Concrete filled steel tubular columns (CFT) are widely used in civil engineering works, especially in large scale of works because of high strength, deformation, toughness and so on. On the other hand, as a kind of strengthening measure for seriously damaged reinforced concrete piers of viaduct in Hansin-Awaji earthquake of Japan in 1995, reinforced concrete piers were wrapped with steel plate. Then, a new kind of structure appeared, that is, reinforced concrete filled steel tubular column (RCFT). In this paper, compression test and bending-shearing test on RCFT are carried out. The main parameters of experiments are (1) strength of concrete, (2) steel tube with or without rib, (3) width-thickness ratio and (4) arrangement of reinforcing bars. According to the experimental results, the effect of parameters on mechanical characteristics of RCFT is analyzed clearly. At the same time, strength evaluation formula for RCFT column is proposed and tested by experimental results and existed recommendations (AIJ 1997). The strength calculated by the proposal formula is in good agreement with test result. As a result, the proposed evaluation formula can evaluate the strength of RCFT column properly.
Flame height calculation in a forest fire is a crucial part of predicting horizontal or vertical flame spread flared by radiation heat transfer. Flame height, which is one of the flame characteristics, can be estimated by the average height of luminous flame. This research relied on flame height observation test on P. densiflora surface fuel bed, which are surface combustibles in a forest, and calorimeter to measure Heat Release Rate, thus produced $H_f=0.027(\dot{Q'})^{2/3}$, flame height calculation equation for surface fuel. The research did not take into consideration such conditions as external velocity, slope and other variables that could affect flame height. According to comparison among experiment results, calculation results of the above formula and those of existing Heskestad formula (1998), it was found that standard error in fallen pine needles between experimental results and calculation results of the above formula amounts to 0.08, whereas standard error in same plant between experimental results and calculation results of existing Heskestad formula amounts to 0.23.

This study evaluates behavior of the Y-type perfobond rib shear connector proposed by Kim et al. (2013). In addition, an empirical shear resistance formula is developed based on push-out tests. Various types of the proposed Y-type perfobond rib shear connectors are examined to evaluate the effects of design variables such as concrete strength, number of transverse rebars, and thickness of rib. It is verified that higher concrete strength increases shear resistance but decreases ductility. Placing transverse rebars significantly increases both the shear resistance and ductility. As the thickness of the ribs increases, the shear resistance increases but the ductility decreases. The experimental results indicate that a Y-type perfobond rib shear connector has higher shear resistance and ductility than the conventional stud shear connector. The effects of the end bearing resistance, resistance by transverse rebars, concrete dowel resistance by holes, and concrete dowel resistance by Y-shape ribs on the shear resistance are estimated empirically based on the push-out test results and the additional push-out test results by Kim et al. (2013). An empirical shear resistance formula is suggested to estimate the shear resistance of a Y-type perfobond shear connector for design purposes. The newly developed shear resistance formula is in reasonable agreement with the experimental results because the average ratio of measured shear resistance to estimated shear resistance is 1.024.

In this paper, the I-resistance curve of low-carbon steel with 3 mm thickness was investigated for various crack ratios. The experiments were carried out for the center cracked tension (CCT) specimen with about 50 mm width on an instron machine. The plane stress fracture toughness obtained by the Simpson's formula was Ii. = 24.96 kgffmm. Simpson's formula which considers crack growth in obtaining J integral showed more conservative lin than Rice's and Sumpter's. For materials that may be approximated by the Ramberg and Osgood stress strain law, the relevant crack parameters like the J integral, load line displacement are approximately normalized. Crack driving forces in terms of the I integral are computed for low-carbon steel CCT specimen using the above estimation scheme. Comparison of the prediction with actual experimental measurements by Simpson's formula showed good agreement for several different sized specimen.
In this paper a design formula has been proposed to predict the residual strength of damaged tubulars subjected to combined axial copression, hydrostatic pressure and end bending loadings. A theoretical analysis method was employed to calculate the residual strengths, in which the geometric configuration of damaged tubulars is realistically described using empirically derived equations. The predictions using this method have been compared with relevent experimental results to demonstrate their validity and accuracy. A rigorous parametric study has been conducted using the method, and then a design formula has been derived based upon the parametric study results.

It is proposed in this paper the practical load carrying capacity formula for web crippling in trapezoidal sheeting (deckplate). The parameter functions are derived by investigation of the major parameters influencing of load carrying capacity based on the existing theoretical research with experiment analogical interpretation model. The simple strength formula is proposed in analytic comparison of each parameters with the existing experimental data. From statistical evaluations due to Annex Z of Eurocode 3 the partial safety resistance factors ${\gamma}_M$ are calculated and compared with the target value of 1.1.
This paper presents results for the calculation of transport properties of noble gases (He, Ne, Ar, Kr, and Xe) at 273.15 K and 1.00 atm using equilibrium molecular dynamics (EMD) simulations through a Lennard-Jones (LJ) intermolecular potential. We have utilized the revised Green-Kubo formulas for the stress (SAC) and the heat-flux auto-correlation (HFAC) functions to estimate the viscosities (${\eta}$) and thermal conductivities (${\lambda}$) of noble gases. The original Green-Kubo formula was employed for diffusion coefficients (D). The results for transport properties (D, ${\eta}$, and ${\lambda}$) of noble gases at 273.15 and 1.00 atm obtained from our EMD simulations are in a good agreement with the rigorous results of the kinetic theory and the experimental data. The radial distribution functions, mean square displacements, and velocity auto-correlation functions of noble gases are remarkably different from those of liquid argon at 94.4 K and 1.374 $g/cm^3$.

In this paper, the general formula of disparity estimation based on Bayesian Maximum A Posteriori (MAP) algorithm is derived and implemented with simplified probabilistic models. The probabilistic models are independence and similarity among the neighboring disparities in the configuration. The formula is the generalized probabilistic diffusion equation based on Bayesian model, and can be implemented into the some different forms corresponding to the probabilistic models in the disparity neighborhood system or configuration. And, we proposed new probabilistic models in order to simplify the joint probability distribution of disparities in the configuration. According to the experimental results, the proposed algorithm outperformed the other ones, such as sum of swuared difference(SSD) based algorithm and Scharstein's method. We canconclude that the derived formular generalizes the probabilistic diffusion based on Bayesian MAP algorithm for disparity estimation, and the propsoed probabilistic models are reasonable and approximate the pure joint probability distribution very well with decreasing the computations to 0.01% of the generalized formula.
Changes in polarization and thermal expansion coefficients during temperature increase of a poled lead zirconate titanate (PZT) cube specimen switched by an electric field at room temperature are measured. The measured data are analyzed to construct governing differential equations for polarization and strain changes. By solving the differential equations, an experimental formula for the high temperature behavior of ferroelectric materials is obtained. It is found that the predictions by the formula are in good agreement with measures. From the viewpoint of macroscopic remnant state variables, it appears that the processes of electric field-induced switching at different temperatures are identical and independent of temperature between $20^{\circ}C$ and $110^{\circ}C$.
