Recently, seismic hazard analysis has become a very significant issue. New systems and available data have been also developed that could help scientists to explain the earthquakes phenomena and its physics. Scientists have begun to accept the role of uncertainty in earthquake issues and seismic hazard analysis. However, handling the existing uncertainty is still an important problem and lack of data causes difficulties in precisely quantifying uncertainty. Ground Motion Prediction Equation (GMPE) values are usually obtained in a statistical method: regression analysis. Each of these GMPEs uses the preliminary data of the selected earthquake. In this paper, a new fuzzy method was proposed to select suitable GMPE at every intensity (earthquake magnitude) and distance (site distance to fault) according to preliminary data aggregation in their area using ${\alpha}$ cut. The results showed that the use of this method as a GMPE could make a significant difference in probabilistic seismic hazard analysis (PSHA) results instead of selecting one equation or using logic tree. Also, a practical example of this new method was described in Iran as one of the world's earthquake-prone areas.

The radar cross section (RCS) of a warship is one of the most important design features in terms of her survivability in hostile environments. Ocean waves continuously changes the attitude of an objective warship to hostile radar and distorts the RCS as a result. This paper presents a dynamic RCS analysis technique and procedure that considers temporal ship motion. First, data sets are prepared for ship motions in 6 degrees of freedom, which are numerically simulated for an objective warship via frequency to time domain conversion with response amplitude operators and specified ocean wave spectra. Second, a series of RCS analysis models are transformed geometrically by referring to ship motion data sets. Finally, temporal RCS analyses are carried out with the RCS simulation code, SYSCOS. As an example, RCS analysis results are given for a virtual warship, which show that ship motions temporally change RCS values and cause RCS reduction compared with static value in terms of mean values.

Researches on mobile robots have been mainly focused on the autonomous navigation and a lot of interesting results have been published so far. Most of applications are, however, fancy, unpractical, and very expensive to be used for 'UN-expensive' purpose. Well-known soccer robot may be an example of unpractical application. Un-autonomous mobile robot has, however, potential for a lot of practical applications. Especially, tele-operation of the un-autonomous mobile robot may the central issue of research. Major research topics for the tele-operated un-autonomous mobile robot include development of a force reflecting joystick for tele-operation and development of a sophisticated algorithm for smooth tele-operation. A new concept named fuzzy command smoothing algorithm is proposed in this paper in order to provide smooth motion to a tele-operated mobile robot. It gives smooth motion command to the mobile robot from possibly abrupt quick turn motion command of the joystick using fuzzy logic. Simulation results verify the usefulness of the proposed algorithm.

This paper deals with the control of the lateral motion of a mobile vehicle. A mobile vehicle using in this experiment is able to adapt many unmanned automatic driving system, for example, like a automated product transporting system. This vehicle is consist of the two servomotors. One is used to accelerate this vehicle and the another is used to change this lateral direction. An adaptive fuzzy logic controller(AFLC) is designed and applied to a experimental mobile vehicle in order to achieve the control of the lateral direction. An adaptive fuzzy logic controller(AFLC) is designed and applied to a experimental mobile vehicle in order to achieve the control of the lateral motion of the vehicle. Therefore, the main aim of this paper is investigate the possibility of applying adaptive fuzzy control algorithms to a microprocessor-based servomotor controller which requires faster and more accurate response compared with many other industrial processes. Fuzzy control rules are derived by modelling an expert's driving actions. Experiments are performed using a mobile vehicle with sensing units, a microprocessor and a host computer.
Seismic risk has received increased attention since the 2011 Fukushima accident in Japan. The seismic risk of a nuclear power plant is evaluated via seismic probabilistic safety assessment (PSA), for which several methods are available. Recently, the discrete approach has become widely used. This approximates the seismic risk by discretizing the ground motion level interval into a small number of subintervals with the expectation of providing a conservative result. The present study examines the effect of the number of subintervals upon the results of seismic risk quantification. It is demonstrated that a small number of subintervals may lead to either an underestimation or overestimation of the seismic risk depending on the ground motion level. The present paper also provides a method for finding the boundaries between overestimation and underestimation regions, and illustrates the effect of the number of subintervals upon the seismic risk evaluation with an example. By providing a method for determining the effect of a small number of subintervals upon the results of seismic risk quantification, the present study will assist seismic PSA analysts to determine the appropriate number of subintervals and to better understand seismic risk quantification.
A fuzzy stochastic differential equation contains a fuzzy valued diffusion term which is defined by stochastic integral of a fuzzy process with respect to 1-dimensional Brownian motion. We prove the existence and uniqueness of the solution for fuzzy stochastic differential equation under suitable Lipschitz condition. To do this we prove and use the maximal inequality for fuzzy stochastic integrals. The results are illustrated by an example.
The trajectory of a classical dynamics is determined by the least action principle. As soon as we come to quantum dynamics, we have to consider all possible trajectories which are proposed to be a sum of the classical trajectory and Brownian fluctuation. Thus, the action involves the square of the derivative B(t) (white noise) of a Brownian motion B(t). The square is a typical example of a generalized white noise functional. The Feynman propagator should therefore be an average of a certain generalized white noise functional. This idea can be applied to a large class of dynamics with various kinds of Lagrangians.

This paper presents an LMI-based method to design sliding mode observers for a class of uncertain systems. Using LIs we derive an existence condition of a sliding mode observer guaranteeing a stable sliding motion. And we give explicit formulas of the observer gain matrices. We also consider sliding mode observer design problems under an α-stability constraint or an LQ performance bound constraint. Finally, we give a numerical design example.
In this paper, a numerical method is developed to solve the 2 dimensional missile/target persuit-evasion game. The numerical solver for the problem is composed of two parts: parametrization of the kinematic equations of motion using collocation and optimization of the parametrized minimax problem using a nonlinear programming. A numerical example is solved to verify the performance of the proposed numerical scheme.
