Purpose: This study aimed to identify the effects of a direct breastfeeding program for premature infants in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs). Methods: This quasi-experimental study was conducted during August 2016 to April 2017. Sixty mothers of premature infants were assigned to the experimental (n = 31) or control groups (n = 29). The program was comprised of breastfeeding education and direct breastfeeding support. The experimental and control groups were provided with education and counseling on breastfeeding at the time of admission and discharge. In the experimental group, the mothers initiated oral feeding with direct breastfeeding and engaged in breastfeeding at least seven times during the NICU stay. The collected data were analyzed by the χ2-test and repeated measures ANOVA using an SPSS program. Results: The experimental group showed a higher direct breastfeeding practice rate (χ2 = 19.29, p < .001), breastfeeding continuation rate (χ2 = 3.76, p < .001), and self-efficacy (F = 25.37, p < .001) than the control group except for maternal attachment. Conclusion: The direct breastfeeding program in the NICU has significant effects on the practice and continuation rate of breastfeeding and breastfeeding self-efficacy. Therefore, this program can be applied in the NICU settings where direct breastfeeding is limited.

Objectives: This study aimed to use a laboratory model to evaluate the efficacy of an experimental bleaching agent. Materials and Methods: The model used human extracted molars that were treated and measured for bleaching efficacy. Teeth (n = 50) were distributed into 5 groups: Negative control (NC): immersion in water for 8 hours; Nanofibers (NFs): Experimental titanium dioxide nanofibers with stirring and light activation for 8 hours; Whitestrips (WS): Crest 3D White Glamorous White Whitestrips, 2 applications daily for 30 minutes, 14 days; 1% hydrogen peroxide (HP) standard: 1% hydrogen peroxide for 8 hours; and 30% HP standard: 30% hydrogen peroxide for 8 hours. Instrumental measurements were performed using a spectrophotometer. Results were recorded at baseline, 1-day post-bleaching, and 1-week post-bleaching. Kruskal-Wallis procedure was used to determine differences in color change. Pearson correlation was used to evaluate the relationship between visual and instrumental measurements. Tests of hypotheses were 2-sided with alpha = 0.05. Results: There was no significant difference in color parameters (L1, a1, b1, and shade guide units [SGU]) at baseline (p > 0.05). There was a significant difference among the groups for overall color change (ΔE*ab) and change in shade guide units (ΔSGU) at 1-day and 1-week post-bleaching (p < 0.05). The higher the HP concentration, the higher the color change as expressed in ΔSGU and ΔE*ab. The negative control exceeded the perceptibility threshold of ΔE* = 1.2 regardless of time point. NFs showed a decrease in chroma, but were not statistically different compared to the negative control. Conclusions: The laboratory model was successful in screening an experimental bleaching agent.
Cracking and bulging in welded and internally lined pressure vessels that work in thermal-mechanical cycling service have been well known problems in the petrochemical, power and nuclear industries. However, published literature and industry surveys show that similar problems have been occurring during the last 50 years. A better understanding of the causes of cracking and bulging causes is needed to improve the reliability of these pressure vessels. This study attempts to add information required for increasing the knowledge and fundamental understanding required. Typical examples of this problem are the coke drums in the delayed coking units refinery process. This case was selected for experimental work, field study and results comparison. Delayed coking units are among the refinery units that have higher economical yields. To shut down these units represents a high negative economical impact in refinery operations. Also, the maintenance costs associated with repairs are commonly very high. Cracking and bulging occurrences in the coke drums, most often at the weld areas, characterize the history of the operation of delayed coking units. To design and operate more robust coke drums with fewer problems, an improved metallurgical understanding of the cracking and bulging mechanisms is required. A methodology that is based field experience revision and metallurgical analyses for the screening of the most important variables, and subsequent finite element analyses to verify hypotheses and to rank the variables according to their impact on the coke drum lives has been developed. This indicated approach provides useful information for increasing coke drum reliability. The results of this work not only order the most important variables according to their impact in the life of the vessels, but also permit estimation of the life spans of coke drums. In conclusion, the current work shows that coke drums may fail as a combination of thermal fatigue and other degradation mechanisms such as: corrosion at high and low temperatures, detrimental metallurgical transformations and plastic deformation. It was also found that FEA is a very valuable tool for understanding cracking and bulging mechanisms in these services and for ranking the design, fabrication, operation and maintenance variables that affect coke drum reliability.

A stochastic probability model based on the non-homogeneous Poisson process is represented that can correctly analyze the time-dependent linear and nonlinear behaviors of total damage over the occurrence process of loads. Introducing several types of damage intensity functions, the probability of failure and the total damage with respect to mean time to failure has been investigated in detail. Taking particularly the limit state to be the random variables followed with a distribution function, the uncertainty of that would be taken into consideration in this paper. In addition, the stochastic probability model has been straightforwardly applied to the rubble-mound breakwaters with the definition of damage level about the erosion of armor units. The probability of failure and the nonlinear total damage with respect to mean time to failure has been analyzed with the damage intensity functions for armor units estimated by fitting the expected total damage to the experimental datum. Based on the present results from the stochastic probability model, the preventive management for the armor units of the rubble-mound breakwaters would be suggested to make a decision on the repairing time and the minimum amounts repaired quantitatively.
The effects of application of dentin desensitizer containing glutaraldehyde (Gluma Desensitizer) and dentin adhesive system (All Bond 2) to the exposed dentin on the intradental nerve activity (INA) and the occluding aspects of dentinal tubules were investigated in cat canine teeth. Single pulp nerve units were dissected from the inferior alveolar nerve and indentified as $A{\delta}$-fiber units. The INAs elicited by 4M NaCl before and after the application of each experimental agent were compared. The morphological changes of exposed dentin surfaces and dentinal tubules in the dentin specimens used to record INAs were observed by SEM. The results obtained were as follows. 1. Eight $A{\delta}$-fiber units (conduction velocity: $8.0{\pm}4.0m$/sec) were identified. 4M NaCl evoked an irregular burst of action potentials which ceased immediately after washing. 2. In 4 $A{\delta}$-fiber units, the change of INA after the application of Gluma Desensitizer was $133.9{\pm}80.7%$ when it was compared with the INA before the application of the same agent. 3. In 4 $A{\delta}$-fiber units, application of All Bond 2 completely abolished the INA induced by 4M NaCl. 4. In specimens applied with Gluma Desensitizer, the formation of hybrid layer as well as the identification of resin penetration and reaction products with proteins in dentinal tubules were not clearly observed in interface between dentin and adhesive resin. In specimens applied with All Bond 2, the gap width of 2-$3{\mu}m$ was formed between exposed dentin and adhesive resin, and the hybrid layer and resin tags were not clearly formed either.

The research analyzes structure models of Repeated Measurement Design (RMD) and Hierarchical Design (HD). The experimental unit of RMD model is living organisms, such as human. In contrast, HD is used when all the factors are random. The HD models are derived from R:B:A, R:C:B:A and R:C:($A{\times}B$).
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the tensile bond strength to tooth structure of composite resin and glass ionomer cement according to filling methods and light curing units. In this study, two class V cavities were prepared on the buccal surface of each tooth of 140 extracted human molars, and they were randomly assigned into 3 experimental groups with 40 teeth and control group with 20 teeth. And then, each experimental groups subdivided into 2 groups(A,B) according to light curing units. The cavities of each group were filled with the CLEARFIL FII self curing resin(Control Group), Z-100 light curing resin(Group 1), Vitremer$^{TM}$ light curing glass ionomer cement(Group 2) and Z-100 light curing resin over the Vitrebond$^{TM}$ liner(Group 3). And subdivided A Group used Argon Laser(SPECTRUM$^{TM}$, U.S.A.), B Group used XL 1,000 curing light (3M, U.S.A.). The specimens underwent temperature changed from $5^{\circ}C$ to $55^{\circ}C$ five hundred times. After thermocycling, specimens were stored in 100% relative humidity at $37^{\circ}C$ for 24 hours. And then, the tensile bond strength of specimens were calculated with Universal Testing Machine(AGS-100A, Japan). The results were as follows : 1. Among the experimental groups, the group 2-B showed the highest tensile bond strength ($18.89{\pm}7.80$) and the group 1-A showed the lowest tensile bond strength ($11.68{\pm}2.28$). There was significant difference between group 2-B and group 1-A(p<0.01). 2. Between the light curing units, the XL 1,000 unit showed higher tensile bond strength ($16.63{\pm}3.20$) than that of the Argon Laser unit ($13.73{\pm}2.30$). There was significant difference between XL 1,000 and Argon Laser(p<0.01). 3. About filling methods and materials, the group 2 showed the highest tensile bond strength ($17.56{\pm}1.89$) and the group 1 showed the lowest tensile bond strength($13.03{\pm}1.90$). There was significant difference between group 2 and group 1,3(p<0.01). In conclusion, the results showed that the glass-ionomer cement that cured by XL 1,000 light curing unit demonstrated significantly higher tensile bond strength than other curing unit and filling methods.

The development of the high-efficiency machine-tools equipment and new cutting tool materials with high hardness, heat- and wear-resistance has opened the way to application of high-speed cutting process. The basic argument of using of high-speed cutting processes is the reduction of time and the respective increase of machining productivity. In this sense, the spindle units may be regarded as one of the most important units, directly affecting many parameters of high-speed machining efficiency. One of the possible types of spindle units for high-speed cutting is the air-bearing type. In this paper, we propose the mathematical model of the dynamic behavior of the air-bearing spindle. To provide the high-level of speed capacity and spindle rotation accuracy we need the adequate model of "spindle-bearings" system. This model should consider characteristics of the interactions between system components and environment. To find the working characteristics of spindle unit we should derive the equations of spindle axis movement under the affecting factors, and solve these equations together with equations which describe the behavior of lubricant layer in bearing (bearing stiffness equations). In this paper, the three influence coefficients are introduced, which describe the center of spindle mass displacement, angle of shaft rotation around the axes under the unit force application and that under the unit torque application. These coefficients are operated in the system of differential equations, which describes the spindle axis spatial movement. This system is solved by Runge-Kutta method. Obtained trajectories and amplitude-frequency characteristics were then compared to experimental ones. The analysis shows good agreement between theoretical and experimental results, which confirms that the proposed model of air-bearing spindle is correctis correct
Purpose: This study aimed to determine the effects of listening to music on pain and vital signs of critically ill patients with ventilatory support in intensive care units during nursing treatment (changes of posture and tracheal suction). Methods: The experimental treatment was to use an mp3 player and a speaker to let them listen to classical music by Mozart during nursing treatment. To determine the effects of music intervention, pain (Critical-Care Pain Observation Tool-K) was used. The data analysis was carried out by using PASW Statistics 20.0. Results: Hypothesis "The scores for pain would differ between the experimental group provided with music intervention during nursing treatment, and the control group" was supported. Conclusion: Application of music intervention during nursing treatment for critically ill patients with ventilatory support in intensive care units was found to be effective in reducing pain. Therefore, music intervention during nursing treatment for critically ill patients with ventilatory support can be used as non-pharmaceutical nursing intervention to reduce pain for the patients.
