Wind design spectra for generalisation

  • Previous research has shown that wind acceleration components produce a signal that can vibrate single-degree of-freedom oscillators, whose dynamic responses enable to configure design spectra for structures subject to wind. These wind design spectra present an alternative method for evaluating the dynamic response of structures and are a suitable tool for running modal analyses. Here, a generalised method for producing wind design spectra is proposed. The method consists of scaling existing spectra to adjust to a wider range of building properties and terrain conditions. The modelling technique is tested on a benchmark building to prove that its results are consistent with experimental evidence reported in the past.

  • In this paper, it is proposed the phase shifter array active system to receive digital satellite broadcasting for vehicle. To receive satellite broadcasting data in vehicle, it is inevitable to have active antenna system, which traces the satellite in real time. Also if it is used in vehicle, it must be thin and light structure. To develop this type of antenna system, several techniques should be integrated properly. These are the design and manufacturing technique of high gain antenna, algorithm for tracking satellite and its manufacturing technique, controller design and manufacturing technique, system integration technique and so on. The validity of the proposed AVDBS system was confirmed by simulation and experimental results.

유전자 알고리즘을 이용한 저전력 회로 설계 (Designing Circuits for Low Power using Genetic Algorithms)

  • 본 논문에서는 CMOS 디지털 회로상의 플립플롭의 위치를 이동시키는 리타이밍 변환에 유전자 알고리즘을 적용하여 회로의 최적 동작 속도를 유지하면서 전력의 소모를 줄일 수 있는 설계 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 설계 방법은 최적 속도를 구현하는 리타이밍 단계와 유전자 알고리즘이 적용되는 저전력 리타이밍의 두 단계로 이루어진다. 제안된 저전력 리타이밍 설계 도구를 예제 회로의 설계에 적용하고 설계된 회로의 성능을 Synopsys시의 Design Analyzer로 평가한 결과, 임계 경로 지연은 약 30~50% 가량 감소하였으며 동적 전력 소모는 약 1.4~18.4% 가량 감소함을 관찰하였다.

SolidWorks®와 LabVIEW®를 연동한 6축 수직 다관절 로봇의 게인 튜닝 연구 (Technique for Simulating Gain Tuning using SolidWorks® and LabVIEW® for a Six-Axis Articulated Robot)

  • For accurate gain tuning of the lab-manufactured six-axis articulated robot RS2 with less noise, in this study, a program routine using dynamic signal analyzer, which is a realization of a controller design algorithm in the frequency domain, is programmed using LabVIEW$^{(R)}$. The contribution of this paper is the proposal of a simulation technique based on SolidWorks$^{(R)}$ and LabVIEW$^{(R)}$ for the gain tuning of a six-axis articulated robot. To realize the simulation, the LabVIEW$^{(R)}$ program used for experimental gain tuning is incorporated in to SolidWorks$^{(R)}$. A comparison shows that the results of simulation-based gain tuning and experimental gain tuning are almost the same within a 5% error bound. On the basis of the comparison, it can be suggested that the simulation-based technique for gain tuning can be applied instead of experimental gain tuning to a six-axis articulated robot by interlocking SolidWorks$^{(R)}$ and LabVIEW$^{(R)}$.

반응적응 시험설계법을 이용하는 통계적 해석모델 검증 기법 연구 (A Study on the Statistical Model Validation using Response-adaptive Experimental Design)

  • Model verification and validation (V&V) is a current research topic to build computational models with high predictive capability by addressing the general concepts, processes and statistical techniques. The hypothesis test for validity check is one of the model validation techniques and gives a guideline to evaluate the validity of a computational model when limited experimental data only exist due to restricted test resources (e.g., time and budget). The hypothesis test for validity check mainly employ Type I error, the risk of rejecting the valid computational model, for the validity evaluation since quantification of Type II error is not feasible for model validation. However, Type II error, the risk of accepting invalid computational model, should be importantly considered for an engineered products having high risk on predicted results. This paper proposes a technique named as the response-adaptive experimental design to reduce Type II error by adaptively designing experimental conditions for the validation experiment. A tire tread block problem and a numerical example are employed to show the effectiveness of the response-adaptive experimental design for the validity evaluation.

  • This paper presented a new experimental gain tuning technique for a Multi-Axis Servo System. First, the investigation for proportional gain of velocity control loop by using a Dynamic Signal Analyzer (DSA) was performed. Using the FUNCTION characteristic of DSA based on the Bode plot, the Bode plot of open loop transfer function was obtained. In turn, the integral gain of a servo controller can be found out by using the Integration time constant extracted from the Bode plot of open loop transfer function. In the meanwhile, the positional gain of the servo controller has been obtained by using the Bode plot of the closed loop transfer function. We have also proposed the technique to find out an optimal parameter of a notch filter, which has a great influence on vibration reduction, by using the damping factor extracted from the Bode plot of closed loop transfer function.

  • The effect of multiple process parameters on a set of continuous response variables is, especially in experimental designs, difficult and intricate to determine. Due to the complexity in aeroacoustic and vibroacoustic studies, the often-performed simple one-factor-at-a-time method turns out to be the least effective approach. In contrast, the statistical Design of Experiments is a technique used with the objective to maximize the obtained information while keeping the experimental effort at a minimum. The presented work aims at giving insights on Design of Experiments applied to aeroacoustic and vibroacoustic problems while comparing different experimental designs and approximation models. For this purpose, an experimental rig of a ducted low-pressure fan is developed that allows gathering data of both, aerodynamic and aeroacoustic nature while analysing three independent process parameters. The experimental designs used to sample the design space are a Central Composite design and a Box-Behnken design, both used to model a response surface regression, and Latin Hypercube sampling to model an Artificial Neural network. The results indicate that Latin Hypercube sampling extracts information that is more diverse and, in combination with an Artificial Neural network, outperforms the quadratic response surface regressions. It is shown that the Latin Hypercube sampling, initially developed for computer-aided experiments, can also be used as an experimental design. To further increase the benefit of the presented approach, spectral information of every experimental test point is extracted and Artificial Neural networks are chosen for modelling the spectral information since they show to be the most universal approximators.

Novel Third Harmonic Current Injection Technique for Harmonic Reduction of Controlled Converters

  • Three-phase controlled converters have many applications in the utility interfacing of renewable energy sources and adjustable speed drives as a rectifier or inverter. The utility line currents of these converters have a high harmonic distortion, which is more than the harmonic standards. This paper introduces a new technique for circulating the third harmonic currents from the dc-link to the line currents to reduce their harmonic contents. The proposed system uses a single-phase PWM converter to control the angle and amplitude of the injection current for each of the firing angle of a three-phase converter. A detailed analysis is introduced to achieve a relationship between the firing angle of the three-phase controlled converter and the power angle of the PWM converter. In addition, a detailed design for the other injection path components is introduced. A simulation and experimental work is introduced to prove the mathematical derivations. Analysis, simulation and experimental results prove the superiority of the proposed technique.

다구찌 실험법을 이용한 압력용기 메탈시일 구조물의 최적화 설계 (Optimized Design of Metal Seal Structure for a Pressure Vessel using Taguchi's Experimental Method)

  • 본 논문은 다구찌 실험 설계법을 이용하여 압력용기의 메탈시일 구조물에 대한 해석을 수행하였다. 다구찌 설계방법은 압력용기의 밀봉을 위한 캔티레버 타입 밀봉장치 구조물에 대한 설계 파라메터를 최적화 하는데 대단히 유용하다. 다구찌 기법으로 수행된 해석결과에 따르면, 최적화 설계 치수는 단지 16번의 반복 실험법에 의해 파라메터 치수를 최적의 조건으로 얻을 수 있다는 측면에서 간편한 설계도구이다. 이것은 다구찌 설계 실험법이 곡선면을 갖는 구조물의 최적화 설계에서 대단히 유용하다는 것을 의미한다. 다구찌 설계기법에 기초한 해석결과를 보면, 메탈시일 구조물의 에지부에 대한 최적화 치수와 경사각도는 $d_1=50mm,\;d_2=60mm,\;a_1=20^{\circ},\;a_2=8^{\circ},\;a_3=5^{\circ}$으로 각각 요약될 수 있다.

X-대역 마이크로 스트? 방향성 결합기의 설계 (Design of X band Microstrip Directional Couplers)

  • 본 논문은 대칭 (단자 단로망이론을 근거로 분포정수 회로에 대한 매트릭스식에 의해서 결합기의 결합도와 특성임피던스간의 관계식을 얻어내었고 마이크로스트립 전송선로에 대한 칭전기학적 접근방식에 의해 등각사상법의 적용방식을 밝히고 경계치조건을 만족시키는 특성임피이던스식과 유전체 경계면상에서의 위상속도와 우수모드 및 기수모드 시의 유효유전율의 관계에 의해서 결합영역의 길이를 결정하는 식을 유도하였다. 결과식을 이용하여 원하는 방향성 결합기의 칫수를 콤퓨타 프로그램에 의하여 설계하였으며 설계한 결합기의 칫수에 따라 양면 유전체기판 Custom High K 707L-2.5을 사용하여 7개의 결합기를 제작하였다. 이 제작된 결합기는 실험에 의해서 이론치와 비교 고찰하였으며 10dB에서 20dB까지의 요구되는 결합기는 비교적 좋은 결과를 얻었다. A significant new technique in the dsvelopment of micro-wave circuits is the process of untilization of coupled lines in the transverse electro-magnetic field. The bases for this technique are the application of even-and odd-mode characteristic impedances of the transmission line. This article describes the properties of directional couplers and explains a prccfdure usrd to design micro-strip directional couplers with the aid of the computer. The article also describes the experimental results obtained from seven microstrip couplers, which were built to verify the computer program and the approximate solutions. It can be seen that in cases at X-band where couplings of 10 to 20dB are required, the computer program and approximate solutions will produce good results.
