  • Bimodal trams are run by a guidance system and combine the functions of buses and trains. The trams have been highlighted as an alternative means of public transportation due to their accessibility, mobility, and arrival accuracy. While bimodal trams can be implemented on existing roads or by road expansion, with the narrow road conditions in Korea, studies must be performed in advance on suitable lane and platform locations and the exclusivity of lane use. This paper proposes plans for the location of bimodal tram lanes and platforms, whether in the median or at the road’s edge. In addition, methods of efficient bimodal tram operation are discussed, including the implementation of exclusive tram lanes.

  • Luxury, an expression of richness and expensiveness which can be achieved after putting in extensive an elaborate handworks, has been expressed in Hollywood movie costumes. The purpose of this thesis is to explore the characteristics of movie costumes of Hollywood studio designers, and to contemplate luxury expressed in movie costumes for such purposes, this thesis first provides the study on the luxury in movie costumes which has been reflected in fashion history, film studies and feminist theories, and to conduct a case study by analyzing photographic materials. The luxury expressed in movie costumes could be identified as expensiveness, exclusiveness, excess, and indulgence. In the movie costumes, expensive materials such as furs, jewelry, and decorations were used. Couture and custom-made costumes were the expressions of exclusivity. Also, the excessive luxury were the expression of bigness, scalelessness or extreme abundance. Indulgence in luxury is shown in use of uncommon characteristics, especially in gangster movie costumes.

  • KUbiquitous city(U-City) is a recent trend in urban planning and management across the globe. Currently, several typologies were developed and presented classifying U-City services, but validation research of these typologies are scarce. In this study, efforts were made to qualitatively validate the usability and practicality of a typology of u-city services. Using 228 U-City services identified in previous studies, classifying exercises were conducted against a typology. Three experts were involved in this expert heuristic exercise, against a most popularly used and comprehensive typology of U-City services. Findings indicates that the selected typology is high on comprehensive exhaustiveness, and empirical applicability while low on mutual exclusivity, simplicity and theoretical contribution. Implications for the typology improvement are suggested followed by limitations and directions for further research.

  • With COVID-19 spreading rapidly around the world, research and development issues on treatments and vaccines for the virus are of high interest. Among them, Remdesivir was the first to show noticeable therapeutic effects and began clinical trials, with each country authorizing the use of the drug through emergency approval. However, Gilead Co., Ltd., the developer of Remdesivir, received a lot of criticism from civic groups for submitting the application for the marketing authorization as an orphan drug. This is because when a new drug got a marketing authorization as an orphan drug could be granted an exclusive status for seven year. The long-term exclusive status of an orphan drug comes from the policy purpose of motivating pharmaceutical companies to develop treatment opportunities for patients suffering from rare diseases, which was not appropriate to apply to infectious disease treatments. This paper provides a review of the problems and improvement directions of the domestic system through comparative legal consideration against the United States, Europe and Japan for the statutes which give exclusive status to medicines. The domestic system has a fundamental problem that it does not have explicit provisions in the statute in the manner of granting exclusive status, and that it uses the review system to give it exclusive status indirectly. In addition, in the case of orphan drugs, the "Rare Diseases Management Act" and the "Regulations on Examination of Items Permission and Reporting of Drugs" provide overlapping review periods, and despite the relatively long monopoly period, there seems to be no check clause to recover exclusive status in the event of a change in circumstances. Given that biopharmaceuticals are difficult to obtain patents, the lack of such provisions is a pity of domestic legislation, although granting exclusive rights may be a great motivation to induce drug development. In the United States, given that the first biosimilar also has a one-year monopoly period, it can be interpreted that domestic legislation is quite strictly limited to granting exclusive status to biopharmaceuticals. The need for improvement of the domestic system will be recognized in that it could undermine local pharmaceutical companies' willingness to develop biopharmaceuticals in the future, and in that it is also necessary to harmonize international regulations. Taking advantage of the emergence of COVID-19 as an opportunity, we look again at the problems of the domestic system that grants exclusive rights to medicines and hope that an overall revision of the relevant legislation will be made to establish a unified legal basis.

  • In this study, a rapid and sensitive detection tool for screening Salmonella spp. by using a loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) assay targeting the genomic sequence of the invA gene was developed. The inclusivity and exclusivity were both at 100% in the analysis, and the limit of detection (LOD) in a pure S. Enteritidis culture suspended in saline was $3.2{\times}10^3$ CFU/mL at 18.17 min ($R^2$ = 0.9446). The LODs of the LAMP assay in buffered peptone water with Salmonella (BPW) and duck carcass swab sample enriched in BPW with Salmonella (BPWS) after 0 and 12 h incubation were $3.2{\times}10^3$ CFU/mL and $3.2{\times}10^0$ CFU/mL, respectively. Comparing the LODs in BPW with those in BPWS, the LAMP assay was less influenced by compounds of duck carcass swab sample than the PCR assay. Sensitivity and specificity of the LAMP assay in 50 duck carcass swab samples enriched in BPW for 6 h were 96% and 84%, respectively, indicating that the LAMP assay is a rapid, simple and sensitive assay, which can be utilized as a potential screening tool of Salmonella spp. in duck carcass sample.

  • This paper studied and introduced the aviation law cases in applying the treaties of the Warsaw System to the liability of the international air carrier by categorizing four main sections. Firstly, this paper handled the cases regarding the defining an international flight, exclusivity of the treaties as international air carrie's liability Convention, determining treaty relationship between the countries which one country has ratified only the Hague Protocol, an amended version of the Warsaw Convention, while the other has ratified only the original, unamended Warsaw Convention. Annotation assisted the case if it needed. Secondly, the cases relating to the issues of actual and contracting carrier, successive carrier, agents and servants of the carrier and others were studied. Thirdly, the issues relating to the accident in the course of any operations of embarking or disembarking of passengers, the occurrence during the transportation by air of baggage or goods and delay in the transportation by air of passengers, baggage or goods in addition to the cancellation of the flights were studied according to the applicable range. Fourthly, I studied the time issue with effective date of the treaties. Conclusively, it is not excessive to emphasize the importance of cases in Aviation Law like all other legal areas, therefore, a full-dress future reaserch of aviation cases is expected in here Korea with this paper as a foundation although it studied and introduced only a part of numerous aviation law cases.

  • Biotechnology is often described as the 'exploitation of biological processes for industrial purposes'. The last twenty years have seen phenomenal growth in this industry. The 21 century promises to see further advances in the field. However, since the cost of research is high, and the potential returns are linked to exclusivity, intellectual property protection is critical to this burgeoning industry. Without protection such investments in R&D would not be made and, the benefit that BT-related development are expected to bring, would not occur. BT industry are eager for high technology, and the technology must be transferred to a corporation from a research organization. In order to be successful, it is important that scientist must be directed toward R&D outcome beyond performance assessment. The process to gain a outcome involves multiple steps to turn the idea into the profit, and intellectual property issues are considered into the critical factors to affect the quality of R&D. The management of Intellectual property is very important in R&D. However, According to the survey conducted by KIIP (Korea Institute of Intellectual Property) and KOSEF (Korea Science and Engineering Foundation) in 2006, it is estimated the ability to treat Intellectual property is not sufficient because 82.5% of the respondents have not received an education. Governmental Support is needed to prompt systematically the ability of intellectual property management through education and consulting.

  • This study was to suggest the proper level of touch sensibility for twenties while flicking touch phones. A rapid prototype of $480{\times}800$ pixel size was developed for the experiment. Participants were 20 undergraduates, not visually and physically handicapped in using touch phones. 15 different modes, with each mode changing in velocity when flicking the prototype were randomly presented to each subject. The subjects were asked to score what they felt in each mode on a 1-to-6 Likert scale. The data was analyzed by the one-way ANOVA procedure. Each mode showed significant differences in 8 representative emotions except for exclusivity feeling and fresh feeling. Each velocity mode was scaled by the multidimensional scaling technique. Then, vector coordinates in each emotion were obtained by simple regression analysis. 15 velocity modes and each emotion were joint-plotted by the MDS, PROXSCAL. The findings in this study could be basic data for studying affective touch sensibilities in multiple ways.

  • With the increasing popularization of low-priced luxury markets, maintaining the genuine values of luxury has become crucial for luxury fashion brands to attract customers who want exclusivity and rarity. The world-leading luxury fashion houses have employed a variety of experiential marketing strategies like special order product strategies and mobile SNS promotion strategies, yet little research exists on there the strategies actually positively impact brand luxury images and customer attitudes towards the brand. This study empirically analyzed the effects of customer experience of special order products on perceived brand luxury and brand relationship. Furthermore, the study also tested relationships among perceived brand luxury, brand relationship, and brand loyalty. A survey was conducted with Korean female consumers who had purchase experiences of special order products from the brands. We analyzed the data of MTO-experienced respondents due to the lack of respondents who had experienced custom-made product services. The result indicates the significant effect of experience of MTO on brand relationship; however, we found only a partial support for the effect of MTO on brand luxury. Likewise, we found a partial support for the effect of mobile SNS promotion strategies on perceived brand luxury versus full support for the effect on brand relationship.

  • We prepared porous cation exchange membrane using polystyrene such as, EPS (expanded polystyrene), SAN (styrene acrylonitrile copolymer) and HIPS (high impact polystyrene). These three kind of polystyrene were sulfonated by acetyl sulfate to make sulfonated porous cation exchange membrane such as, SEPS (sulfonated expanded polystyrene), SSAN (sulfonated styrene acrylonitrile copolymer)and SHIPS (sulfonated high impact polystyrene). SEM was employed to validate porous structure of membrane, and IR spectroscopy was used to validate sulfonation rate of ion exchange membrane. As a results, ion exchange capacity was increased with an amount of sulfuric acid in reactants and cation exchange membrane showed the selectivity to a cation and showed the exclusivity to an anion.
