  • A numerical model to analyze dam break flows has been developed based on approximate Riemann solver. The governing equations of the model are the nonlinear shallow-water equations. The governing equations are discretized explicitly by using finite volume method and the numerical flux are reconstructed with weighted averaged flux (WAF) method. The developed model is verified. The first verification problem is about idealized dam break flow on wet and dry beds. The second problem is about experimental data of dam break flow. From the results of the verifications, very good agreements have been observed

  • High level random vibration environments induced while launching of spacecraft can damage sensitive electronic equipment, unless the equipment is properly packaged. Thus careful consideration on the launch environment, especially for high level random vibration, is required in the design stage of electronic equipment of spacecraft. This paper describes the development process of Solar Array Regulator for KOMPAT-2, which is designed and tested by Korean engineers. Both analytical and experimental techniques are introduced in this paper.

  • The electrooptical characteristics of OMI (optical mode interference) cell were investigated as the application for LC shutters. The optical responses under dynamic driving were simulated by solving the Ericksen-Leslie hydrodynamic equations numerically. The prototypes were made accordingly for verification. The experimental data show good coincidence with the simulation results.

  • For the purpose of external and internal morphological study on the origin of Folium, writing on herbolagy have been thoroughly reviewed. The object herb medicine(9 kinds) is Lophatheri Folium(Herba), Isatidis Folium, Eoriobotryae Folium, Mori Folium, Perillae Folium, Artemisiae argi Folium, Phyllostachys Folium, Clerodendri Folium, Biotae Folium(Cacumen). After this study, additional experimental verification is required as a matter of fact. As comparison materials, this thesis will be utilized.

  • The prediction of effective properties of heterogeneous material like concrete is of primary importance in design or analysis. This paper os about micromechanice-based evaluation of elastic moduli of concretes considering composite material behavior. In this study, micromechanixe-based schemes for the effective elastic modui of the lightweight foamed concrete and the normal concrete are proposed based on averaging techniques using a single-layered inclusion model and a multi-phase and multi-layered inclusion model. respectively, For the verification's sake, elastic moduli evaluated in this study are compared with experimental data and results by existing formula.

  • This paper deals with the verification of the new truss model that has been conceptually derived and formulated in preceding research. Since the model includes the arch $coefficient-\alpha$, the characteristics of this coefficient are examined, and it appears that the $coefficient-\alpha$ is a function of a/d, $\rho$ and $\rho_v$. The arch $coefficient-\alpha$ is applied to the test specimens available in literatures, and the predicted values are shown to be in excellent agreement with the experimental results.

  • This study was concerned, after the oxide films(50 [.angs.]) were grown in a furnace and the MOS capacitor fabricated, with experimental comparison and verification about the Interference Effect of Electronic Waves in the ultra thin oxide/silicon interface. The average error was about 0.8404[%] in n'gate/p-sub and about 0.2991[%] in p$^{+}$gate/p-sub. Therefore, it was predicted that the Interference Effect of Electronic Waves can overcome somewhat according to the gate polarity.

  • A mathematical model was developed to predict traction forces of rigid wheels. The modeling was based on the energy principle that the total energy delivered to a driving wheel is equal to the works done by the useful traction force and motion resistance of that wheel. The effect of the wheel slippage was also included in the modeling. Verification of the proposed model was provided by comparing the tractive coefficients predicted by the model to those obtained experimentally at the in-door soil bin tests. The model predictions were found to be a reasonable agreement with the experimental results.
