VaR (value at risk), which represents the expectation of the worst loss that may occur over a period of time within a given level of confidence, is currently used by various financial institutions for the purpose of risk management. In the majority of previous studies, the probability of return has been modeled with normal distribution. Recently Chen et al. (2010) measured VaR with asymmetric Laplacian distribution. However, it is difficult to estimate the mode, the skewness, and the degree of variance that determine the shape of an asymmetric Laplacian distribution with limited data in the real-world market. In this paper, we show that the VaR estimated with (symmetric) Laplacian distribution model provides more accuracy than those with normal distribution model or asymmetric Laplacian distribution model with real world stock market data and with various statistical measures.
This study aims to measure in-patients' willingness to choose the same hospital, and to define the related factors. The willingness was measured by the fact whether in-patients would return to the same hospital for their future hospitalization and can be said as the essence of ascertaining patients' satisfaction. Data was collected from 236 patients hospitalized in two hospitals selected according to its superiority, one being superior in medical technique, the other being superior in facility and equipment. To enhance the comparability between the two hospitals, the department and the diagnosis were matched, and structured questionnaires were self-fill-up. The main findings are as follows. Hospitals were analyzed by their superiority : medical services, facility and equipment. In case of hospitals with superior medical services, the willingness was proportional to positive doctor-patient relationship, to satisfaction with the medical level, and to the acknowledgement of utility in cure. In case of hospitals with superior facility and equipment, the willingness was proportional to the satisfactory state of overall facility. Two types of hospitals were combined and analyzed. The willingness for choosing hospitals with superior medical services was stronger than that for choosing the other hospitals. The satisfaction with overall facility, satisfaction with medical level, acknowledgement of utility in cure, positive doctor-patient relationship, and better consultation produced higher willingness to choose the same hospital. The willingness for the option shows to what degree the hospital suffices patients' expectation. Patients' understanding views were obviously influential. The satisfaction level for medical aspect was more influential than the level for non-medical aspect.
This study is focused on the medical services market in china which would be the largest one in the world sooner or later. An empirical research has been performed on the country images and related buying attitudes of the Chinese potential consumers for foreign medical services of more higher level. Upon the basis of this research results, the components of a country image has been restructured and the country image effects on the process of a purchasing decision of the advanced foreign medical services in China has been investigated and analyzed. This research shows that the forming process and the dimensions of a country image in Chinese consumers are rather simplified than the former researches of the same kind in any other countries. In China the expectation and buying intension for foreign medical services is found to be affected directly by a country image. Furthermore among various components of a country image the expected service quality level of the Chinese is found to be mostly dependent on the social stability and safety rather than on the degree of economic developments. Recently breaking through the domestic medical market crisis, more and more hospitals consider to advance into Chinese medical market. This research shows that the reexamination and political concerns on the country image of Korea are needed in the level of government's public relations. Especially the proactive policy making and propaganda of political, social and economic stability and safety in Korea are thought to be more important for successful entry in Chinese medical services market.
The purpose of this study was to identify the degree of nursing self-leadership, self-esteem, and nursing performance and to analyze the relationship between these variables, and its effect on nursing performance. The self-leadership of the study nurses was $3.37{\pm}0.45$ on the 5-point scale, $3.02{\pm}0.36$ on the 4-point scale, and $3.59{\pm}0.45$ on the 5-point scale. The variables affecting nursing performance were self-expectation(${\beta}=.24$, p<.001), rehearsal(${\beta}=.15$, p=.008), and self-esteem(${\beta}=.28$, p<.001), these variables accounted for 53.0%(F=41.45, p<.001). The study could serve as a base material for the development of strategies to improve self-assured attitudes and positive self-esteem when performing tasks aimed at improving nursing performance.

An inquiry approach in teaching science has been advocated by many science educators for the past few decades, and most elementary and secondary science curricula have incorporated it in varying degrees. It has been proven in recent studies, however, that there exists considerable discrepancy between the expectation of outcomes of the inquiry approach and the actuality. This in part implies that there is a somewhat urgent need for the systematic evaluation of the approach in teaching science. The purpose of this study is to develop a comprehensive instrument for evaluating inquiry teaching approaches embedded in science curricular materials. To develop a more valid and reliable instrument a set of empirical data was used in the developmental procedure, and most of the previous studies regarding inquiry teaching method and inquiry evaluation were consulted. The inquiry evaluation method developed in this study, called the Scientific Inquiry Evaluation Inventory (SIEI), is composed of three parts: (1) analyzing and coding each science process task of inquiry activity; (2) evaluating each inquiry activity as a whole; and (3) evaluating each science laboratory curriculum as a whole. The first part of the instrument consists of twenty science process categories and thirty subcategories grouped into four sections: (1) gathering and organizing data; (2) interpreting and analyzing data; (3) synthesizing results and evaluation; and (4) hypothesizing and designing an experiment. The science process categories are arranged according to the level of difficulty, psychological level of thinking, degree of creativity demand, and the model of the process of scientific inquiry, which is also developed in the study. The second part of the instrument contains four evaluation scales of inquiry activity: (1) competition/cooperation scale; (2) discussion scale; (3) openness scale; and (4) inquiry scope scale. And the last part consists of three methods for evaluating a science laboratory curriculum as a whole: (1) inquiry pyramid; (2) inquiry index; and (3) difficulty index. The instrument is designed to be used by teachers, science curriculum developers and science education evaluators for the purpose of diagnosing the nature and appropriateness of scientific inquiry introduced in secondary science curricular materials, especailly in laboratory work and field work.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the shopping values(utilitarian and hedonic values) sought and the risks(economic, functional, socio-psychological, and privacy) perceived by consumers who participate in Internet auctions by determining the factors that affect their shopping values and risk perceptions. Empirical data were collected by an Internet survey of netizens who were interested in and had experience in Internet auctions. Questionnaires were distributed to the subjects through an Internet survey site and at an Internet auction cafe. A total of 300 questionnaires were analyzed. The results showed that consumers showed a slightly greater pursuit of a utilitarian value than a hedonic outcome in their Internet auction practices; however the outcomes pursued by consumers in their teens and twenties tended to be more hedonic than utilitarian. Consumers with a higher level of innovation, self-confidence in purchase, and need for information searching showed a greater pursuit of utilitarian and hedonic outcomes. The group of consumers with a higher expectation for legal protection pursued a more utilitarian outcome, whereas the group of consumers with higher influence from the reference group pursued a more hedonic outcome. The consumers showed that they perceived functional risk as boing most serious, followed by privacy risk, economic risk, and socio-psychological risk. Subjects with higher degrees of innovation, self-confidence in purchase and self-control perceived economic risk as critical. Functional risk was perceived to be highest in the group of consumers with self-control and a need for information searching, whereas socio-psychological risk was perceived to be highest in the group of consumers showing more self-control. Privacy risk was perceived to be highest in the group of consumers with a higher degree of innovation and lowest in both groups of higher and lower affection. Both economic and privacy risks were perceived to be lower in the group of lower pursuit of a hedonic outcome.

The goal of the public library as perceived by its staff has asignificant influence on establishing, implementing and restructuring the objectives of the public library. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the nature of staff's perception of the goal. The goals of the library are divided into 'actual goal' and 'preferred goal' according to the level of goals, and into 'aoutput goal' a and 'asupport goal'a according to the areas of goals. This study aims at clarifying the relationship among various goals of the public library. On the basis of staff's perception, personal characteristics of individual staff and their effects on the goal can be analyzed. For the purpose of the research, the author took a sample from the 238 public libraries in Korea and tested a few hypotheses extracted from the questionnaires. A statistical software package called SYSTAT was used to process the data. The result of the study can be summarized as follows: 1. Staff members of the public libraries tend to place a higher priority on support goal with instrumental value over output goal, the terminal value of the public library. This is tantamount to a displacement of goals. 2. Personal characteristics such as the age and the length of work experience appear to influence their present perception of actual goal at large. On the other hand, the formal qualification as librarian and special features regarding the job hierarchy seem to affect the areas of support goal within the actual goal. 3. Perception of preferred goal is affected mainly by formal qualification as librarian among their personal characteristics. 4. There is a significant difference between the staff's perception of actual and preferred goals in the large. Goal discrepancy which indicates the expectation of change and the degree of conflict in goals is very large as well.
The purpose of this study is to investigate any differences in perception of fashion brand positioning between a manufacturer and a consumer. So this can provide theoretical suggestions for the development of brand positioning strategy for fashion brand. For this study, three brands, (MINE, TELEGRAPH, and MICHAA,) were selected by the criteria. The data were collected via a selfadministered questionnaire and analysed by the statistical method. The results of investigation were as follows: 1. The consumers had good attitudes in the order following: MINE, MICHAA, and TELEGRAPH in the factors1). In the case of purchasing the goods, the result of the research showed presented that the consumer had better attitudes than in the case of unpurchasing the goods. Contrary to our expectation, TELEGRAPH has the best attitude in personality, one of the factors. 2. In the image positioning map between the manufacturer and the consumer, the consumer had the same perception about the manufacturer. However, there is a gap on the degree of agreement for positioning map. In the case of purchasing the goods, the result of the research represents that the consumers are similar to the manufacturer in perception of the image positioning. 3. In the results of forming attitudes and recognizing brand by the consumer, there is a difference in brand positioning. The display and the shop appearance are very important means of attractions very to the consumers but salesmen‘s service or direct mail (DM) do not appeal to the consumer.
Background: This study attempted to find out the degree of awareness of owners who have the most influence on companion animal's rehabilitation exercise, and the purpose of the treatment effect, and the expectations of rebilitation treatment. The purpose of this study is to find out about the awareness, comprehension, and expectations of caregiver for rehabilitation exercise in companion animal medical services, and to develop them into a field of animal medical services. Design: The tool used in this study used a questionnaire, and the composition consists of the subject's general characteristics, recognition of companion animal rehabilitation, comprehension and expectation. Methods: A questionnaire was given to 103 companion animal's owners, and all were collected and analyzed. Analysis of the frequency analysis method, Fisher's exact test were analyzed. Results: It was confirmed that the difference was significant in the question of whether the caregivers had heard companion animal rehabilitation (p<.05). When asked that rehabilitation is necessary to improve physical function, the difference was confirmed to be significant (p<.05). The significance was confirmed when asked if the caregiver was willing to participate in animal rehabilitation education (p<.05). When asked if caregiver was willing to recommend rehabilitation exercise for companion animal of other caregiver who need rehabilitation exercise, it was confirmed that the difference was significant (p<.05). Conclusion: There was significant difference between gender. This study confirmed that the definite concept caregivers' perception in animal rehabilitation was not established. Therefore, in order to improve perception of caregivers, interdisciplinary exchanges and publicity for animal rehabilitation are needed, and the development of training and education programs for rehabilitation experts was suggested.

To meet the requirements in the global age, the necessity and importance of global education in the field of education is rapidly increasing. However, according to the viewpoint on global education, a general consensus of its definition and model is not clear yet and the substantial outcome falls short of our expectation due to high cost, low effectiveness, and lack of persistency in the process of global education. Furthermore, there has been little research on global education for fostering global capabilities of pre-teachers. In this research, we compared and analyzed the ongoing global education programs for training global teachers in domestic universities. Also, through a study on IT fusion education system for tackling the difficulties in global education, we examined appropriate IT fusion education methods. In particular, beased on big data analysis techniques, we presented a recommendation system to complete a global curriculum, which can help a dual-degree or exchange student program.
