  • Eye tracking research for upper limb disabilities is showing an effect in the aspect of device control. However, the reality is that it is not enough to perform web interaction with only eye tracking technology. In the Eye-Voice interface, a previous study, in order to solve the problem that the existing gaze tracking interfaces cause a malfunction of pointer execution, a gaze tracking interface supplemented with a voice command was proposed. In addition, the reduction of the malfunction rate of the pointer was confirmed through a comparison experiment with the existing interface. In this process, the difficulty of pointing due to the small size of the execution object in the web environment was identified as another important problem of malfunction. In this study, we propose an auto-magnification interface of objects so that people with upper extremities can freely click web contents by improving the problem that it was difficult to point and execute due to the high density of execution objects and their arrangements in web pages.

  • This paper proposes a fast face detection and tracking method which uses depth images as well as RGB images. It consists of the face detection procedure and the face tracking procedure. The face detection method basically uses an existing method, Adaboost, but it reduces the size of the search area by using the depth image. The proposed face tracking method uses a template matching technique and incorporates an early-termination scheme to reduce the execution time further. The results from implementing and experimenting the proposed methods showed that the proposed face detection method takes only about 39% of the execution time of the existing method. The proposed tracking method takes only 2.48ms per frame with $640{\times}480$ resolution. For the exactness, the proposed detection method showed a little lower in detection ratio but in the error ratio, which is for the cases when a detected one as a face is not really a face, the proposed method showed only about 38% of that of the previous method. The proposed face tracking method turned out to have a trade-off relationship between the execution time and the exactness. In all the cases except a special one, the tracking error ratio is as low as about 1%. Therefore, we expect the proposed face detection and tracking methods can be used individually or in combined for many applications that need fast execution and exact detection or tracking.

  • Computers are the most common tool when using the Internet and utilizing a mouse to select and execute objects. Eye tracking technology is welcomed as an alternative technology to help control computers for users who cannot use their hands due to their disabilities. However, the pointer execution method of the existing eye tracking technique causes many malfunctions. Therefore, in this paper, we developed a gaze tracking interface that combines voice commands to solve the malfunction problem when the upper limb disabled uses the existing gaze tracking technology to execute computer menus and objects. Usability verification was conducted through comparative experiments regarding the improvements of the malfunction. The upper limb disabled who are hand-impaired use eye tracking technology to move the pointer and utilize the voice commands, such as, "okay" while browsing the computer screen for instant clicks. As a result of the comparative experiments on the reduction of the malfunction of pointer execution with the existing gaze interfaces, we verified that our system, Eye-Voice, reduced the malfunction rate of pointer execution and is effective for the upper limb disabled to use.

  • This paper proposes a fast face tracking method with only depth information. It is basically a template matching method, but it uses a early termination scheme and a sparse search scheme to reduce the execution time to solve the problem of a template matching method, large execution time. Also a refinement process with the neighboring pixels is incorporated to alleviate the tracking error. The depth change of the face being tracked is compensated by predicting the depth of the face and resizing the template. Also the search area is adjusted on the basis of the resized template. With home-made test sequences, the parameters to be used in face tracking are determined empirically. Then the proposed algorithm and the extracted parameters are applied to the other home-made test sequences and a MPEG multi-view test sequence. The experimental results showed that the average tracking error and the execution time for the home-made sequences by Kinect ($640{\times}480$) were about 3% and 2.45ms, while the MPEG test sequence ($1024{\times}768$) showed about 1% of tracking error and 7.46ms of execution time.

  • Welding fabrication invariantly involves three district sequential steps: preparation, actual process execution and post-weld inspection. One of the major problems in automating these steps and developing autonomous welding system is the lack of proper sensing strategies. Conventionally, machine vision is used in robotic arc welding only for the correction of pre-taught welding paths in single pass. However, in this paper, multipass tracking more than single pass tracking is performed by conventional seam tracking algorithm and developed one. And tracking performances of two algorithm are compared in multipass tracking. As the result, tracking performance in multi-pass welding shows superior conventional seam tracking algorithm to developed one.

  • As an agent is applied into various fields, it is suggested as the paradigm of new application technology in the area of computer communication. However, the mobile agent brines the problem of security on an agent due to mobility. This study proposals the mobile agent protection protocol framework for more effective protection and safety. The designed Framework of protocol uses the public ky, the private key and the digital signature in PKI environment based on JAVA. This is the mechanism accomplishing safely the work of an agent by tracking the pattern of execution and the mobility plan through the VS(verification server). This also secures the suity and the flawlessness of an agent through the VS guaranteeing safety from malicious attacks.

  • Object tracking is a common task in computer vision, an essential part of various vision-based applications. After several years of development, object tracking in video is still a challenging problem because of various visual properties of objects and surrounding environment. Particle filter is a well-known technique among common approaches, has been proven its effectiveness in dealing with difficulties in object tracking. However, particle filter is a high-complexity algorithms, which is an severe disadvantage because object tracking algorithms are required to run in real time. In this research, we utilize parallel programming to accelerate particle filter-based object tracking algorithms. Experimental results showed that our approach reduced the execution time significantly.

  • Moving object management systems manage spatiotemporal data, which change their location over tine such as people, animals, and cars. These moving object management systems can be applied to vehicle location tracking, digital battlefield, location-based service, and so on. The existing moving object management systems only manage past or future location of the moving objects separately. Therefore, they cannot suggest estimation method of uncertain past or future location of the moving objects. In this paper, we propose a moving object management system, which not only manages historical data of the moving objects, but also predicts past and future location of the moving objects using historical data stored in database. We define the moving objects for vehicle location tracking and propose a moving object database structure. Finally, we suggest an execution model of the proposed system and apply the execution model to a virtual scenario for vehicle tracking.

  • This paper proposes a face tracking scheme that is a combination of a face detection algorithm and a face tracking algorithm. The proposed face detection algorithm basically uses the Adaboost algorithm, but the amount of search area is dramatically reduced, by using skin color and motion information in the depth map. Also, we propose a face tracking algorithm that uses a template matching method with depth information only. It also includes an early termination scheme, by a spiral search for template matching, which reduces the operation time with small loss in accuracy. It also incorporates an additional simple refinement process to make the loss in accuracy smaller. When the face tracking scheme fails to track the face, it automatically goes back to the face detection scheme, to find a new face to track. The two schemes are experimented with some home-made test sequences, and some in public. The experimental results are compared to show that they outperform the existing methods in accuracy and speed. Also we show some trade-offs between the tracking accuracy and the execution time for broader application.
