점화플러그 위치에 따른 SI 단기통 엔진의 배출가스특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Emission Characteristics according to Spark Plug Location in a Single SI Engine)

  • In this study, the variation of spark plug location in the combustion chamber was investigated for the sake of emission characteristics from SI engine by using PDA valve. The swirl is ong of the important parameters that effects emission characteristics. PDA valve has been used to satisfy the requirements of sufficient swirl generation to improve combustion and emission reduction to effect on flow profile on a combustion chamber. Especially, the variation of spark plug location have an important effect to analyze exhaust gas and the early flame propagative process. Therefore, this test is forced that injection timing, spark timing and intake air motion govern the stable combustion. From the results, it showed that the variable spark plug location and PDA valve can be reduced exhaust gas.

  • In recent years, the study on the high efficiency of the internal combustion engine has been mainly proceeding. In this study, we developed rotary valve to achieve the improvement of volumetric efficiency and to be simple construction. And then made a comparative analysis between rotary and poppet valve. In this experiment, rotary valve enlarged the flow area of valve port to minimize the resistance of the fluid flow and to flow smoothly in intake and exhaust process. Indeed, valve timing was controlled properly lest positive pressure in exhaust process should affect intake process. Motoring and firing experiments were using engine speed and air-fuel ratio as the principle parameter and the full opening of throttle valve and minimum spark advance for best torque (MBT) as engine operating variables.

터널 화재 시 환기 방식에 따른 배연 특성의 수치해석 연구 (A Numerical Study on Characteristics of Smoke Exhaust in Road Tunnel Fires for Different Ventilation System)

  • 본 연구에서는 양방향 도로 터널 내에서 화재 발생 시, 3차원 수치해석 프로그램인 FLUENT를 이용하여 효과적인 배연방식시스템을 도출하였다. 수치해석은 횡류방식과 반횡류방식의 환기방식에서 균일배기와 대배기의 배연방식을 각각 적용하는 경우에 대한 해석을 실시하였으며, 종류환기 방식을 적용한 경우에 대하여 연기의 이동특성의 해석을 실시하였다. 연기의 확산은 CO농도를 이용하였으며 터널 내의 풍속 및 배기구의 크기, 배기방식의 변화에 따른 배연 특성 해석을 실시하였다. 연구결과로서 양방향 도로터널에서는 횡류환기방식의 배연이 적절하며, 대배기구의 경우가 균일배기의 경우보다 효과적으로 연기의 이동을 억제하였다.

흡기포트 선회비 변경에 따른 유동특성 및 엔진성능에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Flow Characteristics and Engine Performance with Swirl Ratio Variance of Intake Port)

  • The characteristics of air flow and engine performance with swirl ratio variance of intake port In a turbocharged DI diesel engine was studied in this paper. The intake port flow is important factor which have influence on the engine performance and exhaust emission because the properties in the injected fuel depend on the combustion characteristics. The swirl ratio for ports was modified by hand-working and measured by impulse swirl meter. For the effects on performance and emission, the brake torque and brake specific fuel consumption were measured by engine dynamometer and NOx, smoke were measured by gas analyzer and smoke meter. As a result of steady flow test, when the valve eccentricity ratio are closed to cylinder wall, the flow coefficient and swirl intensity are increased. And as the swirl ratio is increased, the mean flow coefficient is decreasing, whereas the gulf factor is increasing. Also, through engine test its can be expected to meet performance and emission by optimizing the main parameters; the swirl ratio of intake port, injection timing and compression ratio.

부산 북항 주변지역에서 포집된 PM2.5의 개별입자 특성 (Characteristics of Individual Particles for PM2.5 Collected around Busan North Port)

  • In order to investigate the characteristics of the effects of various emission sources such as ships around the Busan North Port area, PM2.5 samples were analyzed by SEM/EDS (scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive x-ray spectrometer). In the port city Busan, the main emission source of PM2.5 is ships, and soot was observed as the main exhaust particles of a ship diesel engine. As a result of the individual particle analysis of PM2.5 at the sampling site, carbonaceous particles such as soot and water droplet-shaped, which are considered to be exhausted from ships, were constantly observed. And some spherical Fe-rich particles also appeared.

선박 배기가스의 대기확산 패턴에 관한 연구 - 부산항을 중심으로 (A Study on Atmospheric Dispersion Pattern of Ship Emissions - Focusing on Port of Busan)

  • 부산항은 국내 물동량의 75% 이상을 처리하는 제1의 항만이며, 세계 글로벌 항만 중 6위를 차지하고 있다. 본 연구는 부산항의 중추역할을 하면서 시내와 가까이 위치한 북항에 접안하는 선박들로부터 발생되는 배기가스를 추정하고, 항만 주변으로 어떻게 확산되는지 분석하고자 한다. 이를 위해 미국 환경보건국에서 제안한 배기가스산출모형을 적용하여 선박유형별 배출량을 산정하고, 대기확산모형인 CALPUFF Model를 통해 계절, 기상상태, 시간변화에 따른 배기가스의 대기확산 패턴을 분석한 후, 시사점을 도출하였다. 분석결과, 주요 오염원인 질소산화물, 이산화황, 미세먼지의 배출량은 각각 30,853톤, 36,281톤, 6,856톤이며, 유조선에서 42%로 가장 많이 발생하였다. 또한 맑은 날엔 대기오염이 항만주위에 정체되고, 바람 부는 날엔 넓게 확산되며, 비오는 날엔 가장 옅어지는 경향을 보였다. 본 연구의 결과는 대기오염의 심각성을 인식하게 하며, 향후 공공보건을 위한 정책 수립시 기초자료로 활용이 가능하다.

EFFECT OF VALVE TIMING AND LIFT ON FLOW AND MIXING CHARACTERISTICS OF A CAI ENGINE

  • To increase the reliability of auto-ignition in CAI engines, the thermodynamic properties of intake flow is often controlled using recycled exhaust gases, called internal EGR. Because of the internal EGR influence on the overall thermodynamic properties and mixing quality of the gases that affect the subsequent combustion behavior, optimizing the intake and exhaust valve timing for the EGR is important to achieve the reliable auto-ignition and high thermal efficiency. In the present study, fully 3D numerical simulations were carried out to predict the mixing characteristics and flow field inside the cylinder as a function of valve timing. The 3D unsteady Eulerian-Lagrangian two-phase model was used to account for the interaction between the intake air and remaining internal EGR during the under-lap operation while varying three major parameters: the intake valve(IV) and exhaust valve(EV) timings and intake valve lift(IVL). Computational results showed that the largest EVC retardation, as in A6, yielded the optimal mixing of both EGR and fuel. The IV timing had little effect on the mixing quality. However, the IV timing variation caused backflow from the cylinder to the intake port. With respect to reduction of heat loss due to backflow, the case in B6 was considered to present the optimal operating condition. With the variation of the intake valve lift, the A1 case yielded the minimum amount of backflow. The best mixing was delivered when the lift height was at a minimum of 2 mm.

GDI 엔진의 냉각수온에 따른 연소성능 및 입자상 물질 배출 특성 (Dependence of Nanoparticle and Combustion Characteristics of Gasoline Direct Injection Engines on Coolant Temperature)

  • 본 논문에서는 GDI 엔진의 냉각수 온도에 따른 연소 및 배출가스 특성을 연구하였다. 엔진에서 나오는 입자상 물질의 수와 크기 분포는 DMS-500 장비로 측정하였다. 배기포트 에 장착된 CLD-400 과 HFR-400 을 통해 NOx 및 THC 의 배출 특성을 연소주기 별로 측정하였다. 결과적으로 낮은 냉각수온에서 5~10 nm 의 입자상 물질이 크게 증가하는 특성을 보였다. THC 또한 낮은 냉각수온에서 증가하는 특성을 보였는데 이는 연소실 내 연료의 액막현상 때문이다. 그리고 NOx 는 높은 냉각수온에서 감소하는 특성을 보였는데 이는 내부 EGR 이 증가하기 때문이다. 결론적으로 THC 와 NOx 그리고 입자상 물질의 배출을 줄이기 위해서는 냉각수온을 빠르게 올리는 EMS 변수 설정 필요하다.

대형 CNG기관의 직접분사화에 의한 희박한계확장 (A study on expansion of lean burn limit with direct injection of the heavy-duty CNG engine)

  • Lean combustion is one of the most promising method for increasing engine efficiency and reducing the exhaust emission from SI gas engines. Due to the possibility of partial burn and misfire, however, under lean burn operation, stable flame kernel formation and fast burn rate are needed to guarantee a successful subsequent combustion. Experiment data were obtained on a single-cylinder CNG fueled SI engine to investigate the effect of direct injection, spark timing and variation of injection timing. Experimental results show that lean burn limit is ${\lambda}$=1.3 with port injection, and expansion of lean burn limit ${\lambda}$=1.4 with direct injection method, due to increase of turbulence intensity in cylinder and stratified charge. Combustion duration in lean region is improved by using the variation of injection timing.

공압회로에서 미터인 회로와 미터아웃 회로의 특성 비교 (Characterics of Meter-In / Meter-Out Circuits to pneumatic System)

  • Pneumatic system has been mainly used as main equipment for actuation and control of compressed air force in manufacturing industry, pneumatic circuit for the most part is used in Meter-Out circuit. Meter-Out circuit method is Flow Control Valve to fit in exhaust part of cylinder port. In the reverse, Meter-In circuit is Flow Control Valve to fit in input part of cylinder port. This study examines the dynamic characteristics comparison of Meter-In and Meter-Out Circuits in the pneumatic circuits. The results of the experimental research are obtained to the followings: i ) System Response is Meter-In Circuit more than Meter-Out one before cushion zone. ii) we conjectured that the collision of piston and head cover is ease to collide Meter-In Circuit more than Meter-Out one at the stroke end part.
