used successfully in practical active power filters.

The main purpose of this study is to investigate the Korean youths' impressions of the scientist. The concept of impression is assumed to reflect our significant view of an object better than that of image. That is, the basic assumption is that we tend to behave toward an object, based on its impression which is conceived to be "significant". In late August and early September 2002, a national survey for 1,204 youth (406 for 5th grad; 381 for 8th grade; and 417 for 11th grade) was conducted to find the Korean youths' impressions of the scientist. Our major finding is that the Korean youths' most impressions of the scientist were re his or her activities such as inventing, experimenting, researching, etc. And the major sources of those impressions were found to be television, book, and class. Other findings were about youths' impressions of the science teacher and opinions of the scientist as a profession. Finally, some policy-related implications based on survey results were presented at the end.

According of the development and spread of CAD/CAM, a number of prostheses we have done had been replaced. Dental technicians have a difficulty reproducing natural color when producing these zirconia crowns. Difficulty reproducing natural color when producing these zirconia crowns. In my case, in the beginning of experimenting with zirconia, I had a hard time dealing with zirconia and I have tried solve these problems. Therefore, I would like to share Ko's coloring technique made of my effort with you.

The textbook is a predominant feature of most classrooms. Because the textbook is an important aspect of educational experience, it is essential that the content of the texts be carefully scrutinized. The purpose of this study was to examine the visual portrayal of gender groups in elementary $"Chay{\tilde{o}}n"$ textbooks developed by the 6th National Science Curriculum. An instrument was developed to analyze the nature and type of activity engaged in by these groups as well as how often members of these groups were portrayed. Data were collected from 8 elementary $"Chay{\tilde{o}}n"$ textbooks. The results show the following two different features. While the elementary $"Chay{\tilde{o}}n"$ textbooks do not show gender-biases in representing science learning activities such as observing, experimenting, measuring, they show distinct gender-stereotyped roles and activities. It is expected that the results of this study are considered in developing the new elementary "Science" textbooks which show gender-fairness.

We developed a model of NC controller with IBM-PC as a host cpu and integlligent NC servo controller for 2 axes that can be expaned to 4 axes. Basic conceptions, including hardware structure design, servo controller design, communication protocol, and interpolation hardware design was already publicated on '87 KIEE conference. Following this, we focussed on the emulation of tyhe controller with X-Y table as complete NC machine experimenting some drawings made by NC code program that can be edited and executed in automatic on single step mode. In addition we designed the M.S.T functions with PLC and tested for M-function timing. Finally, we designed NC interface to fit with M-function output and we contructed total system of NC controller with IBM PC host with the result of successful development of new NC model.

The recent technological and industrial revolution dictates a new approach in constructing Korean Information Infrastructure. Lacking past data on the newly emerging markets, econometrics methodologies cannot accurately forecast future path of advanced networks, let alone dynamic impacts of public policies. In this paper, we have built a system dynamics model of the Korean Information Infrastructure and simulated diverse policy measures including market integration and government initiative in investment for experimenting their effectiveness. The most counterintuitive result of our research is that the market integration policy will facilitate CATV networks at an early stage until the year 2010, but will result in a diminished market size in the long run. With the system dynamics approach, we can enhance our understanding of the complex policy systems and get valuable insights through learning by modeling and simulation.

Objectives : We supposed that abdominal muscles are related to chronic cough, because abdominal pressure and respiratory muscles are influenced by abdominal muscle function. We have evaluated the effect of myofacial releasing of abdominal muscles with oriental medical treatment by experimenting two patients suffering from chronic cough. Methods : One patient was treated with acupuncture therapy and muscle stretching exercise for myofacial releasing of abdominal muscle. The other patient was treated with hot pack therapy and abdominal respiration training for myofacial releasing of abdominal muscle. Results and Conclusions : After oriental medical treatment of abdominal muscles in two cases, We figured out that the patients were on the mend. These results suggest that myofacial releasing of abdominal muscles using oriental medical treatment was effective in improving chronic cough.
