Flexural Performance of Reinforced Concrete Beams Retrofitted with Different FRPs (섬유 접착 보강 철근콘크리트 보의 보강재료에 따른 휨 성능 비교)

  • This paper deals with the experimental evaluation of the performance of R.C beams strengthened with aramid, glass and carbon fiber sheets. To evaluate the effects of FRPs on the flexural strengthening of the beams, strengthening ratio is adopted as a main variable. Seven beams were fabricated and strengthened under same tensile strength based on ultimate strength of FRPs and strengthening length. Deflection, flexural stiffness, strain of FRP, ultimate load and failure load are compared to evaluate the effects of FRPs on structural behavior of retrofitted beams. The results shows that little effects of FRPs on behavior of strengthened beams can be estimated and the fail modes are more influenced on structural behavior than that.

Evaluation of Soft Nip Calendering Characteristics of Newsprints (신문용지의 소프트닙 캘린더링 특성 평가)

  • The influence of four process parameters of soft nip calendering including calendering pressure, temperature, moisture content and nip residence time on bulk, smoothness and tensile strength of newsprints has been investigated. In addition, the effect of basis weights on calendering responses has been examined. Bulk of newsprints decreased and smoothness increased with the increase of the calendering pressure, temperature, moisture content of the sheets and nip residence time. Improvement in tensile strength was observed when low calendering pressure and high temperature of heat-ing roll were employed. Tensile strength of the newsprint, however, decreased abruptly when the calendering temperature and pressure increased above certain levels due to the rupture of sheet structure, which has been verified by SEM. SEM micrographs also showed that it would be possible to maintain the inner bulk while densifying the fibers on the outer surface of newsprint by adjusting the soft nip calendering variables properly.

  • Tubular markers for road safety facilities are used to lead the driver's sight line and separate the lanes on the road. Such tubular markers are usually installed on the road and frequently hit by vehicles, they are accordingly requested to assure the product durability. The traditional evaluation method of tubular markers include only quality tests of the material properties. However, most of consuming agencies in charge of road management at fields have proposed problems on long-term performance of the products hit by vehicles under various weather conditions. Therefore, the objectives of this study are to develop the reliability test methods and equipments to simulate the product failures of tubular markers due to vehicle collision and wheel compression and the delamination and discoloration of reflection sheets attached on the surface of the products under high and low temperatures.

  • The mechanical properties and optical micrographs are studied for rolled magnesium alloy sheet with hexagonal close packed structure(HCP) at room and elevated temperatures. Tensile properties such as tensile strength, elongation, R-value and n-value are also measured for AZ31 magnesium alloy. Magnesium with strong texture of basal plane parallel to the rolling direction usually has high R-value and plastic anisotropy at room temperature. As temperature increases, the R-value for AZ31 magnesium sheet decreases. In addition, the AZ31 sheet becomes isotropy and recrystallization above $200^{\circ}C$. Formability of magnesium alloy sheets remarkably poor at room temperature is improved by increasing temperature. Sheet forming of magnesium alloy is practically possible only at high temperature range where plastic anisotropy disappears.

  • One approach to testing the suitability of an adhesive joint for a particular application is to build and test to destruction a representativc, sample of the joini. The noncdestructive test will not measure strength directly but will measure a parameter which can be correlated to strength. It is thercforc, essential that a suitable nondestructive rest is chosen and that its results are correctly intcrpreted. In this paper, typical Ultrasonic Signal Analysis in adhesive joints are cvaluatcci together with Interface Stress from the result of Finite Elenlent Method.

  • Strengthening method using CFS have been developed for the rehabilitation of structures. However, it is very difficult to estimate their resistance capacity after retrofit. Therefore, damage information for strengthened structure with CFS investigated and the estimation method structural capacity by using the damage information is developed. The final objective of this research work is to propose the guideline and method for resistance capacity estimate of structure. In this paper, experimental study result with test parameters of number of carbon fiber sheets and bonding ratio is introduced.

  • There are a lot of problem about waterproofing membrane coating for concrete deck of bridge and waterproofing sheets for concrete of deck of bridge because it couldn't confirm waterproofing's defeat after construction. These problems make a waterproofing material damage and condrete deck of bridge damage. So It needs a lot of money for repair work and reinforcement work. Therefor the structure slab of using waterproofing material protect invasion of water. Also, Concrete deck of bridge need a endurance permeability for the reduction repair payment.   • This study examined the overall measurement system for the power dispersed high speed railway with 400km/h of maximum test speed. The measuring system evaluating an efficiency, stability and reliability is important for developing the high speed railway. In order to organize the comprehensive measuring system, it is needed to determined the test item, a number of channel and the specifications of the measurement system. In this study, we made lists for the performance evaluation tests of the next generation high speed railway expected to be developed in the future, and prepared generalization channel sheets for the specification of the overall measurement system. In addition, the specifications for the measuring system were discussed and synthesized.

  • A sectional FEA program is developed lot analyzing forming processes of sandwich sheets, which are intensively used recently as a lightweight material of an automobile body. The aluminum sandwich sheet consists of two aluminum skins and a polyprophylen core in between. The aluminum sandwich sheet is dominantly effected by the bending effects in small radius of curvature, so that an appropriate description of bending effects is required to analyze the forming processes. For the evaluation of bending effects, the bending equivalent forces are calculated from the bending moment computed using the curvature of the tool and are added to the membrane stretch forces. To verify the validity of the developed program the sectional FEA results in stretch/draw forming Processes of a square cup and draw forming Processes of an outer hood panel were compared with the measurements.

  • A heat and room temperature construction method of asphalt have been mainly applying to rooftop waterproofing in concrete structure, and the rest construction method are sheet, membrane and mortar waterproofing construction method. In particular, joint method in sheet waterproof method is as overlap joint which on being reinforced with fiber and tape, have been applying for job site to mechanical fix using protection disk and anchorage and metal ironwork on the end of sheet. These construction method cause cutting off joint of sheet as behavior of structure according to repairs of sheet itself and thermal conduct, outdoor air environment. In conclusion, we analyzed and examined the application of various sheets and piece ashes about superior 'I' joint which divide from one and the other sheet and progressed about joint construction method of fixing method for overlap.
