  • For the Externally bonded FRP systems, flexural design method is studied focusing on the reinforcement layer of the carbon fiber sheets. As the FRP layer is added, strengthening rate increases, but not proportionally as the FRP layer increases. This is reflected in the design formula appropriately by the bond cofficients from the added layers. As the number of FRP layer increases, the stress reinforcement and FRP sheet decreases, and it generally corresponds to the decrease rate of member flexural strength. This phenomenon is appearing indentically in a design formula and experimental result. The rate of $M_{test}$ and $M_n$ is 1.19 and it is estimated as safety factor which is the reduction factor, ${\psi}_f = 0.85$.

  • Aerodynamic forces of vortex-induced vibration and galloping are going to be coupled when their onset velocities are close to each other, which will induce the cross-wind amplitudes of the structures increased continuously with ever-increasing wind velocities. The main purpose of the present work is going to propose an empirical formula to predict the response amplitude of VIV-galloping interaction. Firstly, two typical mathematical models for the coupled oscillations, i.e., Tamura & Shimada model and Parkinson & Corless model are comparatively summarized. Then, the key parameter affecting response amplitude is determined through comparative numerical simulations with Tamura & Shimada model. For rectangular cylinders with the side ratio from 0.5 to 2.5, which are actually prone to develop the VIV and galloping induced interaction responses, an empirical amplitude prediction formula is proposed after regression analysis on comprehensively collected experimental data with the predetermined key parameter.

  • The buckling is one of the major two nonlinear problems. One is the material non-linearity and other is the geometrical nonlinear. Material non-linearity has occurred when the buckling stress of material exceeded the yield stress of material. The material non-linearity must be taken into account when the buckling analysis of thick plate is performed. In this study, inelastic modulus that is used to calculate the buckling strength is taken to account for the material non-linearity. The results from experiments are used to formulate the semi-theoretical formula. The analysis results generated by the use of semi-theoretical formula are close to the experimental data.

  • An element of Pure Weld Metal(PWM) is important factor to understand the Flux's conduct in Submerged Arc Welding(SAW). To get the element of PWM, pile-up welding over than 10 layers have been used in the past. But, it took a long time to analyze the elements of PWM in this method. Therefore, in this study, instead of pile-up welding over than 10 layers, one pass bead welding is used to predict an element of PWM using mathematical formula which got to be derived. As a results that applied the formula, there was no differences between theoretical and experimental value except the element Mn and Si.

  • The objective of this paper is to investigate the structural behavior of concrete filled steel tubular columns subjected to eccentric load. With experiment and analytical study, the buckling behavior of columns is investigated and compared with each other to the view of main parameters. Appling foreign standards in the experimental results, we suggested new strength formula of concrete-filled steel tubular columns. The parameters are slenderness, eccentric ratio, and concrete filled or not. The experiment are carried out by simple loading.

  • The MA8 alloy (formula Mg-Mn-Се) has been shown to have greater corrosion stability than the VMD10 magnesium alloy (formula Mg-Zn-Zr-Y) in chloride-containing solutions by Scanning Vibrating Electrode Technique (SVET) and by optical microscopy, gravimetry, and volumetry. It has been established that the crucial factor for the corrosion activity of these samples is the occurrence of microgalvanic coupling at the sample surface. The peculiarities of the kinetics and mechanism of the corrosion in the local heterogeneous regions of the magnesium alloy surface were investigated by localized electrochemical techniques. The stages of the corrosion process in artificial defects in the coating obtained by plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) at the surface of the MA8 magnesium alloy were also studied. The analysis of the experimental data enabled us to determine that the corrosion process in the defect zone develops predominantly at the magnesium/coating interface. Based on the measurements of the corrosion rate of the samples with PEO and composite polymer-containing coatings, the best anticorrosion properties were displayed by the composite polymer-containing coatings.

  • As a first phase of plasma study intended for semiconductor processing research, we have studied the discharge phenomena. In particular, we have obtained a specific formula for the breakdown voltage as a function of the neutral state pressure of reactive gases. Our experimental results with H2,O2,Ar,CF4 seem ro verify this formula. In addition we find the voltage levels for various gases in the descending order of CF4>O2=Ar>H2 in high pressure region, while H2>CF4>O2>Ar in low pressure region. When H2 and CF4 were mixed, we observe the overall voltage dominated by the gas with lower breakdown volotage.

  • The more sophisticated patterns of propagation model is presented in this paper, which includes three different source characteristics. The spherical, cosine and dipole radiation characteristics compared and sound event level and the maximum sound level are calculated by experiment and calculation. It is shown that patterns of propagation has dipole characteristics for low speed range(below about 150km/h) at electric multiple system. We know that push-pull high speed system(maximum speed: 300km/h) has cosine characteristics of noise propagation. For this purpose, We conduct the experiment of noise and know the empirical formula of noise level and radiation coefficient K. This model of simulation is conducted through point source array model at wheel/rail contact point by using program and experimental formula. We can guess prediction of profile, flat and wear of wheel by above modeling in near field.

  • The quadratic force constants of heteronuclear diatomic molecules, LiH, BeH, BH, CH, NH and OH are evaluated by use of the one center function of Bishop et. al. The master formula on which the computation is based was suggested by the previous work of one of the present authors. The results are in good agreement with the experimental values. It is found that around the nucleus of the atom located in the close vicinity of the expansion center of the one center function, the electronic distribution is relatively unrealistic, and the suggested formula would lead an erroneous result when one takes the origin of variables of $P_2(cos{\theta})/r_3$ at the atomic nucleus.

  • In this paper, we design the microcontroller-based optimal lead angle control system on the basis of the presented maximum average torque formula of the permanent-type stepping motor with respect to the inductance. We confirm that optimal lead angle enlarges the operating range twice as much and increases the torque over all of the operating range in the case of presented formula as well as experimental results.
