Robustness Evaluation of Tactical Network based on SNA

  • Network robustness is one of the most important characteristics needed as the network. Over the military tactical communication network, robustness is a key function for maintaining attack phase constantly. Tactical Information Communication Network, called TICN, has mixed characteristics of lattice- and tree-type network topology, which looks somewhat weak in the viewpoint of network robustness. In this paper, we search articulation points and bridges in a current Tactical Information Communication Network using graph theory. To improve the weak points empirically searched, we try to add links to create the concrete network and then observe the change of network-based verification values through diminishing nodes. With these themes, we evaluate the generated networks through SNA techniques. Experimental results show that the generated networks' robustness is improved compared with current network structure.

Numerical study on the structural performance of corrugated low yield point steel plate shear walls with circular openings

  • Corrugated steel plate shear wall (CSPSW) as an innovative lateral load resisting system provides various advantages in comparison with the flat steel plate shear wall, including remarkable in-plane and out-of-plane stiffnesses and stability, greater elastic shear buckling stress, increasing the amount of cumulative dissipated energy and maintaining efficiency even in large story drifts. Employment of low yield point (LYP) steel web plate in steel shear walls can dramatically improve their structural performance and prevent early stage instability of the panels. This paper presents a comprehensive structural performance assessment of corrugated low yield point steel plate shear walls having circular openings located in different positions. Accordingly, following experimental verification of CSPSW finite element models, several trapezoidally horizontal CSPSW (H-CSPSW) models having LYP steel web plates as well as circular openings (for ducts) perforated in various locations have been developed to explore their hysteresis behavior, cumulative dissipated energy, lateral stiffness, and ultimate strength under cyclic loading. Obtained results reveal that the rehabilitation of damaged steel shear walls using corrugated LYP steel web plate can enhance their structural performance. Furthermore, choosing a suitable location for the circular opening regarding the design purpose paves the way for the achievement of the shear wall's optimal performance.

  • 홍수 시 하천을 따라 유하되는 유송잡물은 구조물에 집적을 통해 유수의 흐름을 방해하고 구조물 주변의 지반을 약화시키거나 월류로 인한 심각한 피해를 야기 시킨다. 교량의 경우 유송잡물의 집적은 교각의 항력을 증가시켜 전도파괴를 유발시킬 수 있으며, 교각주변 흐름교란을 통한 하상 세굴로 인해 기초부를 파괴시키기도 한다. 또한 통수단면적 증가로 인해 높아진 수위는 제방월류로 인해 재산 및 인명피해를 유발하기도 한다. 본 연구는 이러한 유송잡물의 집적을 억제시키는 저감시설물을 대상으로 연구를 수행하고자 한다. 유송잡물 저감시설 중 우회말뚝을 대상으로 수리모형실험을 수행하고 실규모 실험을 통해 저감효과를 검토하였다. 우회말뚝은 교각 전면부에 상류방향으로 이격되어 설치되는 말뚝형태의 구조물로 유송잡물의 우회를 통해 교각에 집적을 저감하는 목적으로 설치된다. 본 연구에서는 수리실험 및 실규모실험을 통해 우회말뚝의 저감능력 검토를 수행하였으며, 1개의 말뚝을 대상으로 교각과의 이격거리와의 관계를 검토하고자 하였다. 수리모형실험의 결과 유송잡물의 길이가 경간장의 100% 일 경우 저감시설이 없을 경우 교각에 87.6% 집적이 발생하였으나 말뚝이 설치되었을 경우 교각에 직접적으로 집적되는 유송잡물은 없으며 31.7% 유송잡물은 우회말뚝에 집적되는 것으로 나타났다. 실규모 실험의 경우 우회말뚝이 없는 경우 집적률은 60%의 집적이 이루어졌으나 우회말뚝을 설치한 경우 10%의 집적률로 나타났다. 우회 말뚝설치에 따른 저감효과는 발생하였으나 이격거리에 대한 저감능력의 차이는 없는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 우회말뚝의 이격거리가 길어질수록 말뚝주변에서 회전되어진 유송잡물이 교각에 간헐적으로 집적되는 현상이 관측되었다. 따라서 말뚝의 위치를 선정하기 위해서는 유송잡물의 길이를 고려하여 설치하는 것이 유리할 것으로 판단된다.

  • This paper is to analyze the efficiency of power consumption in logistic systems that are based on self-driving roller conveyors by the simulation technology. The improvement of the efficiency brings advantages for reducing greenhouse gas emission and logistics costs. A self-driving roller conveyor is operated only when products are loaded on itself. Thus, the self-driving roller conveyor systems consume less electric power than continuous-driving roller conveyor systems. In this paper, we design a DEVS (Discrete-Event based System) based simulation model and construct self-driving roller and continuous-driving roller conveyor models. For the verification and validation of the designed simulation system and conveyor models, we model a corresponding logistic model for the experimental environment and compare between the model and a real system. The main objective of this paper is to describe the power consumption advantage of self-driving roller conveyor based logistic systems using a simulation method.

Theoretical Analysis of Linear Maneuvering Coefficients with Water Depth Effect (수심의 영향을 고려한 선형(線形) 조종성 계수의 이론적 해석)

  • Theoretical calculations are carried out for the estimation of linear maneuvering coefficients of a ship moving in shallow water region. Hydrodynamic forces and moments acting on a maneuvering ship are modelled based on a slender body theory, from which integro-differential equation for the unknown inner stream velocity is derived. Numerical algorithms fur solving this equation are described in detail. By considering water depth effects in the mathematical model, variations of maneuvering coefficients with water depth are studied. Programs are developed according to this method and calculations are done for Mariner, Series 60 and Wigley hull forms. For the verification of the programs, calculated results are compared with some analytic solutions and with published experimental results, which show good agreements in spite of many assumptions included in the mathematical model. It is expected that this method can be used as a preliminary tool for the estimation of maneuverability coefficients of a ship in shallow water region at its initial design stage.

  • If a broken blade in the aircraft engine penetrates the casing and ejects outside the aircraft, it will impact the fuselage, threatening the safety of the passengers. Thus, the development of a engine case should be certified for stability evaluation by the Aviation Administration. In this paper, we investigated the requirements and development technology for the containment certification of the engine casing necessary for the independent engine development in the country. An experimental/analytical method has been identified to summarize the contact safety requirements presented by the U.S. and European aviation agencies to verify the containment of debris in the casing corresponding to this certification. Also, we analyzed recent research on the containment casing and verification methods in casing development.

Real-time Parallel Processing Simulator for Modeling Portable Missile System and Performance Analysis (휴대용 유도탄 체계의 모델링과 성능분석을 위한 실시간 병렬처리 시뮬레이터)

  • RIn this paper. we describe real-time parallel processing simulator developed for the use of performance analysis of rolling missiles. The real-time parallel processing simulator developed here consists of seeker emulator generating infrared image signal on aircraft, real-time computer, host computer, system unit, and actual equipments such as auto-pilot processor and seeker processor. Software is developed according to the design requirements of mathematic model, 6 degree-of-freedom module, aerodynamic module which are resided in real-time computer. and graphic user interface program resided in host computer. The real-time computer consists of six TI C-40 processors connected in parallel. The seeker emulator is designed by using analog circuits coupled with mechanical equipments. The system unit provides interface function to match impedance between the components and processes very small electrical signals. Also real launch unit of missiles is interfaced to simulator through system unit. In order to use the real-time parallel processing simulator developed here as a performance analysis equipment for rolling missiles, we perform verification test through experimental results in the field.

The Effect of Team-based Learning Activity on College Students' Character Education (팀 기반 학습활동이 대학생의 인성교육에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to provide a solution through a methodological approach so that character education can be naturally acquired in team-based learning activities. In the spring semester of 2021, a total of 69 college students in two groups were studied, and as a result of the study, the total score of character education virtues in the post-test was greatly improved in the experimental group (p<.001). The correlation between sub-items of team-based learning and pre and post-test results for character sub-items, self-regulation, consideration, communication, self-esteem, and responsibility, were statistically significant. This study shows character education through team-based learning had positive results. However, future research through a wider range of subjects is needed, and various teaching methods are being applied to propose verification of the effectiveness of character education.

Generation of Design Time History Complying With Japanese Seismic Design Standards for Nuclear Power Plants (일본 원전 내진설계 기술기준을 적용한 모의지진파(가속 도시간이력) 작성)

  • Seismic designs for Korean nuclear power plants (NPPs) under earthquakes' design basis are noticed due to the recent earthquake events in Korea and Japan. Japan has developed the technologies and experiences of the NPPs through theoretical research and experimental verification with extensively accumulated measurement data. This paper describes the main features of the design-time history complying with the Japanese seismic design standard. Proper seed motions in the earthquake catalog are used to generate one set of design time histories. A magnitude and epicentral distance specify the amplitude envelope function configuring the shape of the earthquake. Cumulative velocity response spectral values of the design time histories are compared and checked to the target response spectra. Spectral accelerations of the time histories and the multiple-damping target response spectra are also checked to exceed. The generated design time histories are input to the reactor building seismic analyses with fixed-base boundary conditions to calculate the seismic responses. Another set of design time histories is generated to comply with Korean seismic design procedures for NPPs and used for seismic input motions to the same reactor containment building seismic analyses. The responses at the dome apex of the building are compared and analyzed. The generated design time histories will be also applied to subsequent seismic analyses of other Korean standard NPP structures.

Measurement-based LEEFI Modeling and Experimental Verification for Predicting Firing Waveform of an ESAD (ESAD의 기폭 파형 예측을 위한 측정기반 LEEFI 모델링 및 검증)

  • In this paper, we propose measurement based numerical resistivity model for low energy exploding foil initiator (LEEFI) of electronic safety and arming device(ESAD). A resistivity model describes a behavior of variable resistance in LEEFI by firing current. The previous resistivity model was based on high energy detonator applications as explosive bridge wire and exploding foil initiator. Therefore, to estimate the voltage, current, and burst time of LEEFI, a resistivity model suitable for LEEFI is needed. For the modeling of resistivity of LEEFI, we propose a specific action based equation which represents a behavior of LEEFI when firing current is applied. To verify the proposed model, we analyze a firing current transmission path to obtain parasitic impedance. We experimentally verify that the proposed resistivity model offers precise estimation for the behavior of variable resistance in LEEFI.
