  • We present a method of runtime configuration scheduling in reconfigurable SoC design. As a model of computation, we use a popular formal model of computation, hierarchical FSM (HFSM) with synchronous dataflow (SDF) model, in short, HFSM-SDF model. In reconfigurable SoC design with HFSM-SDF model, the problem of configuration scheduling becomes challenging due to the dynamic behavior of the system such as concurrent execution of state transitions (by AND relation), complex control flow (HFSM), and complex schedules of SDF actor firing. This makes it hard to hide configuration latency efficiently with compile-time static configuration scheduling. To resolve the problem, it is necessary to know the exact order of required configurations during runtime and to perform runtime configuration scheduling. To obtain the exact order of configurations, we exploit the inherent property of HFSM-SDF that the execution order of SDF actors can be determined before executing the state transition of top FSM. After obtaining the order information and storing it in the ready configuration queue (ready CQ), we execute the state transition. During the execution, whenever there is FPGA resource available, a new configuration is selected from the ready CQ and fetched by the runtime configuration scheduler. We applied the method to an MPEG4 decoder and IS95 design and obtained up to 21.8% improvement in system runtime with a negligible overhead of memory usage.

  • This study proposes an execution protocol for fashion therapy. Research on fashion therapy are limited and insufficient for the current need for the establishment of a fashion therapy theory. This study introduces cognitive behavior therapy, embodied cognition, and object relations theory as theories that underlie fashion therapy. A fashion therapy system model is provided based on the analysis of art therapy to explore its applicability to fashion therapy. The fashion therapy system model utilizes fashion items to managing pain and stress to better competence, encouragement and self-expression mechanisms to improve social, psychological, emotional and behavioral functions. In addition, 8 phases of the fashion therapy process (inquiry, forming rapport, assessment, goal-objective, observation, selection of strategy and design, practice, and the final evaluation and closing of fashion therapy) are suggested for developing a practical fashion therapy program. This study is to help overcome a negative perspective on fashion that provokes an excessive spending behavior and to make a practical contribution by creating more social value through fashion. The significance of the study is in the attempt to create an interdisciplinary approach of psychotherapy and fashion that can be extend into the fashion and textile discipline.

  • Stable-state behaviors of asynchronous sequential machines represented as finite state machines can be corrected by feedback control schemes. In this paper, we propose a state feedback control scheme for input/state asynchronous machines with uncertain transitions. The considered asynchronous machine is deterministic, but its state transition function is partially known due to model uncertainty or inner logic errors. The control objective is to compensate the behavior of the closed-loop system so that it matches a sub-behavior of a prescribed model despite uncertain transitions. Furthermore, during the execution of corrective action, the controller reflects the exact knowledge of transitions into the next step, i.e., the range of the behavior of the closed-loop system can be enlarged through learning. The design procedure for the proposed controller is described in a case study.

  • Public-Private-Partnership(PPP) is becoming a popular form of projects in construction industry worldwide. Normally, the management team of PPP project consists of various experts from different disciplines such as construction engineer, bank financier, contract manager, investors, etc. The diversity of team members causes difficulties in managing the team efficiently and furthermore for the smooth execution of the project itself. One of the solutions to this issue might be the application of citizenship behavior by the team members. This study conducts an empirical investigation of the effect of project citizenship behavior on the project performance. We have collected data by using a questionnaire from those with PPP project experiences in the domestic construction industry. The results show that project citizenship behavior has full mediating effects between PM's leadership and the project performance. This study has an academic significance in that it is the first attempt to apply the concept and to show the effect of citizenship behavior in project management discipline, particularly in construction industry, in Korea. We also expect that the project management teams for PPP projects would benefit from the findings of this study.

  • Java applets are downloaded from web server through internet and executed in Java Virtual Machine of clients' browser. Before execution of java applets, JVM checks bytecode program with bytecode verifier and performs runtime tests with interpreter. However, these tests will not protect against undesirable runtime behavior of java applets, such as denial of service attack, email forging attack, URL spoofing attack, and annoying sound attack. In order to protect malicious applets, a technique used in this paper is java bytecode modification. This technique is used to restrict applet behavior or insert code appropriate to profiling or other monitoring efforts. Java byte modification is divided into two general forms, class-level modification involving subclassing non-final classes and method-level modification used when control over objects from final classes or interface. This paper showed that malicious applets are controlled by java bytecode modification using proxy server. This implementation does not require any changes in the web sever, JVM or web browser.

  • Collaborative processes among team members including communication, coordination, and information-handling processes either during pre-construction or project execution are required in order to accomplish the objectives of construction projects. However, current construction management practice does not explicitly take the effect of organizational aspects on project performance into account. This paper introduces a method to understand collaborative processes in an explicit and systematic fashion. An agent-based simulation of collaborative working processes within construction project teams was designed from game theory perspective and implemented. The simulation produced both individual behavior and network dynamics. Individuals represented as agents made efforts to improve performance by communication and coordinating with other members, and overall team network was emerged as a result of interactions among members. Interestingly, it was found that the tendency of forming cohesive subgroups increased when sustaining relations with between-group partners incurs higher cost. The primary contribution of this paper is that it presented an explicit approach to examining collaborative working processes in construction project teams and it extended existing computational organization and network studies by integrating individual behavior models and network models.
