  • One of the most significant requisite that should be considered for effective rapping of the electrostatic precipitator using electromagnetic vibration exciter is vibration acceleration and resonance frequency of collecting plates. This vibration acceleration shows its peak points when natural frequencies of the system are corresponded with excitation frequency from the power source, and effective rapping performance can be expected. In this research, extend view of single electrostatic precipitator using one electromagnetic vibration exciter, the system was remodeled by arrangement of the exciters in view of multiple modules of the electrostatic precipitator in fields. And vibration acceleration measurement experiment is performed and measured values are compared with these remodeled systems. By this experimental comparison in series and parallel arrangement, effectiveness of arrangement methods for the electromagnetic vibration exciter, expected rapping performance, and power consumption are verified.

  • In this work, the dynamic characteristics of an oil-lubricated, short SFD with a central feeding groove are derived based on a theoretical analysis considering the effect of a groove. The validity of the analysis is investigated experimentally using an Active Magnetic Bearing (AMB) system as an exciter. For the theoretical solution, the fluid film forces of a grooved SFD are analytically derived so that the dynamic coefficients of a SFD are expressed in terms of its design parameters. (omitted)

  • As the complexity of the power system becomes higher, tests of the new devices, such as exciter and PCS(Power Conversion System) of the distributed generation sources, in the real operating condition are more important. However tests of the unverified devices in the real power system may cause hazardous malfunction of the system. In order to avoid this problem, power devices may be tested with the real-time simulators instead of the real power system. This paper presents an real-time multi machine power system simulator using PCs(Personal Computer) and Fast Ethernet. Developed real-time simulator performs the electro-mechanical dynamic simulation of multi-machine power system by the network distributed computing technique. Because the simulator consists of usual PCs and Fast Ethernet, it is possible to make up a simulation system very cheaper than the conventional real-time simulator which consists of dedicated expensive hardware devices. The performance of the developed simulator is tested and verified with the scaled model excitation system. The test which adjust the control parameters of the exciter is performed with the well-known New England 10 generator 39 bus sample power system.

  • This paper presents a new on-line generator simulator which can be utilized for the control parameter setting of the exciter and the power system stabilizer (PSS). The proposed simulator equipped with A/D and D/A channels through which actual exciter and PSS can be connected. System parameters and disturbance sequence are easily programmed using friendly developed interface. The developed simulator is tested and verified by connecting a simple AVR implemented by op-amps.

  • This paper presents a simple, robust excitation control system for synchronous generator using direct instantaneous voltage control(DIVC) method DIVC method can operate as maximum dynamics of power conversion system without any control gains such as PID controller. And the transient overshoot of generator voltage can be suppressed with a simple time constant. The proposed control scheme is verified by the computer simulation and experimental results in prototype generation system.

  • This thesis proposes a robust controller introducing the H$_{\infty}$ control theory, one of the robust control theories that can obtain desired control performance while ensuring robustness for the uncertainty and disturbance contained in the power system. The performance of the designed controller is examined by extensive non-linear time domain simulation. Results show that the proposed H$_{\infty}$ controller is superior to that of the conventional controller.

  • This paper deals with the determination of generator/exciter model parameters for a Cheju Hanlim steam turbine unit. Using the recorded data from the generator characteristic tests, the model parameters have been derived and verified by comparing the simulation results and recorded data. In addition to it, the closed-loop performance of voltage control on no-load condition has been assessed in the frequency domain by taking advantage of derived generator/exciter model parameters.

  • A cylindrical capacitive displacement sensor (CCS) was developed and applied for monitoring end milling processes. Dynamic characteristics of a spindle-assembly were measured using the CCS and a designed magnetic exciter. The technique to extract the spindle displacement component caused only by cutting from the measured signals using the CCS was proposed in the paper. Using CCS signals and FRF (Frequency Response Function) derived from dynamics of the spindle tool system, dynamic cutting forces are estimated quantitatively.

  • Water wall tube is one of the major factors consisting of a fluidized bed boiler and it plays very important role for the generation of electricity within the boiler. But these water wall tubes within the fluidized bed boiler are subject to the ware and corrosion caused by the high temperature gas and the flowing medium. If water leak is occurred, the secondary damage by the water leak will occur. As a result of that, the power generation efficiency decreases noticeably. Therefore, the maintenance of the water wall tube is very important. In this study, we designed a exciter sensor based on simulation and composed a remote field eddy current system for the defect evaluation of the outer water wall tube. Starting from the shape design of exciter, we conducted simulations for various design factors such as the water wall tube size, material, frequency, lift-off and so on. Based on the results, we designed the optimum exciter sensor for the water wall tube test within the fluidized bed boiler.
