아동의 자아탄력성과 사회적 지지가 시험불안 및 학교적응에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Children's Ego-Resilience and Social Support on Exam Anxiety and School Adjustment)

  • The aim of this paper is to examine the effects of children's ego-resilience and social support on exam anxiety and school adjustment. The subjects of this study were 534, $5^{th}$ and $6^{th}$ grade students (275 boys and 259 girls) from the Pusan area. The results of this study revealed that the levels of Ego-resilience and social support correlated negatively with exam anxiety, and positively with school adjustment. Therefore the more ego-resilience and social support children felt that they had, the lower the levels of exam anxiety they experience, and the higher their levels of school adjustment. The influence of ego-resilience on exam anxiety was higher than that of social support and the influence of ego-resilience on school adjustment was similar to that of social support. The implications of the present study were also discussed.

  • Purpose: The purpose of the study was to identify levels of anxiety, stress hormone, lymphocytes, and neutrophils of the nursing students before an examination and to examine effects of social support on those variables related to taking examinations. Methods: Thirty eight healthy nursing students participated. They completed the questionnaire including state anxiety, test anxiety (VAS scale) and social support two weeks before the exam and again just before the exam. Simultaneously, a venous sample for ACTH, cortisol, lymphocytes & neutrophils count was drawn by a trained nurse. Descriptive statistics, paired t-test, student t-test, and Pearson's correlation with SPSS/WIN 14.0 were used to analyze the data. Results: Test anxiety scores and cortisol level on the exam day showed a significant increment compared with those on the non-exam day. The participants with higher levels of total social support scores showed significantly lower state anxiety on the exam day than those with lower levels of total social support scores. Conclusion: These data indicate a possible alteration in cortisol responsiveness to academic stress in nursing students. Social support would play an important role in modulation of academic stress.

의대학생드에게 스트레스와 자연살해세포활동 간의 관계 (The Relationship between Stress and Natural Killer-Cell Activity in Medical College Students)

  • A comparison was made between the effect of subjective stress and that of objective stress on immune function in male medical college students. Interaction between perceived stress, psychopathology and natural killer-cell(NK) activity was assessed during an exam period, non-exam period, and vacation. No significant difference was found in NK activity among these three periods, but scores of perceived stress related to unusual happenings during an exam period and related to interpersonal relationship during vacation were found to have significantly positive correlation with NK activity, respectively. In psychopathology, only scores of anxiety during an exam period had significantly positive correlation with NK activity. These results suggest that immune function is more likely to be affected by subjective stress than objective stress and that subjective stress such as some perceived stress and subclinical level of anxiety may positively affect immune function.

Effect of Exam Anxiety, Academic Stress and Alcohol Dependence on Academic Achievement of Nursing Students

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is that the college age is an important transition period from youth to adulthood. Nursing students are unfamiliar with their field of study and need to adapt to a large amount of academic and practical training, so that they can have a better college life. An attempt was made to determine the effect of exam anxiety, academic stress, and alcohol dependence on the academic achievement of nursing students. Research design, data, and methodology: The subjects of the study were 130 students from all grades who agreed to participate in the study after expressing convenience among students attending the Department of Nursing at a university in Gyeongnam. The data collection period was from August 15 to September 15, 2023. It was about a month. The data investigation was conducted through a self-report survey. Results: Results showed that significant variables included exam anxiety, academic stress, alcohol dependency, parent relationships, peer relationships, and major satisfaction, explaining a total variance of 31.9%. Among these, the most influential factor was academic stress (β=-.352). Conclusions: This study identify factors influencing the academic achievement of nursing college students and hopes to contribute to formulating strategies for their growth and competence development.

  • This study, was conducted to find out the correlation factors of anxiety of the patients during MRI exam on the claustrophobia. This study conducted a survey targeting those korea auxiliary police and combat auxiliary police patients who were admitted to the National Police Hospital over a period from January 2 to December 24, 2013 to investigate their degree of claustrophobia. In study result, sufficient explain before exam was helpful and decrease anxiety. However, they felt more anxious about limited spare, and when the entered a bore. Symptoms of instability and fear were stuffy, sweat, dyspnea, palpitation those are ascending rank of frequency.

내시경검사 대상자의 정보인지, 불안, 불편 및 정보의 가치 (Awareness of Information, Anxiety, Distress, and Perceived Value of Information in Patients undergoing Endoscopic Examination)

  • Purpose: A descriptive study was conducted to identify awareness of information, emotional distress, behavioral distress, and perceived value of information in clients who were scheduled for endoscopic examinations, and to determine correlations between the variables. Method: Participants were 87 clients who were scheduled for endoscopic examinations; gastroscopy, bronchoscopy, and colonoscopy. The questionnaires were collected from September to December, 2002 by a trained nurse. Self reports, interviews, and observations were used. Data were analyzed with frequencies, percentages, means, Pearson correlation coefficients, ANOVA, and Scheffe post test using the SPSS/PC 9.0. Result: The score for awareness of information was 17.46, state anxiety was 47.26, emotional distress during exam was 2.90, behavioral distress was 11.18, and perceived value of information was 4.21, Clients aged above 60 showed significantly lower awareness of information than other groups. Clients undergoing broncoscopy reported significantly higher emotional distress during the ekam than subjects for colonoscopy. Clients undergoing gastroscopy showed significantly higher behavioral distress than any of the others. There were no relationships between awareness of information and anxiety, but, a significant positive relationship was found between anxiety and emotional distress during exam, between emotional distress and behavioral distress, and between awareness of information and perceived value of information. Conclusion: Awareness of information by the clients through provision of an educational booklet was low, and clients showed moderate level of state anxiety. Research studies are needed to compare providing information with other interventions for comfortable progress of endoscopic examinations. Especially specific strategies should be established for elderly clients to facilitate awareness of information.

대입 준비생의 입시스트레스가 정신건강에 미치는 영향 (The Influence of High School Students' Entrance Exam Stress on Their Mental Health)

  • This study aimed at investigating the level of high school students' entrance exam stress and mental health first and also investigating if the entrance exam stress and mental health are related to gender, grade, character type, parenting style and economic status. This is expected to be used as a fundamental data for the development of health education program on high school students' stress and diagnosis of their mental health. To achieve those goals above, the questionnaire was used and the sample consisted of 600 students from general high schools in a large city, C and in a smaller city, A in Chungnam province through questionnaire and the conclusion, which was based on 582 proper questionnaires from the 600 questionnaires, through variable analysis, correlation analysis and multi-regression, is below. First, according to the information provided by respondents, the result showed the relationship between those background variables and the entrance exam stress and mental health level. As the students are more introverted and the parenting style is more authoritative, the entrance exam stress is higher and the mental health level is higher as the parenting style is more authoritative and the economic status is lower. In gender, the entrance exam stress level was high for male students in regard to parents pressure. For female students, it was due to the insufficient free time. In test performance, the good grade group showed high stress level when they don't have enough free time and the poor grade group showed high stress level when they have test tension and poor test performance. In character style, the introverted group showed high stress level in future uncertainty. In parenting style, the authoritative group showed significantly high level in all four sub-factors and there is no significant relationship with the stress level and economic statue. Female students reported higher mental health level than male students in somatization and depression. In academic achievement, the poor grade group showed high level in obsession, fear-anxiety and psychotism. In character style, the introverted group showed high level in sensitivity towards others and depression. And in parenting style, the authoritative group is higher in 9 sub-factors than the other two groups in the factor, economic status. The lower economic status group showed high mental health problem level in this order; in obsession, sensitivity towards others, depression, paranonia and psychotism. Second, the results revealed that there is a significant difference among the groups after comparing and analyzing the relationship between the mental health level according to the three groups, the first, second and third group divided by the degree of entrance exam stress. And the higher the entrance exam stress is, the higher the mental health problem level is. Verification showed that there was obvious difference among the groups. the entrance exam stress was positively correlated with the mental health level. The lack of free time, future uncertainty, test anxiety/poor test performance and parents pressure, these factors, in that order, were correlated with the mental health level. when the prediction variables which influenced on mental health are analyzed, test-anxiety/poor test performance was found to be related to mental health most. And after the factor, test-anxiety, future uncertainty and the lack of free time were listed(ranked), however results did not show any correlation with parents' pressure.

교원임용 시험을 준비하는 중등학교 기간제 교사들의 교직생활과 삶에 관한 질적 연구 (A Qualitative Study on the Lives of Non-Tenured, Secondary School Teachers Who Are Preparing for Teachers' Exam)

  • 본 연구에서는 교원임용 시험을 준비하고 있는 기간제 교사들의 교직생활과 삶을 탐색하였다. 이를 위해 10명의 기간제 교사들을 대상으로 반구조화된, 일대일 면담을 진행하였고, 합의적 질적 연구 방법을 사용하여 자료를 분석하였다. 연구결과, 대부분의 참여자들은 경제적 필요를 충족시키고 자신의 꿈인 교사생활의 기쁨과 보람을 맛보며, 임용 시험에 실질적인 도움을 얻고자 기간제 교사직을 선택한 것으로 나타났다. 기간제 교사생활에서 경험하는 어려움으로는 학교 관리자로부터의 차별 대우가 가장 두드러졌으며, 이로 인한 자존감의 저하와 정체성의 혼란을 겪고 있는 것으로 파악되었다. 이러한 차별이 오히려 임용 시험 준비에 대한 강한 의지로 전환되어 참여자들은 안정되고 당당한 교사 신분을 얻기 위해 임용시험준비에 전념하고 있다고 진술하였다. 하지만, 시험준비 과정에서 부족한 공부시간, 끝없는 공부양, 다양한 삶의 역할 수행, 체력 저하, 난해한 시험 유형, 이전 실패경험에서 오는 불안감 등으로 상당한 스트레스를 경험하는 것으로 확인되었다. 연구결과를 토대로 향후 연구의 방향에 대해 제언하였다.

Fuku shin, a Kampo diagnostic procedure, could be one of useful diagnostic tools for anxiety disorders and depression

  • Kampo medicine, a Japanese traditional herbal medicine, has been used in clinical practice in Japan. The most appropriate Kampo formula should be chosen for each individual by the four diagnostic procedures. Fuku shin, the abdominal exam, is one of the most important approaches in the procedures. There are several abdominal conformations (signs) when administering Fuku shin. In Kampo medicine, psychiatric illness-marked by depression and anxiety-has been shown to be related with an abdominal conformation, Shin ka hi koh (Epigastric Obstructive Hardness). The aim was to see the occurrence of abdominal conformations in each level of depression and anxiety symptoms. Two hundred fifteen patients were assigned to high-, moderate-, or low-level psychiatric comorbidity based on the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale and were studied regarding the occurrence of major abdominal conformations. Moderate and high psychopathological groups showed the higher occurrence of Shin ka hi koh [Low, 21%; Moderate, 67%; High, 74%] ($p$ < 0.0001). In conclusion, moderate and high psychopathological patients showed the higher occurrence of a specific abdominal sign.

척추마취 하 수술 환자의 불안, 혈압, 심박수 및 혈당에 미치는 음악요법의 효과 (Effect of Music Therapy on Anxiety, Blood Pressure, Heart Rate and Glucose Levels of Patients Undergoing Surgery during Spinal Anesthesia)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to exam the effect of listening to preferred music on patients' anxiety, blood pressure, heart rate, and glucose levels during spinal anesthesia. Methods: A quasi-experimental research design was used. The participants were divided into an experimental group (n=30) and a control group (n=30) undergoing lower leg operations using spinal anesthesia. The mean age was 35.1 years and the mean time of listening to the music was 71.33 minutes. The experimental group was provided with their preferred music selected by each of the participants; the control group was not provided with any music. Results: The state of anxiety was decreased significantly in the experimental group(F=4.14, p=.046). Anxiety (VAS) was also significantly lower in the experimental group (F=4.62, p=.036). Conclusion: The results of the study show that listening to preferred music is an effective method for reducing peri-operative anxiety for patients during spinal anesthesia.
